  • How to reset my macbook to factory setting

I need to reset my macbook back the factory setting and clean it out.  How do it do this?

What to do before selling or giving away your Mac is one way. Another is:
Install or Reinstall Mavericks or Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Reset ipod back to factory yesterday and now it won't turn on

I rest ipod touch back to factory yesterday and now it doesn't come on at all

First thing to try is a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.
Next would be the troubleshooting in http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281

  • HT204306 How to reset the iPad to factory have forgotten passcode? Please help...

I Tried the four step crud and it did not work the iTunes symbol displays and so does the little plug but nothing after that. there is no ok prompt nothing on the screen changes. I really would like to reset my iPad to factory condition cause I have forgotten my passcode and cannot install any updates... Please help me to do this successfully...

You can restore the iPad by completing a DFU restore.
    DFU Restore:
    1. Connect your iPad to your computer
    2. Open iTunes
    3. Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake button and Home buttons simultaneously for approximately 9-10 seconds
    4. When the screen goes blank, release the Sleep/Wake button and continue holding the Home button
    5. the screen MUST remain black.  If the Apple logo appears while still holding the Home button you did not time it properly (either you released Sleep/Wake too soon or too late)
    6. iTunes will pop up with a small window indicating you have connected an iPad in recovery mode and can Restore it to recover it.
    7. If the apple logo appears due to incorrect timing the Recovery mode message may still appear in iTunes, but you should simply dismiss it and try again from step 3.
Afterwards, you'll want to restore from backup.  If you use iTunes for backups, then your computer will ask if you'd like to restore the iPad from backup after the process above completes and it is recognized as a blank iPad in iTunes.  If you use iCloud for backups, then disconnect your iPad after the process above and wait for the first-time setup screen to appear on the ipad.  Select language, location, activate the device, and accept the terms and conditions; then choose to "restore from iCloud backup".  After you sign in with your Apple ID you'll see your backups and you can select one.  iCloud remembers that you had a password set but does not store the password in the cloud so when your iPad restarts with your information on it it will prompt for a new password to be set.

  • Why does my iPod keep resetting itself back to factory setting when I sync it to iTunes?

I got a new mackbook air and I had to restore my iPod nano to get it to sync to it. But now everytime I sync it, it will say syncing and then ready to disconnect but then it restarts itself to no music. I don't know why it's doing this...help!

I would try restoring it in iTunes first. See if that clars it up.

  • Resetting hp presario cq50 104ca back to factory setting again however.

    Hi to all
As a matter of fact, in the past, I could reset my hp presario cq50 104ca back to factory setting, just by holding down Alt and control by repeating consotently f11. By this process appeared recovery manager and through it, I could reset it back to factory though. But now since few weeks, I have tried from f1 to f12 in the same way as I used to do by holding down Alt and Control and pushing f11. It did not work any more therefore assume that the recovery partition by some so called hacker just for the seek of bothering has removed my recovery partition however.
Your assistance needed regarding this issue.
    Thank you
    Munir

What happens if you simply hold down the F11 key immediately after powering on the laptop?
Have you tried starting Recovery Manager from Start, All Programs list?
******Clicking the Thumbs-Up button is a way to say -Thanks!.******

    Fantastic,all works as it should.
If any other users out there experience "slow" audio or the audio lagging behind the video when importing HD (Sony) tapes into iMovie, try Beverley's tip.It worked for me.

    Hi iPheariPhoPad,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there’s an issue with Settings, the Notes app entry isn’t showing up as expected. Take a look at the article linked below and try restarting your iPhone 3GS.
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
If that doesn’t do it, try restoring your iPhone as shown in this article:

  • Just got the os x snow leopard, trying to set MacBook back to factory setting

Just got the OS X snow leopard disc.
When I install it I want to clear everything off my MacBook and reset it back to factory settings. How do I do this?

Follow these instructions step by step to prepare a Mac for sale:
Step One - Back up your data:
           A. If you have any Virtual PCs shut them down. They cannot be in their "fast saved" state. They must be shut down from inside Windows.
           B. Clone to an external drive using using Carbon Copy Cloner.
              1. Open Carbon Copy Cloner.
              2. Select the Source volume from the Select a source drop down menu on the left side.
              3. Select the Destination volume from the Select a destination drop down menu on the right
                  side.
              4. Click on the Clone button. If you are prompted about creating a clone of the Recovery HD be
                  sure to opt for that.
Destination means a freshly erased external backup drive. Source means the internal
                   startup drive.
Step Two - Prepare the machine for the new buyer:
              1. De-authorize the computer in iTunes! De-authorize both iTunes and Audible accounts.
2, Remove any Open Firmware passwords or Firmware passwords.
              3. Turn the brightness full up and volume nearly so.
              4. Turn off File Vault, if enabled.
              5. Disable iCloud, if enabled: See What to do with iCloud before selling your computer.
Step Three - Install a fresh OS:
         A. Snow Leopard and earlier versions of OS X
              1. Insert the original OS X install CD/DVD that came with your computer.
              2. Restart the computer while holding down the C key to boot from the CD/DVD.
              3. Select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu; repartition and reformat the internal hard drive.
Optionally, click on the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
              4. Install OS X.
              5. Upon completion DO NOT restart the computer.
              6. Shutdown the computer.
         B. Lion and Mountain Lion (if pre-installed on the computer at purchase*)
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because
it is three times faster than wireless.
              1. Restart the computer while holding down the COMMAND and R keys until the Mac OS X
                  Utilities window appears.
              2. Select Disk Utility from the Mac OS X Utilities window and click on the Continue button.
              3. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click
on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
              4. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on the Security button
and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
              5. Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
              6. Quit DU and return to the Mac OS X Utilities window.
              7. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
              8. Upon completion shutdown the computer.
*If your computer came with Lion or Mountain Lion pre-installed then you are entitled to transfer your license once. If you purchased Lion or Mountain Lion from the App Store then you cannot transfer your license to another party. In the case of the latter you should install the original version of OS X that came with your computer. You need to repartition the hard drive as well as reformat it; this will assure that the Recovery HD partition is removed. See Step Three above. You may verify these requirements by reviewing your OS X Software License.

When you reset to factory settings, the computer is de-authorised.
In iTunes menu Store > View Account > sign in > App Store > Deauthorise All.
Once done, authorise this computer iTunes.
Note: you can only do that once a year.

  • Imac monitor magnified and is very contrast (y), how do I get back to factory settings?

The monitor on my IMac (about two years old) suddenly got very contracty and magnified.  Items that are gray, such as some text, are almost impossible to read.  How to I get back to factory display setting?

Change the monitor contrast in System Preferences > Universal Access > Seeing:
If your is set to "normal" like the above then it is a hardware problem with your monitor.
