How to resolve that problem?

After removal of my last posting I try a censored version of my problem:
I had an important job two days ago.
When I imported the pictures to my old (upgraded from v2) lib the pictures that I exported as JPG were scrambled in blocks. I tried to repair the library - realized that that will last for hours and that would not have been compatible with my timeline for the job :-o
So I cancelled that process. After cancelling all information with albums, projects ... all was gone - only the 50000 pictures remained.
Anyway I had to develop my RAW data - quickly, so I set up a new library. Made some color corrections and simple processes. I was not surprised that I had to wait (too) long - aperture 3 is slow (I have a new macbookPro with 4GB RAM). What really knocked me out was the fact that around 1/3 of the pictures
- Exported as JPG - had the same blocked areas, scrambled quarters, kinda artwork.
I made the job in PS4.
My last backup of Aperture 2 library is January 28th.
I never made a backup of aperture 3 lib. It was my fear that I would "write" all the problems I had with aperture 3 on my backup.
I alread contacted German support a few weeks ago. They said that a new library would help. As I see now: my main problem, the scramble JPG export is not resolved by that.
*What is my starting point?*
I have a System 10.6.3
Aperture 3.0.1
A backup (made within Aperture 2) dated from jan 28th.
A "flat" library aperture 3 without any structure I made but with all the pictures I added since Jan 28th.
What would you suggest? Do you think I have a chance to get Aperture 3 running correctly?

I set back to think about it. What to do?
I set the _precondition that aperture 3 can work without any flaws_. If there are any doubts I would have to return to the working solution aperture 2.
*My to do list*
• buy a big external drive and make a complete duplication of the present internal HD
• open aperture 3 and export all pitures made since jan 28th to external HD
• start from system 10.6 dvd and make a clean install erasing internal HD first
• boot then and make all updates on system
• install aperture 2, make all updates
• recover from last aperture 2 backup
• export projects separately to a HD
• install upgrade to aperture 3
• make new database - erase the old
• update to aperture 3.0.2
• import all pictures
? shall I install all other programs after the aperture process or after the clean system install??
hope this will work. What do you think?
I think it will last 2 to 3 days.
hmm .... will apple give a refund on this extra work?

Can you open the Preview program without loading a file, like by itself?
If it doesn't load then I suspect a corrupt Preview preference file.
Deleting the System Preference or other .plist file
Can you open other files with Preview, like jpg's and images?
How about other PDFs? or is it just that one you have downloaded?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

I am having problems sending emails when using my ipod touch with wi-fi abroad. When at home my ipod touch receives and I can send emails through my home wi-fi system but when away and logged into other wi-fi networkcan only receive emails and not send them. Internet access is fine when abroad.
I am assuming that this is to do with the outgoing server but this is only a guess!
I am not very techy so any ideas how to resolve this problem would be gratefully received.

Seems like the other networks are blocking you from sending emails.
Do yo have more that one email account on the iPod?
Have you tried sending from another account?

You can't resolve the issue. Your phone is bricked.
This is the error message that happens when you try and update a jailbroken phone.
Discussion of jailbroken phones is prohibited by the Terms of Use of this forum.
You need to buy another phone.

Given that your answer to 1. is 'pre-installed' and 3. is 'No', I think the only thing to do is to take it to an Apple store (ideally the one you bought it from) and have them reinstall it for you.
The intended solution in cases like yours is that you should be able to reboot and install even a wiped disk by using Apple's servers over the internet (you do this by restarting with 'command-r' and choosing 'reinstall Lion'). However if this isn't working for you then you need to get the store to do it. Don't let them fob you off with 'go home and try again'. Have them do it in the shop (you're still covered by Applecare warranty so it should cost you nothing save the inconvenience of the trip and possibly leaving the machine there while they fix it).
A reinstall should leave all your own personal data and programs in place.
Note for future: when you get it fixed, first thing to do is buy a cheap external drive and start keeping a backup (either Time Machine or clone with Carbon Copy Cloner).

First check that your device is correctly connected to the wifi/internet (settings > wifi)
If your back up continually fails, you might try turning off back up on your mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup) and then deleting the backup file from iCloud by swiping the backup file on the mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup > manage…) and then turning back up on again.
If this doesn't help, try turning off some items for back up in a pattern to try to establish if your problem is being caused by specific data on your device.
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.

When I use it on my laptop there is no problem the songs and videos are there but when i use the ipod directly they just don't appear... :S

It sounds like the iPod has a software issue. I would try the following troubleshooting tips:
1. Reset the iPod: reset the iPod by holding the sleep/wake and home buttons simultaneously for 10-15 seconds until the screen goes black then shows the Apple logo.
2. Make sure the iPod is on the latest version of the software, if it's not then update it.
3. If the iPod is on the latest version of the software or the software update didn't resolve your issue then restore the ipod to factory settings, which will put a new version of the system software on your iPod.

I'm having similar problems with an HP OfficeJet 6500. One suggestion that improved the situation, but did not totally solve the problem, was to select "OfficeJet Pro L7700" for its drivers.
One other suggestion is to turn off the printer, then simultaneously hold down the "#" and "9" keys and turn the printer back on. This hot key seems to reset the printer to factory defaults, allowing you to set things up anew.
Finally, kvetch to HP. Their networking software clearly has problems in its relationship to OSX, but nobody on either side seems motivated to bring in a good therapist.

How to resolve that problem?
