How to restart workflow step by RIDC?

Hello everybody,
I have a problem with the writing records to the wf_in_queue.hda. Horrible... ;o)))
I'd like to restart workflow steps automatically by RIDC (java code).
Can you write me which java code can i use?

Hi Frnds,
We have a sequence of workflows. Which occur one after the other. Each WF is performed by a single agent except one WF. that particular WF needs to be split into 3 parts as 3 performers are there. I can do so by checking the description manually. But now we want to automate it. By splitting it we want to see the time lapse of each performer. Can someone help me out in this ?
Please advice me if there is any table storing the wf steps numbers or anything which is relevant to this issue.

i didn't exactly understand what u mean.
You want to divide one single step into 3 step, is this right?
In that case, you can subdivide it into three parallel steps in workflow definition or, if the three users have to perform their task in sequence, you can put a table with relevant users
into the last tab of the task in SWDD.
Workitem informations are stored in this tables

Sometimes in SWPR Restart Workflow i find Errors in Workflow but when i select the workflow and click on the restart flag still the workflow is not Restarting and i find it in error status only.Mostly PO/PR release workflows. Please help me on this How to restart workflows.

Generally as I far I know in my limited knowledge, you restart a WF:
1. Some step during execution hanged or erred out due to unknown reason may be due to lack of authorization
2. Rule failure
3. Time gap
4. Missing data
Overall and simply to say to use this transaction where it is possible to continue from the exact point of failure without a new instance.

How to restart awaiting approval for RFX

Dear Expert,
We're on SRM 7 and use automatic approval workflow for RFX.
Today, when we created RFx and checked the the approval status , it is awaiting approval and the system can not approve it .
I check the log , and it is no error. so we had to restart SRM system, after that, the workflow is Ok.
Now, I want to know how to restart workflow for the RFx which approval status is awaiting approval .

How to restart an workflow if ended in error at SEND Mail step.

Hello All
      I am facing some problem in restarting the error workflow.
Issue is:
   Workflow ended in error at the mail notification step, since the mail id is not filled into the container so there is no address (mail id) and ended in error.
   How to restart these kinds of workflow in the system?, we have tried to change the container value by assigning mail id and restarted the workflow but still went into error.
Is it possible to restart an workflow which ended in error other than rule resolution.

I think you went in the write approach. I think you have to change the container properly by populating the ADDRESSTRING container element. Also check whether type of email recipient in your container is et to Email.

Workflow Questions - How to execute the steps in a workflow automatically?

I am using MDM 5.5 SP6.
My Question is how to execute the steps in the workflow automatically. That means NO user interaction.
I have a simple workflow, Start- Process -- Syndicate - Stop.
When a new record added /updated/inserted this workflow will start automatically. The workflow inbox, the workflow status is u2018Receivedu2019 Step is u2018Processu2019. Now I have to right click on the record then u2018Next Stepu2019 then click on u2018Syndicateu2019 then workflow completes automatically.
How to execute the Syndication step automatically?. I donu2019t want to have any user interaction to syndicate these records.
Is this possible?
The reason for this is I want to do some field validation and based on the field validation some assignments then then I want to syndicate these records without user interaction..

Hi,
If you want to do some validations and then based on result assignments on some of the fields before syndicating, then you have to use workflow. Only syndication server will not fulfill this requirement.
you may try by making validation's automatic property as "Error". This way it will not allow to add any record not fulfilling validation. You can also try using calculated fields instead of assignment.
I am not sure if you can make your workflow fully automatic, because atleast one process step is must for any workflow, and process step means user action.

How to restart a curent approval step rather complete wfl with a event

Hi,
I want to restart the current approval step BUt this should happen dynamically.
so i have created an event Restart in the business object. I need to restart the step whether the approver has rejeced so rather starting the entire workflow again,
Can I use the event - Restart Current step which I have created in the BO or do i need to handle it differently...
Kindly suggest me soon as I need to complette this today

Here the scenario is a resignation workflow.
The moment the employee raises a request for resignation, it go es for approvals at various levels.
For supporse it has been approved by 3 approvers, it has to get approved by the 4 the approver, The 4 th approver rejects the employee. Here in normal case the workflow starts from the 1st level and again it goes for approval..sequentialy
But in my case the workflow should start from the place where it got rejected initially....not from the 1st level but shuld start from the rejected level.
So at this place, I want to restart the level where it was rejected earlier not from all the levels.

KMC Migration Tool stopped. How to restart avoiding the finished steps?

I'm using KMC Migration Tool for upgrading EP 6.0 SP 2 (6.20) to EP NW04 SPS15 (6.40). We have experienced some network problems, and the process of DB migration has stopped between the end of the migration of task AP - completed suscesfully (the last step of the Migration the DataBase, many hours!!) - and the begining of the synchronization the fsdb Repositories (only a few minutes). When I tried to restart the process of DB migration, the KMC Migration tool tried restarting all the migration tasks from the begining of the DB Migration.
How to restart avoiding the finished steps? How can I avoid to repeat the migration of the DB from the begining, especially if it has executed suscesfully? Can I synchronize the FSDB repositories manually at the end of the EP migration? How can I do it?
If I had to restart the process, is it necessary to restore the target DB, or the process does not insert records from the last execution?

Hi,
CM repositories in FSDB mode can have a manual backup before configuring the local root. The XML file provides the description of behaviors and persistence levels for the file system. To have a manual backup the auto sync has to be deactivated or else there will be a huge meta data loss.
what i feel is like you have to restore the DB before manual bacup(.if the Auto sync is activated). However, i dont think so that you can resume the migration.

How to set workflow fall into error.

Dear Expert,
I have a background step to generate and send out email. My problem is sometimes the email address will be blank. How can i do to set the workflow to error when it encounter this situation. I want to have this because when the workflow got stuck, i can manually go and replace the email address container and restart the workflow step so that the user will not miss the email part.
Anyone can guide me on this?

Now here the condition is if the email id is not found you want to set the running step into error state right?
try to do like this
1. Set a flag as Email_Not_Found if this flag is set to X then pass the same value back to workflow conatiner and in the workflow tempalte define a condition step by using the same flag, if it is X then you raise a exception, Or you can simply loggically delete the workflow instance ,
2. If it is not X then the current running step should pass X back to workflow container and it should get completed successfully....
3. Here Instaead of raise exception, my advise is to simply Cancel the workitem by using the Process Control step, check the above mentioned article for more information about Process control step....

Why do you want to trigger a wflow and what do you want to do with this trigger. Can you give more details of your exact requirements.
But, if you are looking for how to trigger, you can write a small ABAP pgm and schedule it as a job every night. THis job basically reads the table P1000-ENDDA for expiry date and if it reached today, then you can either trigger the wflow with SAP_WAPI_START_WORKFLOW or use SAP_WAPI_CREATE_EVENT to raise your custom event(for Business Obj. BUS7018, i think this is your BO and there are no std events right now, so you will ahve to add your custom event by extending BUS7018 to ZBUS7018).

I currently use a Mac Pro 10.8.4 and have a time machine for wireless 6.3 (630.34). Sometimes I cannot connect to the internet and use network preferences to diagnose the issue. This results in being told to restart the wireless. The airport utility includes the drop down option of restarting but is not clickable so I can't choose it.
With my prior macbook and same time capsule, etc if i had problems connecting to the internet I would run network diagnostics to help out. This included clicking on the airport utility ---> base station --> restart. This worked most of the time.
Bottom line, is there something I am missing in not being able to restart the wi-fi remotely? ]

You are likely forgetting a step.
Open AirPort Utility
Click on the Time Capsule icon
Click Edit in the small window that appears
Now click the Base Station menu.....top of the screen....not the Base Station "tab" in the center of the screen
Click Restart

Workflow step not executed...

In my workflow requirement (for VA01), I want to record the status in a custom table as follows;
Approver id     date   time    status
ABC                                     Submitted for approval
ABC                                     Approved (or) Rejected
So I have created a step called 'update custom status' after the step that sends email to the approver agent whose details stored in another custom table. Then I associated a task with this step which is bound to a custom class / method which has the logic to write the status to the custom table.
The issue is I do not see this step excuted. I checked in the log.
What can be wrong ?
Workflow steps are as follows;
1. Read the document's net value and store in a variable.
2. Read the custom table for agents list to whom the doc has to be sent for approval.
3. Send email for approval.
4. update custom status.
In the graphical view, I can see the update custom status step being called (Green link from previous step to this step) but after that no progress.
Am I missing passing some values ? Or is this step not giving any results ? Whats happening ?
Details on this update custom status step are as follows;
A custom task with terminating event set as _WORKITEM defined. (not synchronous)
A step of type activity defined and bound to the above task with binding done.. (what values should I pass to record the above needed details.)
In other words, how can I record the status in my custom table ?

I think its a background step. If yes, then make it foreground and debug and see what is the problem. Also check for short dumps and turn on the event trace and see the terminating event is getting triggered.

Restart a step in a Job Chain when complete

I want to restart a step when complete but I don't see where I can choose how many times I want to restart.
I see the Final Status Handlers : restart step on complete, but this restart the step unlimitedly.
Could someone help, please ?

You can create a precondition expression on the step next to the restart on completed to limit the amount of restarts:
'=stepIterations <= 3' to restart the step 3 times.
