How to restore a CD or .dmg to a disk? It doesn't work as described.

To restore a .dmg file or the contents of a CD or DVD to a disk, I used to open Disk Utility, click on the .dmg file that I want to put on a disk, click the Restore tab, drag the .dmg to the source field and the disk to the Destination field.
Now, on both my 10.6.1 MBP and on my wife's 10.4.11 MBP, dragging the CD icon from the desktop or finder window to the Destination field just won't take. If I try to drag the blank CD from the left column of DU, the whole window changes.
The DU help menu says: "3. Drag the disk that will hold the contents of the disk image to the Destination field." That doesn't work for me.

Yes that makes sense, however have you updated it at My Apple ID before trying to change it in your system preferences > iCloud settings, you must do that first.

If the phone isn't working, you can't. If you have a backup on your computer, you may be able to extract them from the backup using 3rd party software such as iPhone Backup Extractor (see http://www.iphonebackupextractor.com).

If you want to restore to factory settings use the discs that shipped with the computer when it was new.

How can I uninstall firefox 10.0.2, when normal uninstall doesn't work?

Since firefox 10.0.2 is worthless, I tried to uninstall, but this won't work either. I've even deleted all my downloads from firefox, but nothing works. All I get from firefox is a black blank page, and no it's not the firewall. I truly loved firefox, but you have finally achieved ruining it.

There is no apple logo on the screen when i holding home and wake/sleep button for more than 15 seconds. I am trying to connect the phone to my laptop, however, there is no reaction on iphone or on laptop.

Sometimes the reset can take 20 seconds or longer. How long have you held it? I would just hold it until you see the logo. Is the battery charged? If the battery has had a chance to discharge, you will have to plug the phone in to charge. If it gets to a point, it may turn on by itself. I would use the main charger for this. Also, if this method doesn't work, and it is not being recognized by the computer you may need to make an appointment with the Genius Bar as there could be a hardware defect causing this problem.

Restore apple TV via iTunes - says successful but still doesn't work

I have tried to restore apple TV three times via iTunes. It says successful but the light keeps flashing and the issue remains when i plug back into the TV saying to connect to iTunes. How do I resolve?

Restore Doesn't Work As Described

I have an iPhone 4S. I use iCloud to sync the Reminders app to my Mac and iPad. I backup my iPhone 4S to my Mac - not to iCloud. I accidentally deleted a lengthy Reminders *list* from the Reminders app this afternoon. Of course it immediately deleted itself from my Mac and iPad. So I immediately launched iTunes and restored my entire phone using "Restore from Backup" — an encrypted backup that I made well before accidentally deleting the list today. But when I restored my phone, not only was that list I was hoping to restore NOT restored, but other lists were entirely missing. Not all my lists, just a few lists. The default (Reminders) list is there, as is a "Groceries" and "Market" list, but 2 other lists I'd created months ago are not restored. What is the point of creating an encrypted backup of an iPhone if it does not restore all of the Apple-related apps and data? How exactly are we supposed to backup the Apple-related apps and data to be able to restore things like Reminders lists, should they be deleted? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

How can I initialize an external hard drive when disk utility won't work?

Have a Seagate 300 GB external firewire drive. Formatted it for Mac. Had worked great and then one day it would not mount, got message box with choices of "initialize", "ignore" and 'eject". Clicking initialize, disk utility comes up with only the "first aid" button showing active. When I click on it nothing happens. As far as I can tgell there are no other options
Any suggestions on how I can repair this drive or recover data would be much appreciated.

OK, I suspect First Aid may be blank since Disk Utility "sees" the device but does not think there's anything on it.
1. How about if you select the drive and then click the Erase tab?
2. Also, what happens if you connect the drive, select Ignore, then open Disk Utility? Does the drive show up?
3. What's your objective here? Do you want to try to recover data from the drive, or simply erase it? If you're looking to recover data from the drive, see my "Data Recovery" FAQ.
4. Do you know what happened before the problem arose? For example, was there a power outage or was the cable or drive suddenly disconnected before the drive was Ejected? Any of these events can result in the drive's partition map being corrupted, leading to the kind of problems you're seeing.
5. Did you build this FireWire drive? That is, buy and enclosure, buy a drive, and install the latter in the former? If so, have you checked the connections?

How do I boot Mac Mini when 'c' or 'command' 's' doesn't work

I recently reinstalled OSX 10.4.7 and OSX Leopard 10.5 upgrade. It appears that when inserting my name and password during the installation I must have miss typed something as when trying to update and install software the computer now asks for my administrator name and password which I cant get right.
I have tried inserting the Mac OS X Install disc while pressing ‘c’ to boot the computer from the installation disc, however the computer appears not to recognise the ‘c’ command and opens the computer from the hard disc instead.
I have also tried to book the computer while holding 'Command S', but also here the computer merely starts up from the hard disc as normal.
I have tried my Mac (Danish) keyboard and a (UK) Mac Keyboard from Work with no difference.
I can change my Mac user name and password without problems under accounts, (forgive me for my ignorance) which I now assume must be different form the administrator account?! I am at a loss. I am certain I am writing the name and password I put in during the installation but must non the less have forgotten a detail in it.
Can you help suggest how to gain access to update and installing software again.

Might you have setup Firmware password protection in Mac OS X ...

It would block usage of all the startup keys, like C, N, T, D, CMD+s, CMD+Option+p+r, CMD +v, Option, and Shift, as well as booting from anything but the Hard Drive.
