How to restore a datafile? ... with a partial restore in OS backup?

Hello,
I replaced, for mistake, the datafile in path '/sca_dados2/sca_dados2' with the file '/oracle/dbs/sca_dados2' (another file without relation, just same name)
Then it cause the error:
ORA-01122: database file 5 failed verification check
ORA-01110: data file 5: '/sca_dados2/sca_dados2'
ORA-01204: file number is 16 rather than 5 - wrong file
we have the Oracle 7.3.2 and we don't have any database backup. We just have OS backup (AIX). The Oracle is in NO ARCHIVE LOG mode:
SVRMGR> archive log list
Database log mode No Archive Mode
Automatic archival Disabled
Archive destination ?/dbs/arch
Oldest online log sequence 94013
Current log sequence 94015
And I'd like to know if: Is it possible restore just the faulty file from OS backup to respective directory; or Is it necessary restore entire DB?
Any hint? What can I do?
Thanks a lot

Hello,
Because your database is in no-archive log mode, you would need to restore the entire DB along with the control file to start the db. This is important from data consistency point-of-view.

  • How to restore using increment backup after full backup restore in RMAN?

    Hi All,
We have a files of full backup of database after turning on the Archive log.
And after that, daily incremental backup is taken.
Now, i want to restore the the database into a new machine using both files of full and incremental backups. Can anybody give me script for restore of full backup and after that restore of incremental backup?
    Thanks,
    Praveen.

    Praveen,
    >>
In my case, i have 2 sets of backups. One is full backup and other is incremental backup. In order to keep the restored database upto date, i need to restore the full backup and then restore incremental backup. Now, i got any idea how to restore using full backup. My doubt is how to update the restored database with incremental backup also?
    >>
Restore always looks for level 0 backup, not the incremental backups.
Incremental backups comes in picture during recovery.
During Recovery, Oracle looks for incremental backups, if exists, it will do the recovery with the incremental backups, if no incremental backups available, then, it will look for archived logs.
Therefore, incremental backups never used during restore, they are used only during the recovery.

  • How to restore RMAN hot backup to another database on another server?

I want to know how to restore RMAN hot backup from production server to another database on a testing server.
The hot backup is from a database named PROD on the production server
The database to be restored with the hot backup is TEST on the testing server. There is already a PROD database on the testing server and this PROD database must be kept.
I have read some threads about changing initTEST.ora to PROD to restore such backup but (I think) will not work in my case since I already have a PROD database on the testing server.
The version is 11gR2 on Linux but the compatible parameter is set to 10.2.0.1.0.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi,

  • How to Restore  a DP backup

    hi,

    The backup was successful
But, there is no way to restore that using the Data Protector
Please let me know how to restore this SMB backup
is it possible to restore using HP DP or do we have to use BRRESTORE option?
    thanks

    Hi,
Please refer section Restoring Oracle Database of this useful document ["HP Data protector Integration Guide for Oracle and SAP"|http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00751982/c00751982.pdf] to get more detailed information.
You can restore Oracle DB directly on the Database. The Oracle Agent installed at Oracle DB host will take the whole responsibilities of DB Restore or You can dump it to other location and you can manually Restore Oracle DB.

  • How to restore a older backup with a new SIM

    Hi everyone!
I have a problem. I have a Iphone 4, which I bought with a contract in the UK. I recently went to a shop to unblock it (I live in France now)
Before I unlocked it I made a back up (i am new to this stuff) and now my phone is working with a new SIM card but when I do a back up from the Itunes, nothing comes back. I only see the apps that I downloaded in my Itunes, but no texts/emails/messages/photos. I made a newer back up/sync after that by mistake. But that wouldnt be a problem right? I can choose an older back up but it doesnt do much....
I tried it once before I dropped my phone at a shop to unlock it, and I could restore it but it took 3 hours so I cancelled. If I restore my backups now, it only takes a few seconds. So I think it is lost??
So somebody, please help me. I dont know what to do! I lost all my contacts etc...
    Please...!
    Cheers
    Marie

  • How to restore a previous backup?

I backup my iPhone 4sregularly.  I recently needed to reset it back to factory settings.  However, the only restore options I had in iTunes were two backups from just minutes before I did the reset.  How do I find other restore selections?

They don't exist. Backups are incremental; that is, a new backup is created by just saving changes from the previous backup. If you have an iCloud backup it saves the 3 most recent. But on your computer it saves only the most recent and the most recent of the previous iOS version.
For the future, if you have a Mac, you can force a new backup by going to iTunes Preferences, Devices tab. Right click on a back and choose "Archive" from the floating menu. The next backup will be from scratch. You can also restore a previous backup from Time Machine.
You can sort of do this with Windows if you regularly back up your user data.

  • How to restore an old backup

I need to restore my iphone to a backup and Itunes only shows two choices, but in my apple folder, there are older backups stored there. I need to restore to one of the older backups that Itunes does not show as an option. How can I do this?
When I connected my iphone 4 to Itunes, it asked me if I wanted to update the software. I selected yes. After the update, all my data on the phone was gone. I tried to restore and it did not put the old data, contacts, ect, on the phone. So all I essentially have is a new iphone 4 with nothing on it except the routine stuff that is always on there. All my notes, contacts, pix, are unrecovered so far. I need help or else I will be in big trouble. Please speak to me very plainly. I am not tech savvy.

  • How to restore iphone from backup?

I recently updated to 4.1 but lost all my contacts... how can I restore them from my itunes backup? thanks

Maybe, unless there is a problem with your iPhone's backup and it sounds like there is a problem with it or you wouldn't have lost any contacts.
Although contacts are included with your iPhone's backup, contacts are designed to be synced with a supported address book application on your computer and should be available on your computer with or without an iPhone or any cell phone. Not a good idea to depend on your cell phone alone for this data, which can be lost or stolen.
To restore your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup, select Restore under the Summary tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. When prompted to update your iPhone's backup, as the first step after selecting Restore, decline this prompt.
Go to iTunes > Preferences. Under the Devices tab, how many backups are shown? If more than one, what is the date and time shown for each backup? If there is more than one backup, you may not want to select the current backup - select a previous backup when restoring your iPhone with iTunes. After the firmware is re-installed, you will be prompted to restore from the backup, which is the default selection. If there is more than one backup available, the most recent backup will be selected by default. If more than one backup is available, you can select from another or previous backup.

    Hi everybody,
