How to restore a Dev phone to normal
Hi guys i was looking at buying a 2nd hand iphone. But its a dev phone. The guy says he has tried to restore it through itunes, but it always fails. Any ideas? Thanks
Depends on what OS is currently on the phone. Apple does not allow you to downgrade to 3.1.3 if 4.0 beta is on the phone, so you'll have to wait until 4.0 is officially released. You could try going into recovery mode to see if you can install 3.1.3, no guarantees it will work though:
1. Turn the phone completely off and disconnect it from cable/dock.
2. Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, itunes running.
3. Hold down the home button on the iphone.
4. While holding down the home button connect it to your computer.
5. Keep holding down the home button until you see a connect to iTunes screen.
6. If successful, you should be able to restore as a "new" device.

If it's showing the connect to iTunes screen then you will need to do that.
But Apple don't provide any method to update the first gen iPad to iOS 5 (nor do they support downgrading the iOS version). -
How to restore iPhone 3G back from OS4 to previous version of the OS?
OS4 is PAINFULLY slow on our 3G phones. Anyone have instructions on how to restore the 3G phone back to the 3.x OS?
As there is no official way it cannot be talked about here...thus our suggestion for Google. If you cannot find info, try different search terms. Like rollback OS or something else.

I was in the middle of updating to 7.0.3 and Itunes stopped working. Now my phone is stuck in limbo (apple logo with status bar under) My power button doesnt work (of course) How do I get it back to normal?
I have same issue. I click on the home button and Wake/sleep at the same time for 30 seconds or more and then the phone entered in Recovery mode. It is erasing my content now and installing the update. Let´s see how this ends. I have iCloud, iTunes match, and backups from previos versions, hope I can restore all my content.
Otherwise I´ll go to the Genius Bar to do a checkup.

It did not work the first time... The iPhone4 kept in limbo. Then I did disconnect as suggested above and tried again to enter in Recovery mode. This second time it works. And after restoring the iPhone4 with 7.0.3, it asked me if I want to recover from backup. I did recover from my latest back up and now it is syncing the content. -
My old phone broke and I am having trouble figuring out how to restore my contacts on my "new" phone (LG ENV2 Black). Apparently the phone is so old that I am unable to install Backup Assistant on it, which sucks. I have all my old contacts saved on my computer as a CSV and also another copy on a micro SD as VCF. I have tried moving the CSV from my computer to my ENV2 via both Bluetooth and USB cable, but had no luck with either of those. I also tried to pop the micro SD into the ENV2, and although I can load all my old pictures/videos/etc. from the micro SD, I do not seem to be able to restore the contacts from card. I know there has to be some way to manually transfer these files; the contacts are still on my old phone as well; but I was unable to use the transfer wizard for that because my old phonedoesn't seem to be supported by that (Pantech Jester 2)
Google a program called bitpim, that might do what you want. Never used it but it's been talked about on the forums. Other than that you might have to input them manually. Mary

2 iphone 4, 1 computer. i upgraded to ios 5 and just updated my wifes phone as well. her phone got wiped of all apps and all my contacts were put on her phone. we had been using the same apple id but different user acct on our laptop. How do i get her phone back to normal??
Have your wife log in to her user account on the laptop. Launch iTunes, then connect her phone to the computer with the USB cable. Sync. That should put back all apps and media. Since you already upgraded her to iOS 5 she'll have to manually enter all her settings and preferences, and organize her home screens.

I was trying to get the iOS 8.2 on my iPhone 5 but then it stopped and my phone is now on recovery mode I have pictures I need and they did not all fit on iCloud how can I use the phone again with ALL my pictures and videos without restoring it?
Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service.
Pictures taken with the device are designed to regularly be copied off the device to a computer as would be done with any digital camera.
If you have failed to use the device as designed it may be too late to recovery anything.
Is the device regularly backed up to a computer via iTunes? If so, the most recent backup (when restored to a replacement iOS device) should contain all contacts and pictures as of when the backup was created. -

When you connect your new phone, itunes running, Right-click (or Control-click) your phone in the device pane, and choose Restore from Backup. Follow this by syncing your itunes content back to your phone. The only things that won't ne restored are passwords for wifi & email. These are not restored for security reasons.

After plugging my phone into my computer, it asked me to update and then got stuck on the update page and the bar hasn't moved at all.
Then I plugged it into my computer after it died just like it told me to and it asked me if i wanted to restore my phone. i pressed 'okay' and it is stuck on the black page again for a few hours without the bar moving at all and my phone is completely useless.
