    - Reboot the computer and delete the download and try again. The update file is located here:
IPSW file location for Mac and Windows
    - Next would be to :
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    or
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    and then try again.

When trying to restore an i pod touch - I recieve an unknown error (1611).  We have retried the process a few times with the same result.

This error typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, this error may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. in that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

when i start my i pod touch(3rd gen) screen appears to shake first while starting what should i do to repair this ?

I really do not understand your problem. Here are the standard fixes.
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    -  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

An "other" that large usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files.  Usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

My i pod touch 4th gen. is in recovery mode. I am trying to back it up using i tunes but the option for backup is not highlighted. I am at a loss as to what I should do. I do not want to lose all of my pictures. I tried holding down the on/off button with the home button but that does not work. Keeps the touch in the same recovery mode. Suggestions??

No. If the photos are in a backup you made already then you can get them back by restoring from backup.
If they are in your PhotoStream you can get them from your stream. See that topic of:

  • Pin locked i pod touch 3rd gen

Help i have pin locked my i pod touch 3rd gen, i have tried putting it in recovery mode and doing a restore, it starts ok, but half way through it stops and comes up with a screen that says i tunes could not connect to i pod because it is locked with a passcode and needs to be unlocked first.  i have tried 3 times and do not want to try again.  does anyone now a way of unlocking it.

yes i get the screen with the usb cable on it and it says its needs restoring before i can use, it then asks me about updating to ios 5 and then it starts downloading software, even when the error screen comes up it is still downloading ios 5 software.  i dont want to keep trying incase i do any damage.

  • I pod touch 5th GEN

I've recently purchased an I pod touch 5th Gen and I re-set it because the previous owner forgot to and I forgot to turn the find my phone off so it required me to activate it, I have the previous owners apple ID and password and they are both correct because I used it to access his Icloud account. However it would not let me activate the Ipod it keeps saying something like "you can't use that email to activate this device" But i know it's the right apple ID because he sent me a photocopy of his invoice from apple when he purchased it in store and last night I went onto his Icloud account and removed the device from "find my phone" in hope that the activation ID would no longer be required but it still is and his ID still wont work. I don't understand why it wont activate because its the e-mail address he gave apple when he purchased it in store so how can it be linked to another account? I'm out of ideas what to do, any suggestions?
    Regards
    Tom
P.S. Please don't leave remarks about how you shouldn't buy second hand or it might be stolen or any useless information like this thanks.

Try getting the previous owner to to delete the iPod from their account by:
Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account
If you can't get that done and yo can't enter the Apple ID and password then return the iPod for a refund. Otherwise you will have an expensive, flat brick
Y may also what to contact the police since y yumay have a stolen or lost iPod

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • HT1414 I keep trying to restore my i pod touch and am getting nowhere I have checked usb port

Hi i am trying to update my i pod touch but it had error 1602 I followed all the instructions given but now it is stuck in recovery mode.... any suggestions?!

    Error 1604
This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.
    Error 1600, 1601, 1602
Follow the steps listed above for Error 1604. This error may also be resolved by disabling, deactivating, or uninstalling third-party security, antivirus, and firewall software. See steps in this article for details on troubleshooting security software.
Did you try on another computer and cable like the troubleshooting said to try last?
