How to restore an overwritten wav file?

I was recently working on a project and i accidently unplugged my hard drive from my pc, when i came back to work on my project again my recorded audio was playing in skips, i then soon realized my hard drive was unplugged, but when i went to plug it back in, it didnt fix the problem, so i decided to close audition, but when it asked my if i wanted to save the project i clicked on yes, which was my BIGGEST mistake, because it saved my audio file also, not my project, so now my audio file is playing in skips, so i was wondering if anyone could help me find a way to restore my audio file back to its original format!!? i tried finding the temp file but i didnt have any!!
please someone help me, i need my audio file back!!

If it is playing in skips then there must be must be some remnants of the file somewhere for Audition to attempt to play it.. Where does Audition think it is playing it from? If it is playing back audio with the hard drive unplugged the file must have been stored somewhere else. Where did the original audio file come from?
But the file on the removable drive could very well have been damaged by unplugging the hard drive before it was closed. In which case there is virtually no hope of retrieving the complete audio file from there.

simply drag and drop the files into the GB timeline

  • How can I convert a wave file to a jpeg file (picture) is it possible???

    Hello:
How can I convert a wave file to a jpeg file (picture) is it possible???

    zuckini;
I am pretty sure you know, but just to be completely sure: a wave is (usually) sound signal and a jpeg file is an image.
If you mean how to display the wave signal in a graph and then save the graph as a jpeg file, then just drop a graph indicator in the control panel, wire the signal. Check any of the example shipped with LabVIEW on how to do this. To get the image, drop a graph indicator's invoke node in the block and select "Get Image". Check this page for detailed information.
If you have something else in mind, please reply to this message with additional information about the wave signal, the image, etc.

  • How do I trim a .WAV file in iMovie 09?  / Proper aspect ratio for iPhone

    Hi,
I have a .WAV file that I want to use in my project but I need to trim off the first 1/4. How do I do the using iMovie 09?
Also I shot all of this with an iPhone. Which aspect ratio should I choose... It will be played on a WideScreen TV.
    Thanks.

I would use 16:9 for aspect ratio.
[See this video tutorial for how sound works|http://www.apple.com/findouthow/movies/imovie08.html#audioclips]. You can do it by dragging the handles on the end of the audio clip.

  • How do I batch convert wav files to mp3?

Just wondering how I can convert a batch of wav files into mp3 files (including metadata).
I was looking thru features in both soundbooth and bridge, but I can't find it (if it exists).
    Thanls

Found this FREE easy to use mp3 converter called All2Lame, here:
    http://members.home.nl/w.speek/all2lame.htm
You will also need to download LAME MP3 encoder, and copy the lame.exe & the lame_enc.dll files into the all2lame directory to get it to work:
    http://www.rarewares.org/mp3-lame-bundle.php
The program offers a lot of command line type options, so you need to read the documentation to understand all your choices, but here's a 'quickstart' line you can put into the 'switches' line that will make highest quality stereo mp3's using variable bit rate technique:
    --vbr-new -V 0 -q 0 --resample 44.1
If you prefer mono to save space, use this line:
    --vbr-new -V 0 -q 0 -m m --resample 44.1

  • How to restore iphoto library lost files

I need to know how to restore my iphoto library. I was trying to backup my photos using an external harddrive. I clicked the option key then opened iphoto. I tried to  send the photos to my ext harddrive but could not. I even tried to import my photos to files on my desktop, then drag and drop, but could not. I've done this before but now it won't work. Now when I can't open iphoto, here is nothing in my library. I had 10,000 pictures in labeled albums. Now nothing. How do I get the option mode off? The iphoto library has a foggy-gray look to it and I can't click on anything. My photos are still in my picture folders in my finder.
    Thanks for any help!

1 - Never make any changes of any dsort to the structure or content of the iphoto library - and it is best to jsut stay out of it as there are no user servicable parts in it
2 - to restore your iPhoto library you must first have a backup of it - do you? Time Machine or other backup program? or an exact copy of the iPhoto library?
    3 -
I clicked the option key then opened iphoto. I tried to  send the photos to my ext harddrive but could not.
exactly what did you do? this makes no sense - option launching iPhoto does not give you any option to send anything anyplace - it does give you the capability to select a different library.  If you did that then option launch iPhoto again, use the select library options and select your iPhoto library on your main drive

  • How do you lock a wav file to a video file in imovie?

I am importing separate wav and video files.  How do I lock the audio file to the video file after I sync them so that when I cut any video the audio stays in sync?  Or is there a way to embed the new audio into the video footage?

You can do that in Final Cut Pro X, but not in iMovie.
A good workaround in iMovie is to line up the WAV file with your video clip. Then use SHARE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME/Movie to QuickTime Movie/Options/Video Options/Compression/Apple Intermediate Codec. Save this file to a place you can find it. Then import it back into iMovie using FILE/IMPORT MOVIE...

  • How can I join 2 .wav files?

I need to join 2 short .wav files for a web site.
How do I do it and what do I need.
    thanks for any help.

WAV can hold audio in both compressed and uncompressed format. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WAV] The optimal way for joining the files will depend upon the format of the audio format contained in the WAV and the format of the output desired. For general audio I'd go with an audio editor such as Audacity or Amadeus Pro. There are also [scripts for itunes|http://dougscripts.com/itunes/itinfo/jointogether.php] that do this kind of thing, though more restricted in output. If the audio content is mp3 compressed you can use an editor such as MP3 Trimmer to do this without recoding the audio which results in better quality.

    Thanks,

Hello brandonosborn1, you can do it with your QuickTime Plugin, check if you set the option in Applications panel, see for more info : [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/set-how-firefox-handles-different-file-types#os=mac&browser=fx24 Set how Firefox handles different types of files].

  • How can I merge multiple wav files in Premiere?

    Hi Everyone,
So after I import my synced timeline from Plural Eyes and replace the audio clips I notice that the new XML file has multiple wav files for each of my cameras. I do know that dragging these wav files together increases the gain. Is there a way to have these wav files joined to make one solitary track and file with only one level? TIA
    Mike Diaz

The best method I can think of is to skip PluralEyes and all the issues that come with it.
    1. Create a sequence matching your media.
    2. Add the clips, sync manually.
    3. Create a second sequence matching your media.
    4. Nest the first sequence into the second.
    5. Right click that nested sequence, choose Multi-Camera>Enable.

  • How can I view embedded wav files

Is there any way of viewing and playing embedded wav files in LR5 like you can in bridge?

First thing to note is that the field for a wav file will only show when it's associated with an image. In order that they can be seen/played you'll need to select the EXIF and IPTC metadata filed list. See screenshot below. To play the wav file just click on arrow on right side of Audio File field
