Hello !
I need to restore archivelogs for 2 hours: to_date('04/08/2010 23:00:00','dd/mm/yyyy HH24:mi:ss')" until time "to_date('05/08/2010 01:00:00','dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi:ss'). I have this files on tape:
RMAN> list backup of archivelog from time "to_date('04/08/2010 23:00:00','dd/mm/yyyy HH24:mi:ss')" until time "to_date('05/08/2010 01:00:00','dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi:ss')";

Thanks in advance.

The error "A backup or restore session is already in progress. (100:17:0)" comes from the MML -- the Tape Management software. It prevents you from running a RESTORE.

  • How to restore a table using RMAN with previous backup ?

    Hi everyone,
    we have to restore a table from 1 week previous backup using RMAN.
    Could you show me how to restore a table using RMAN with previous full backup.
    please Help me out.
    Thanks
    Info > oracle 10g, OS: AIX5L

    Hi,
    first of all you must have all the archivelogs since you want to recover your table from the previous backups.
    anyways if you want to recover your table then you need to perform incomplete recovery to the point where you loss the table for that you need to restore and recover your database.you likely to loose all the transcation which occurs to the point where you you loose your table.
    thanks..

  • RESTORE ARCHIVELOG ALL VALIDATE; - returns log file names

    Environment:
    Oracle 11.2.0.3 EE on Solaris 10.5
    RMAN using control file as repository.
    My archive logs are going to /arch/<SID>. During a time of unforeseen high activity the directory was filling up and some of the files had to be move to a different mount point. I have since done several Level 0 incremental backups including (plus) archivelogs.
    My RMAN archivelog deletion setting is: CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO BACKED UP 1 TIMES TO DISK;
    I have since begun to run more frequent archive log backups to keep the mount point cleaner.
    Since I have several successful Level 0 backups including archivelogs, I manually deleted the archived logs on the secondary mount point.
    I registered the logs in the secondary mount point using REGISTER ARCHIVELOG START IN '/xxxx';
    I then ran a CROSSCHECK ARCHIVELOG ALL; to update the control file repository.
    When I query the V$ARCHIVED_LOG view I see many entries for my deleted log files with a STATUS = 'X' (Expired) and a BACKUP_COUNT = 0.
    I ran DELETE EXPIRED ARCHIVELOG ALL;
    Now when I query the V$ARCHIVED_LOG view I see many entries with blank name column for the SEQUENCE# in my list and with a STATUS = 'D' (Deleted) and a BACKUP_COUNT = 0.
    When I run a RESTORE ARCHIVELOG ALL VALIDATE; it returns a long list of my deleted files with:
    RMAN-06025: no backup of archived log ... to restore
    OK, enough background. My question is how do I get RMAN to not look for my deleted files since I have several good backups?
    I realize my deletion policy says the files have to be backed up once to disk, which according to the V$ARCHIVED_LOG view they are not, but I was hoping since I ran the CROSSCHECK RMAN would not even be concerned with them.
    Many thanks for any advice!!
    -gary

    Thanks for the help! Square brackets! Doh!
    I changed the SQL just a bit. I have only one (1) thread and the primary database was running for several months before the standby was implemented so there are over 3500 sequence#'s in the V$ARCHIVED_LOG view for the Primary (DEST=1) that are not in the Standby (DEST=2).
    Here's the SQL I ran, using the SQUARE brackets! :-)
    SELECT SEQUENCE#
    FROM V$ARCHIVED_LOG
    WHERE DEST_ID=1
    MINUS
    SELECT SEQUENCE#
    FROM V$ARCHIVED_LOG
    WHERE DEST_ID=2It appears to me the Standby is accepting and applying the archived logs from the Primary based on looking at the most recent archived log sequence#'s.
    I'm just trying to get rid of the entries in the RESTORE ARCHIVELOG VALIDATE; command output.
    I don't have an RMAN Repository but am using the control files at the moment.
    Any other suggestions are very welcomed!!
    Thanks again!

  • How to copy archivelog-files from a ASM instance to another ASM instance

    Hello ,
    our RAC database has to be moved to another Datacenter. The database has a size of several Terrabyte. Will will create a standby database (on a cluster) on the new datacenter (using RMAN backup). Since the RMAN backup takes rather long we would like to copy the archive logs to the new datacenter. Since the archivelog-files are stored on a dirskgroup of an asm instance we have the following question:
    - how can the archivelog files get copied from the current location to the new location?
    Rgds
    Jan

    VivaLaVida wrote:
    Many thanks for your answer...
    As a matter of fact the archivelogs are not backuped on a filesystem. If so we would copy them from the source to the destination host (that's easy).
    The question is "how to get them copied from one ASM diskgroup to another ASM diskgroup". RMAN might be a good solution - but we would need to
    figure that out...
    We talking about 100 GB of archivelogs a day - therefore we don't want to wait until the standby database is configured and online. To have the archivelogs
    already on the new host in the new datacenter would save alot of time.What is ASM version?
    The copy is peer to peer? (i.e Can you copy files from one ASM to another directly?)

  • Rman restore archivelogs files only, but in other machine.

    Hello,
    i need to restore archivelog files in another machine for use with logminer without use my actual +FRA for space reason and withouy use "set destination to"
    How i can do it?
    thanks and regards

    Hello,
    in the new machine i have a clone database with a init.ora file that use db_recovery_dest to new path (not +FRA) in a filesystem.
    When run a rman script this connect to target(production database) , rman catalog, and auxiliary (my clone database).
    I restore a clone controlfile, so mount the clone database, then restore logfile from sequence = xxxx until sequence = XXX , BUT the archivelogfile was restored in target database (production database) inside the +FRA
    This is my logfile of rman script.
    Regards.

  • How to restore specific backup file from RMAN?

    Hi,
    I am just begginer with Oracle DB so I do not have a lot knowledge.
    I created two backups at April the 8th and April the 10th.
    I did following from RMAN.
    shutdown immediate
    startup mount
    configure channel 1 device type disk format '/opt/oracle/backup/std_%U';
    backup database
    startup
    output was:
    including current control file in backupset
    including current SPFILE in backupset
    it created two files: std-0so6l0vn(2 GB) and std_0to6l106 (7 MB).
    First question - first file is backup and what is the second file???
    Today I created also backup and it also created two files: std_0uo6morg (2GB) and std_0vo6morv (7MB)
    Now I want to return backup from 2 days ago (*std-0so6l0vn*) but can't;
    I do the the following:
    shutdown immediate
    startup mount
    restore database from '/opt/oracle/backup/std_0so6l0vn'
    but getting error - only SPFILE or control file can be restored from autobackup.
    How to restore my backup from two days ago? It looks to me so complicated and hardly understandable.
    What command to execute from RMAN to succeed in restore?
    Thank you

  • RMAN9I HOW TO RESTORE ARCHIVE LOGS WITH LIMITED DISK SPACE

    제품 : RMAN
    작성날짜 : 2002-12-09
    RMAN9I HOW TO RESTORE ARCHIVE LOGS WITH LIMITED DISK SPACE
    ==========================================================
    PURPOSE
    이 자료는 Oracle 9.2 이상의 RMAN에서 사용 가능한 MAXSIZE 기능에 대하여
    설명할 것이다.
    How to restore archive logs with limited disk space
    Old Backup을 사용하여 RMAN으로 database를 recvoery할때, 모든 archived
    redo logfile들을 Restore할 destination의 disk space가 모자란 경우를 종종 만난다.
    이러한 경우 여러 개의 restore and recovery job으로 나누어 수행한다.
    즉, 첫 번째 restore and recovery job이 끝나면 archived redo logfile들을 지우고
    다음 적용될 것들을 restore한다. 그리고 다시 Recovery를 수행한다. 이러한 작업을
    원하는 시점까지 recovery를 하기위해 반복적으로 수행한다.
    Oracle 9iR2(9.2.0.x)부터 RMAN은 MAXSIZE option을 제공하는데 이것은 archive log
    file이 restore될 disk의 space를 control할 수 있게 해 준다.
    만약 disk space가 매우 제한적이라면, 즉 예를 들어 모든 archive log의 size 합보다
    disk free space가 적다면 MAXSIZE option을 사용하는 것은 매우 유용하다.
    이 OPTION이 기술되면 RMAN은 Media Manager에게 disk space 크기에 부합하는 만큼만
    archive log들을 restore하도록 한다. 부가적인 restore operation들은 restore된
    마지막 archive log가 적용될 때마다 발생한다.
    MAXSIZE option은 이러한 작업들을 하나의 rman job으로 처리하게 해 주고
    실수를 하지 않게 해 준다.
    아래는 MAXSIZE를 설명하기 위한 예제이며 총 6 단계로 구성되어 있다.
    STEP 1: Add data to the database to enforce log switches
    STEP 2: Backup the database and archive logs and delete the logs
    STEP 3: Add additional data to enforce new log switches
    STEP 4: Remove the data file and simulate a database crash
    STEP 5: Restore the data file from the backup
    STEP 6: Recover the database using MAXSIZE
    위 예제는 Unix와 Windows 모두에 적용될 수 있다.
    STEP 6 는 다음과 같은 조건으로 두 번 수행될 것이다.
    1) MAXSIZE가 archive log size보다 작은 경우:
    이 경우 RMAN-6558 Error message를 만나게 된다.
    그러므로 MAXSIZE를 archive log보다는 크게 설정해야한다.
    2) MAXSIZE가 archive log size보다 큰 경우:
    예를 들어 여러 개의 archive log를 포함할 수 있을 정도로 크게 설정하면
    restore/recovery는 user에게 transparent하게 수행되어진다.

    # Step 6: RECOVER
    run {
    recover database delete archivelog maxsize 10 K;
    # This will fail with RMAN-6558 as the archived log has a size of 16 KB,
    # which is bigger than MAXSIZE limit of 10 KB. So the error is expected
    # and MAXSIZE works as designed.
    # Now rerunning STEP 6: but with MAXSIZE 50 K
    run {
    recover database delete archivelog maxsize 50 K;

    cold backup means offline backup, you shut database normally and copy datafiles to another location.
    i think operating system does not matter that much but it is RedHat Linux Enterprise Server.
    backing up archivelogs whith rman script which is:
    run {
    allocate channel c1 type disk format '$BKUPLOC/arch_%d_%u_%s_%p.bkp';
    change archivelog all validate;
    sql 'ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG CURRENT';
    backup archivelog time between 'SYSDATE - (30*60/(60*60*24))' and 'sysdate';
    release channel c1;
    so here is the details.
    1. because everything is lost, we restored all files(datafiles, controlfiles, redologs etc) from offline backup meaning copied all files from another location to corresponding location.
    2. want to apply archive logs which were created after cold backup till disk failure and we have these archive logs with backups which were taken by rman.
    So
    first of all, we want to register these archive log rman backups(because these backup information does not exist in restored controlfile)
    and then restore them and then apply them.
    we need rman commands to register these backups and restore them.

  • How to restore old prefs, etc after clean reinstall of 10.3.9?

    Due to a fiasco with Drive Genius I was forced to reformat and reinstall 10.3.9. Luckly, I was bright enough to manually copy over the entire contents of the drive to a firewire drive before I started the drive genius project.
    I was able to find directions on how to restore my users which worked perfectly.
    I've copied all the apps back. But all the apps were in the main drive rather than in users, so the prefs, registrations etc are, I assume, stored in the old library.
    Is there a way to replace the new library with the original to avoid several days work digging out the original packaging to get the serial numbers for re-entering so I can get back to work right away?

    The serial #s, etc were in fact in the original main library. I was able to restore the use of all the programs by manually replacing the missing items in each folder in the library. It took over an hour, but I got it all back and saved me from having to rummage through storage boxes for the original documentation to retrieve and re-enter all the info.

    Wow!  I think I had this same issue just last night.
    I was cleaning my macbook pro retina on the outside.  Then I opened it up and was wiping dust off the monitor and I can't pinpoint exactly when, but the colors changed suddenly.  It looked super strange, it was like green halo's and it looked worse when looking at it at an angle.  Of course I took no pictures!!!  I was freaking out that my 2 grand laptop was busted and I somehow removed a protective film or something.
    But I digress...  The image looked very green and spacey, it was almost a neat effect.  After about 5 minutes it started to look a little more digital though.  There were straight lines of this halo effect on the edges and top.  After about 10 minutes it turned into a predominate issue with the blacks on screen.  I could open a web browser and it was unnoticable on a white background.  After about 15 minutes, you could only barely see the green cloud effect if you looked at the monitor from an extreme angle.  After about 20 minutes, it was completely back to normal, I almost feel paranoid like I see a halo or something strange.  But I believe that might be all in my head now.
    So yerp, lemme know what you guys figure out.

  • My old phone broke and I am having trouble figuring out how to restore my contacts on my "new" phone (LG ENV2 Black)...

    My old phone broke and I am having trouble figuring out how to restore my contacts on my "new" phone (LG ENV2 Black).  Apparently the phone is so old that I am unable to install Backup Assistant on it, which sucks.  I have all my old contacts saved on my computer as a CSV and also another copy on a micro SD as VCF.  I have tried moving the CSV from my computer to my ENV2 via both Bluetooth and USB cable, but had no luck with either of those.  I also tried to pop the micro SD into the ENV2, and although I can load all my old pictures/videos/etc. from the micro SD, I do not seem to be able to restore the contacts from card.  I know there has to be some way to manually transfer these files; the contacts are still on my old phone as well; but I was unable to use the transfer wizard for that because my old phonedoesn't seem to be supported by that (Pantech Jester 2)

    Google a program called bitpim, that might do what you want.  Never used it but it's been talked about on the forums.  Other than that you might have to input them manually.  Mary

  • Any ideas about how to restore old appearance on my iPhone?  I just updated to IOS7 and really dislike the new appearance. I have to log on to see percentage of power used since I can't see it on my opening screen. I also want the gray folders back.

    I just updated to ios7 and do not like the redesign. I want the old design back. Has anyone found out how to restore the old appearance. I do not understand why the change. I now have to unlock my phone to be able to check my battery level because my screensaver has a light color in the upper corner and I can't read the text. I want the gray panel back.
