  • How to tackle files other then jars inorder to run Client applications?

    Hi,
    I am moving my client application to run through JWS. In order to run client application, i need to download files other then jars like xml, some bin files etc. My JNLP file is something like following.
    <security>
    <all-permissions/>
    </security>
    <resources>
    <j2se version="1.6"/>
    <jar href="client.jar" download="eager"/>
    <jar href="log4j.xml" download="eager"/>
    </resources>
    During downloading of XML, JWS raises exception for XML file "#### Could not verify signing in resource: tttp://testmachine:8080/classes/log4j.xml"..
    #1 How can i avoid these Exception ?
    #2. Can only Jar files be downloaded by JWS or i need to package files other jar into jar file format ?
    Appreciate if someone can help me on that matter?

    The jnlp specification only allows jar files as resources . Downloading anything else would not help anyway as there would be no way to access it. Only the classloader has access to the downloaded resources, so it is required to bundle all other resources in jar files and access them with Thread.currentThread().getResourceAsStream("myfile.xml");

  • Use Sync to restore bookmarks after Windows restore

    My PC crashed and would not reboot. Had to completely reinstall Windows7. Had been using Firefox and Sync prior. had to re-download Firefox, but of course all of my (many!) bookmarks are gone. The Sync promo says they are stored "on Mozilla's servers". >> How can I get them back?

    Thanks Ed. Don't know for sure what version of Firefox I was using before the crash. I did the login as you suggested and got the "Manage" screen. When I click on that it takes me into sync settings. The only option there is to "Disconnect". How do I "restore previous bookmarks"?

  • How do I delete and then re-download my library.

    Over the last three years I have been downloading songs from iTunes mostly from my phone.  This works fine 99% of the time, however, there are dozens, if not hundreds, of songs in my library that I have paid for and "downloaded" yet they will not play more than half way through.  Some albums have half, or nearly all of the songs cut off, and other albums will only have one song that is cut off.  They seem to be completely random occurances, and the one time I singled an album out and tried to delete then download it again, the same songs kept reloading cut off, no matter how many times I tried.  The songs appear in the library just like they should, in the right order and everything, and like I said they will play something, but never more than half of the song, and most of the time it's just the opening or a few seconds and then nothing.  If I scroll out the track to the part that gets cut, it just jumps me to the next song.  The genuis told me to delete my linrary and then re-download it, yet I am a little hesitant as I have no real way of knowing I'll get it back.  Is there a specific proceedure for people with my issue, or some kind of iTunes/Library reset i could trigger?  Any ideas?  Thank you.

    Hi, Strayor.
    Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
    To verify what you have purchased with your Apple ID, see the steps in the article below.  It will give you the option to view all purchases or what is not in your library.
    Downloading past purchases from the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
    The best option would be to just delete only the problematic media verses the whole library and just download what is missing.  However, to delete all of your music you would select a song in your music library and select Command+A.  From there you would hit the delete key.
    How to delete content you've downloaded from the iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, or Mac App Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5772
    I would recommend making a backup of your media library as a precaution.  Here are the steps on how to process these steps.
    iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • Safari Bookmarks were automatically restored after Disk Reformat and OS X Mountain Lion re-installation

    Hi to All,
    I was just wondering how my Safari Bookmarks were auto restored after I performed a Disk Erase/Reformat, and re-installed from scratch my OS X Mountain Lion. After my login into the new reformatted OS X Mountain Lion Disk, I noticed my old Bookmarks were there as before on the Safari Bookmarks Bar.
    I know this is not a priority support question But I was just wondering how this was done, so I may continue to learn about Mac OS X Mountain Lion and its features like Safari, iCloud, and so forth
    Thanks in advance for the feedback. Cheers!

    Thx! Linc Davis,
    I anticipated you will contribute to my question
    I know iCloud does it, but I was confused on whether iCloud does it automatically or if I did something to enable this feature. Would you please confirm?
    Thx & Cheers!

  • How often it is allowed to restore an iPhone?

    Hello,
    I am facing internet connection problems on my iPhone 4S. An Apple Genuis recommended that I should restore my iPhone and start as a new device, however, I was under the impression, that it there is a problem with the carrier.
    The problem remained even after the carrier upgraded his network, so they told me to come back to the store when the technical guy is available, and be sure that you make a backup. I realised that they will restore it, so, i can do it on my MacBook. I did backup to my iPhone and restored it, then started as new to find out if the problem would be solved.
    Luckily, the problem was solved, but I wanted to know what data (app data, games socres and levels, settings,...) I can manage to restore back from iCloud after I restore my iPhone and set it up as a new device. So I did another restore for that, then restore back to my backup.
    I am worried if restoring an iPhone frequently affects its life span (Hardware, Flash Memory,..), or is it just copying data to my iPhone when it restores? (ex. 20 GB are used on my iPhone, so when I restore, it is like copying 20GB to it and deleting them again? or it will affect the hardware as well?)
    Thank you..
    Best Regards,
    AbdulRahman Deeb

    Nothing to worry about. Restoring an iPhone with iTunes completely erases the iPhone first including iOS followed by the current iOS version being reinstalled. After iOS is reinstalled, you are prompted to restore from an available backup or as a new iPhone or not from the backup.

  • How do I disable the History | Restore Previous Sesssion option. It is a privacy issue.

    Hi I have upgraded to firefox 4.
    It seems that no matter how I shut down firefox or what security settings I use the options History | Restore Previous Session is always enabled when I restart firefox.
    This is the same big button that appears on the default firefox browser home page.
    Even if I shut down with only one tab open it still has the option available and that goes back to the single tab.
    Clearing history before shutting down firefox does not help.
    I found the web page where someone had actually requested this functionality but niether of the pricay settings he suggested to tweak this feature did anything when adjusted.
    These were:
    browser.sessionstore.privacy_level
    browser.sessionstore.privacy_level_deferred
    in about:config
    How do I get rid of this menu item/'feature' ?
    I tried turning on browser.showQuitWarning in about:config as suggested on another site and that givs me the 'do you want to save your session tabs' dialog when I shut firefox like it used to in firefox 3.x. So I was semi happy with this. However this did not stop the Restore previous Session being available even if I selected quit (no dont save tabs option) on the dialog.
    I do not want to be able to restore the previous session unless:
    a) firefox crashed
    or
    b) I expressly told it to save my session on shutdown.
    I also have the tools | options | general | when firefox starts set to 'show my home page'. So I dont think thats related.
    Cheers.
    Anyhelp appreciated.

    To Response: cor_el
    Thanks. Following that link I worked out how to clear the history automatically on shutdown.
    Having firefox auto clear my history ensures the 'Restore Presvious Session' is not available next time firefox starts.
    However, if I then want to force it to save my session on shut down I cant. I can get the 'Do you want to save your session' dialog, as in firefox 3.6x, by having about:config browser.showQuitWarning set to true. After restarting firfox however my tabs are not restored.

  • All ipod files have been converted to "other" how do i fix w/out restoring

    all of my music and video, and other files in general have been converted to "other" when my ipod was unfortunately ripped from my computer and it now says i have 0 music,0 playlists, and 0 videos. everything is listed as "other" and I cannot reach anything else. my real problem is that I don't want to Restore my Ipod. Restoring my ipod is my absolute last choice. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how i could get my music back without restoring my ipod because i don't have all of my music and videos on my computer any longer and it would be and extremely hard task getting everything that was in the library back considering size and how i don't sync because i need everything perfectly organized. any advice or help would be awesome. thanks.

    Have a look at these instructions for recovering music from your iPod.
    Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it relies on the iPod database being accessible.
    It may well be that that database is corrupt (hence all the music being unable to be read by the iPod and showing as other), and in that case a restore is your only option.
    how i don't sync because i need everything perfectly organized.
    I'm not clear as to what you mean by that. Surely if you want everything "perfectly organized" then auto syncing your iPod to your iTunes library is the way to go since that would give you a mirror image of your iTunes on your iPod.
    By the sound of it you don't have all these music and videos etc in your iTunes library (or a back up anyplace else). Now you can see why that's a bad idea.
    If you had a back up, you could simply restore the iPod and reload the content.

  • I have iphone 3gs. I upgraded its software through itunes but it stopped reading sim. Then I restored but since then iphone is locked with message to insert a carrier compatible sim. I've checked my sim is ok. How to restore the iphone?

    I have iphone 3gs. I upgraded its software through itunes but it stopped reading sim. Then I restored but since then iphone is locked with message to insert a carrier compatible sim. I've checked my sim, it is ok. How to restore the iphone?

    I'm going to make some guesses here. You bought your phone second hand. In other words, not from Apple and not from your carrier. What you got is a hacked phone that was originally carrier locked, most likely to AT&T in the US. You are NOT in the US. (If I get any of this wrong, please tell me).
    What has happened is when you updated the software, it was re-locked to the original carrier.  ONLY the carrier can authorize an unlock. If it is locked to AT&T, you're out of luck as they WILL NOT unlock an iPhone for any reason.
    If it's locked to another carrier, you will have to find out what carrier that is (you can NOT tell by looking at the model number) and find out if they unlock iPhones. If you can't find out, or if they do not, then your only real option is to sell the phone and purchase one from a LEGITIMATE source.
    You can find out who the supported carriers are here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1937

  • My question is about the 'Restore Backup' option on iTunes (Not 'Restore iPhone'). So, if I click on Back Up Now, then 'Restore Backup', would that go through the process of erasing everything on my phone as new then restore whatever iTunes has backed up?

    My question is about the 'Restore Backup' option on iTunes (Not 'Restore iPhone'). So, if I click on Back Up Now, then 'Restore Backup', would that go through the process of erasing everything on my phone as new then restore whatever iTunes has backed up?
    I do not want this to happen, as with previous experience iTunes doesn't restore a mirror of what the iPhone was when it was backed up as is the case with iCloud backups.
    What I am trying to do is, as I've found a method on Youtube, there is an application where I can delete all the multimedia saved in my 'iMessages' so clear up some space. As doing that manually through the phone would take a lifetime. The method is to backup on iTunes, then using the backup created, importing that into the application then deleting the messages through that then restoring the phone using that amended backup.
    So back to my question, would restoring through 'Restore Backup' just restore the backup internally or would it flush the entire phone and then restore the backup? And if it does so, what would be lost in the restore?
    Thank you all,
    Fahmid

    iCloud should overwrite your phone with the data stored in your account, preserving your newer data.  However, to be sure I would go to Settings>iCloud and turn data syncing to Off before restoring the backup.  Then, after restoring the backup, turn the data syncing back to on, and when prompted about Merging with iCloud, choose Don't Merge.  This will ensure that the data in your iCloud account overwrites the data on your phone (which is your goal).
    Also, you don't sync text messages with iCloud so you will end up losing your more recent messages when they are overwritten by the backup.

  • Set up new iPhone 5 with iCloud restore, then iTunes created new library with only content already on phone. How do I find and sync everything in original library?

    My daughter got a new iPhone 5 and we set it up using the option to restore her iPhone 4 backup from iCloud. This worked great and everything on the old phone showed up on the new phone. Because we were traveling, we weren't able to sync the iPhone 5 with iTunes at that time.
    She purchased new apps and music on the iPhone 5. When we returned home she synced with iTunes, and it seems to have created a new library, with only the content currently on the phone. I don't know if it prompted her to do this on the first sync or not - she doesn't remember.
    So in iTunes, the library now only shows the music on the phone. A sync isn't doing much now because when choosing the phone in iTunes and selecting each content type across the top (Apps, Music, Movies, TV Shows) the box is unchecked to sync that content. When I check the box to "Sync Music", iTunes gives a warning:
    Are you sure you want to sync music? all existing songs and playlists on the iPhone Becca's iPhone will be replaced with songs and playlists from your iTunes library.
    Same goes for apps, except that warning also mentions that the apps and their data will be erased and replaced.
    At some point she was also getting a message that this iPhone was associated with another library, but I'm not sure how she had triggered that. She says she canceled out of that. I can see all of the music
    How do we get iTunes to see the "old" library of songs, videos and apps without losing the ones she's purchased already on the iPhone? The music files themselves are still on the computer, and include music both purchased from iTunes as well as music ripped from CDs. Thanks for any advice!

    My late 2011 Macbook Pro is not working properly it is very slow and extremely painful to use, I went to a Genius Bar appointment, they were not helpful at all and just told me to go off and reboot my Mac and then restore via TimeMachine. I dont know how to do this. I am extremely displeased with Apple at the moment, can someone please help me?

    Your problem description is generalized and non-specific. I would make another appointment at the Apple store and insist they help you execute their suggested fixes.
    Incidentally, if you search this site, Apple has excellent articles re: restoring a system.
