How to restore cluster to different servers

Our 2-node cluster is being included in DR test this year. Our site provider is being asked to prepare servers, network and storage to host the cluster. We will restore from EMC BCV backup and then try to bring up the cluster.
OS = solaris, storage is asm on emc san, only oracle clusterware for management. DB is 11.1.0.7.
Questions:
1) do the servers need to have the same host names as what we have today in production ? (Network will be isolated to DR site). Can we restore the cluster from backup if the servers have different host names?
2) do the storage device names need to have the same names as on our local san - disk groups internally are expecting certain device names I believe?
WOuld appreciate replies from anyone who has performed similar disaster recovery exercises before using EMC BCV backups (which is a type of hot backup).

Use oracle dataguard technology for oracle database DR setup. So the server names can be different and you can easily do the tasks of failover to DR site and switchback to production after testing the failover.

We have Oracle server running here without any DRP in place. For beginning I am trying to figure out how to restore server in case of hardware failure.

What I have are cold backup dump files for all server partitions taken while server is down over night.
.... and I am not Oracle DBA although I know few things ... how to prepare machine and install Oracle ... bring instances up and down ... you know .... basic things.

How to get websites on different servers

I have two websites that I'm trying to host with Azure Website but I need them to be on different servers. I originally created them in the same subscription so they obviously got put on the same server. I thought I had read somewhere that if you create
a new subscription and the website to that, then it would be on a different server but that doesn't seem to be working. Both sites still point to the same IP address and have the same server name listed. Is there any way to ensure that both sites
get placed on different servers.

If you host the sites in two different Web Hosting Plans, they will be on different servers. See

Hi,
you could write a TRIGGER in the master table which would update the other table or you could have a procedure which you could run every hour or depending upon how frequently you want to update the other table. Every thing depnds upon how frequently the MASTER is updated, how quickly you want the information transferred to the other table ....

Have you created a domain using the config tool ( which gives you just an admin server and no managed servers )?
Start your admin server & login.
Create a session in the Change Center
Create 1 machine within the admin console for each host: ( Domains -> Environment -> Machines - > New ). Use the actual host name for the value of Machine Name.
So create a machine named "myhost1.yourcompany.com" and a machine named "myhost2.yourcompany.com".

Hallo... seems I have problem with downloading backup from my older ipad mini (16gb) into newer ipad mini retina (32gb)... during the first setup it aksed me if I want to restore backup from older device, but since my older ipad and its backup was on ios 8.0.2 and newly purchased ipad was still on 7.1.2 i needed to skip this and upgrade os first. now I have new device set up and running ios 8 but I can not get into it backup from older device. what to do?

Resetting the iPad back to factory defaults should take you to the setup process and let you restore to an iCloud backup : Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings
Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes :
You can go through the iOS Setup Assistant again by erasing all the content on the device. Just tap Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. This will remove all content from your device, so do this only if you already have a backup. The iOS Setup Assistant is the only way to restore a backup.

I think I have it working on my iPhone 5. But, I do not see how I can control the exit point that I would like for the VPN. Are all the exit points shown in the VPN setting now going to work with Open VPN, or do they remain PPTP? If I am reading correctly, they look like they remain PPTP. If I cannot control the exit point for open VPN, which exit point is the default in the profile you provided me?I note that Open VPN Connect does not work with any of the new 64 bit devices like the iPhone 5S, the iPad Air, and the new iPad MIni. Just a quick note to tell you that Open VPN has updated their app so that it is compatible with 64 bit ARM devices like the iPhone 5S, the iPad Air, and the iPad Mini Retina.That does not resolve the problem of how to easily choose among the various possibilities for the exit server. We need to find an easy way to choose.

How to Break the cluster between Two servers

Hi Experts,
Since Iu2019m new to BOBJ XI R2.I would like to know how to break the cluster between two servers.
Description :
So far we took the copy of QAS Server1 to the new QAS server2 (Through Mirroring Tool ). Now those two servers are cluster together, I can see QAS server1 CMS Name, Cluster Name, cluster member name in QAS Server2 (CMC-> Setting -> Cluster).
Besides in QAS Server1 CMS Name and Cluster name are pointing to the QAS Server1, except Cluster Member (This is still have two members Server1 and Server2).(CMC-> Setting -> Cluster).
In QAS Server1 and QAS Server2 (CMS-> Servers), I can able see both server name under Machine Name tab.
I would like to make those two servers as independent servers. There are two different data source for those two servers. I want to remove the cluster in both servers.
Right now QAS Server1 is running and QAS Server2 is stopped.
If i create/modify a group under new Mapped NT Member Groups in QAS server2 ,it is getting reflecting in QAS server 1.
Could you please tell me the steps to resolve this problem.

Hi,
Maybe the external CMS is still 'attached' to your SIA node. Please go to the CCM (Central Configuration Manager) and stop the SIA (Server Intelligent Agent). On one of the tabs you can see if there is an external CMS part of your environment. Delete it and restart the SIA. Retry if you can delete the services now from within your CMS. It may well be that you have to stop both environments and delete each others CMS via the CCM to get it working. If you have not changed any permissions for your Administrator account the security model will not be the one causing this.

I believe because you migrated from a Nokia to an iPhone you need to register the Bn phone number with your Apple ID so it can be used for iMessage. The Pn number seems to be the only one registered

First, that statement - and those materials - refer to the "legacy" StreamInsight query/adapter model. They do not refer to how things work with the Reactive model introduced in version 2.1. Specifically, it talks about Dynamic Query Composition (DQC).
You cannot use a deployed Observable in another instance of StreamInsight. You may be able to use them across applications in the same instance - off the top of my head, I'm not sure. I'm getting ready to get on a plane but will take a look at it later.
Typically, however, applications act as containers (comparable to .NET AppDomains) so I don't think that you'd be able to do this easily. That said, the code and assemblies
can be reused across multiple instances/applications. You would have separate instances of the classes involved but you would be able to reuse the query logic. That's a common use case.
Can you be more specific about your use case and what you are trying to accomplish here? It's possible that there are alternative ways to do what you are trying to do.

How to setup a Cluster of 3 servers on weblogic 9.2?

I'm trying to setup a cluster of 3 servers on WebLogic 9.2 on one physical computer.
I managed to startup 3 servers from cmd in windows like this:

Now I can open each of the 3 servers directly from my browser:

Do I need machine and virtual host, and what is their purpose? Node manager? Can somebody explain those things? What i did wrong?

You have some reading to do to increase your familiarity with cluster / managed servers.

Apache + Weblogic plugin for instance, but I don't think you'll be keeping all 3 instances on the same physical machine as your production design.

You should have your managed instances on separate physical machines since your current configuration is vulnerable to a single machine failure which would shutdown all 3 instances.

          Just remove clustering properties both from command line and the
          properties files.
