How to restore data on new iphone without using the initial setup

I bought a new iphone 5s today but the guy in the shop skipped the initial setup to activate the sim meaning I didn't get to restore the data through iCloud from my old phone as the wifi in the shop wasn't working. I have now got home to a wifi connection and have signed into my iCloud account but how do I restore my data? Or how do I get back to the initial setup?

On your phone: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. You can now restore your previous phone's backup to your new phone.

  • How can I turn off my iphone without using the power off button

I dropped my Iphone 5s in water and now the screen won't allow me to slide it over to power off. There's some water in the screen and it's not working correctly.

Press and hold the "Sleep/Wake" button located on the top of the iPhone.
Hold the "Home" button on the front of the iPhone while continuing to hold the Sleep/Wake button.
Release the buttons as soon as the iPhone's screen turns black to turn it off. Do not continue to hold the buttons or the device will reset.
    Hope it can help you.
    Merry Christmas!

Willy, the procdedure you describe works perfectly for AppleTV G1. In fact, I frequently play DTS music discs ripped to my iTunes library as Apple Lossless (ALAC) and synched to the ATV. What happens is that, as far as iTunes and the ATV are concerned, a conventional stereo 16/44 audio file is being played; however my reciever detects the DTS data stream, and instead of outputting static, it decodes the 5.1 channels correctly. This process parallels the way DTS discs were designed to be played back: a conventional CD player is connceted, via digital out, to a DTS-aware reciever/pre-amp and the two channels of static are recognized as 6 channels of DTS-encoded audio.
However this process will only work if the player (CD, ATV, PC, etc.) sends a "bit-perfect" 16 bit/44.1 khz data stream to the decoding device. In the case of ATV G2 and G3, as has been discussed elsewhere, the unit resmaples all audio - including 16/44 PCM (Redbook CD)  - to 16/48. While this is not a big deal for conventional audio CDs, MP3s, and AAC files, it mangles the fragile DTS datastream and renders it undecodable. The resulting static that you hear is just like the static you would hear if you played a DTS CD on a non-DTS capable system.
Sadly, I'm not aware of any easy way around this. You could use a program like Foobar (and the DTS plugin) to convert your DTS CDs to 6-ch .wav or .flac file. From there you could transcode the file to AC-3 and then mux it into a video container that ATV supports. You may need add a dummy video track, for iTunes/AppleTV to be ok with the file, though I'm not sure. This may be a lot of work.
Sorry for the bad news. I wish that the iTunes/ATV ecosystem had better multi-channel audio support.

Icloud or itunes backup, only backs up app data, not the app itself.
so if you restore as new, then there is no app data on your phone, you start out new...

" When I did this, my library showed all the music I have "purchased" from itunes but did not have the music that I downloaded a long time ago through itunes from my old CDs."
    Correct.
" How can I get that music to show up in my library now on my new computer?  "
Copy it from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.
The sync is one way - computer to ipod.

  • How can I create a new entry without using LOV for foreign keys.

How can I create a new employee without using LOV for the foreign key "job_id".
On the first page I would like to choose the job_title from adf read-only table.
After clicking on the "create new employee button" a creation form appears in which the job_id field is set with previous selection.

    Hi,
usually the foreign key is only set if the VO you select is dependent from a master. If e.g. you have DepartmentsVO1 that has an EmployeeVO3 as its nested VO, then creating a new instance of employees automatically add the foreign key. If you add EmployeesVO1, which is not dependent to DepartmensVO1, then the foreign key is not set. So if this is the case in THURA (keep in mind that this is not an Oracle demo but a sample used in a book about ADF) then all you need is to take the independent VO when building the new employee form.

Do you think that apple has to   reset in their database of the old serial number attached with my phone number and that’s why I can´t activate imessage and facetime with my number in the new iphone 4s??

I understand all of this Meg; that is why I bought an Iphone; but never expected my phone not even give a at least a 24 or even 12 hours....I work 12 hour shifts and also would expect to have to charge each night but not twice a day or more.  I am not always somewhere I can charge my phone.
Your points are true; however it doesn't help me......

  • How do I sync my new Iphone without restoring it to a really old version?

I just got a new  iPhone as a replacement . I dont want anyof my newer contacts erased but I need to sync my iphone to my itunes and its asking me to restore as new or restore to an old backup from 4 months ago. How do I get around this.

Was all the music purchased on iTunes? If yes then you own that music, just like if you buy an app you can always reinstall it under that Apple ID. If not and the music is on you itunes then just sync your music and choose what songs you want. If you have iTunes match ($25 a year) then you will always have all your music on all your Apple devices. It also makes sure the quality is as high as possible and all your album artwork is there.

  • How to restore data on new hard drive

My old hard drive crashed and now I need to move the data I'd been backing up on an external hard drive. I believe I did a whole drive backup weekly.
How do I go about transferring the data from the external to the new internal drive?
    Thank you.

Have you formatted the new HD to HFS+ (Journaled)?
Is your backup HD connected via Firewire? If so boot to the external HD & use the same cloning software to transfer the files back to your new HD.
If your external HD is connected via USB, you'll have to use your Tiger install DVD to install Tiger on the new HD. Then boot to the new HD & install* the update to 10.4.11. Then, drag & drop the files/applications on the external HD back to the new HD.
*After you install the base 10.4.x, update to the final Tiger version 10.4.11. Here's the link for the 10.4.11 combo update http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24901?viewlocale=en_US

  • How do I sync my new iphone without deleting everything in my library?!

Last time I got a new iphone, all my music was deleted when I first synced it with my itunes library. How do I make sure that doesn't happen again?! What exactly do I have to click when the initial message pops up asking if I want to sync the new device. Some people have said yes, some people have said no. I need a postive answer please!

  • How do i take an app that's on my ipod touch with pictures and transfer it to my new iphone without losing the pictures

I have an app on my ipod touch with pictures on it, and i want to transfer the app and pictures onto my new iphone with the pictures and everything

You need to authorize the new computer in iTunes, transfer purchases from the iPad into the new iTunes library, backup the iPad and then restore the iPad from the newly created backup and then sync with iTunes.
This discussion describes the process in great detail.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3305461
As stated above, you can download apps again at no charge as long as you use the same ID. Depending on where you live, (in the U.S.) you can download just about everything again that you have purchased as long as you use the same ID.

  • Using time capsule to restore data to new computer and doing the back-up for the new computer

    Hello
My iMac has broken down. Data were saved by Time Machine on a Time Capsule. So the new computer was set-up with things from the Time Capsule. Worked fine. The Time Machine informed me that the backups will no longer be available for the old iMac. That's fine. After everything was set-up on the new one (15" Mac Book pro retina) I wanted to make sure that the backup process for this one was ready to go and as it was done in the past. I have selected the Time Capsule (it's a 500GB that is backing two computers) and as such there is limited space available on it but that's ok since the process is creating space when needed by deleting old backups from 2011 which I don't need any more keeping 1 year history being ok.
The problem I am now facing is that it seems Time Machine consider that the back-up of the New Mac book pro as a new volume - i.e. on top of the one used to set-up the new Mac book (the old iMAc!) and the one for the other computer. Time machine seems to be looking to open a third volume and obviuosly doesn't have the space to perform the back-up.
How can I sort this? Ideally for me after I have restored the data from the old iMac to the Mac Book pro I would like to keep updating the back-ups (originally from the old iMac) with the changes that happened on the Mac Book pro.
I hope I am clear and looking for some tips on that.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Best
    Pierre

You can't do that. This is because the backups are tied to the network adapter's MAC address of the computer you are backing up with. You could "fake" the MAC address but this would make it impossible for you to use the iMac on a network (as it's MAC address would already be being used). Your only option is to delete the old iMac's backups or buy a new TC (best option if you want to keep the backups).
