How to restore database if customer has no good backups?

Customer lost database recently and no good backups. Is there a possible way to restore and recover database in this scenario?

If you have some full database exports, you can reimport it.
If you have an old full backup and all archived redo logs from this full backup, it's possible to restore everything.
Otherwise, I really don't know. But you should give us more info:
do you have partial backup ? which files do you have ? which files are missing ?

To add to what SB said, in years past the instructions for re-creating the control file manually were contained in the DBA Administration manual. It used to be and may still be common to be taking and saving a "backup control file to trace" for this purpose.
If you lost only the primary copy of the control file and it is an OS file then while the database is shutdown you can copy the secondary over the primary and then use if to start the database. If the control file is stored in ASM then there should be a way to perform the copy via ASM.
If you use rman for backups then a copy of the control file should be part of the backup process and you can retrieve it from the backup set then perform recovery using the backup control file though I do note the OP said something to the effect no backup exists. Still, I have knows of instances where the DBA did not realize that the backup set contained the control file and the spfile so I think this is worth mentioning just in case.

One time discount - how to find out if customer has aleady been given discount before?

Client has requirement - they give first-time customers a certain discount, occasionally they give old customers the same discount (they want to be able to decide during the sales order entry). They will enter manually with no condition records.
They could use HA00 header discount type.. but how can they know whether that customer has received the same discount before? Is there a standard sales report that can be run based on header conditions type? We don't have time for custom development and would like find a standard solution.
Is there a standard report based on order reason? Perhaps they can enter order reason for orders that have that one-time customer and can quickly run that report.

Hi,
first of all you must have all the archivelogs since you want to recover your table from the previous backups.
anyways if you want to recover your table then you need to perform incomplete recovery to the point where you loss the table for that you need to restore and recover your database.you likely to loose all the transcation which occurs to the point where you you loose your table.

How to find if a PO has a goods receipt

Dear Gurus,
I am a developer with limited knowledge of the Fucntional MM module. I am working on MM purchasing.
Now when you do a max (ebeln) on EKPO it gives the latest purchase order.
Is there some means by which I can find out if a purchase order has a goods receipt associated with it.
Now every time a purchase order is created the field 'wepos' is automatically set to 'X'.
So, i dont think 'wepos' is the best way to find if the PO has a receipt.
Now the lady I am working with has said that If you chose the PO in 'ME23N" the PO that has a receipt will have a 'purchase order history' tab. The one that has no goods receipt will have no "purchase order history".
Again, I have limited functional knowledge. If anybody could help me understand what fields / tables are involved in identifying the PO's; I could use that information in writing code.

I see that PO - *******147 has an entry in table EKBE, and BEWTP is 'E'
for PO *******157 - there is no entry in table EKBE
PO - *******147 has a goods receipt
PO - *******157 has no goods receipt
Should *******157 have an entry in EKBE and should the value of BEWTP (not equal) 'E' for this PO.
I will be confirming this with the business before I make any changes; any other suggestions are welcomed and appreciated.

My first instinct is to agree with what other have posted ... you are toast.
But then I realized that you posted wholly insufficient information from which to actually respond. Missing are:
1. Database version
2. Stand-alone or RAC?
3. Is there a standby database associated with the system?
4. Is there any form of replication associated with the system?
5. ASM or File System
6. Operating system
7. What are you trying to recover ... be very specific
8. Why are you trying to recover it ... again be very specific and include the appropriate part of the alert log
9. How did the data that was in the database get there ... again be very specific
10. List everything you have done to the database in an attempt to address the issue up to this moment.
And please please please push yourself away from the keyboard until you get a response. There may be nothing you can do ... but you could quite possibly make things worse.
Note to SB and $phinx19 ... think about it ... this is a forum with people from many countries, many different levels of experience, and often words are used incorrectly. This may not be what we assumed it to be. I've seen people try to recover a database when all they did was delete rows from a table. Let's get all the facts before we start smearing butter on it.

I have question, which is dancing on top of my head about the Restore in Oracle10g, Windows server/XP?
I have backup of Oracle 10g DB (BACKUPSET), I want to restore that backup to my local machine on windows xp. The backup I copied from PROD to DEV/XP machine to perform restore. IN PROD we have configured RMAN and obviously it is having 4 OS Drives; 2 of them configured for DATAPUMP and BACKUPSET.
I want to Restore the exisiting backup from the PROD to Dev/XP (my local machine) which is having only one drive that is c:\oradata\
RMAN is also configured on Dev/XP machine. So please give me step by step process to do the successful restore on Dev/XP machine.
I know, I can do the Datapump (export from PROD and import to XP), but I want to do only restore process.
Any help greatly appreciated.

First of all, you need to make sure that your production and test system are running the same OS (that is: your production db needs to run on WinXp as well), or, at the very least, they need to have the same endianness

iTunes is pretty unforgiving about deleting playlists. There no "undelete". You can revert to using an earlier version of your iTunes library file from a backup.
It doesn't make a difference in this case but you did post in the iTunes for Mac forum and your computer information says you are running Windows.

After having my WD 750GB HD crash, I decided that I would opt for a smaller (256GB) SSD drive and just put Mavericks and my apps on the new drive and keep my user files on an external drive. I've installed and formatted the new drive but I can't figure out how to install just OSX from Time Machine since the entire backup is too big for my new drive. Before the drive failed, I had installed the latest update for Mavericks (10.9.3?) Thoughts?

I think you should do the following:
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

I backed up the old iPad on iTunes, and when I plug in the new iPad air, it prompted that I must first update the software in order to back it up. my exisitng iMac have a defective hard drive that i need to be replace. how do i restore the OS and data to the new hard disk? i have Time Machine backup from the previous hard disk. (note: the OS is 10.6, and i do not have the install disk)

You may need that, depending on what version of OSX you're running, to restore the backups or start fresh.
You really should have a copy of the original disc, as there's an Apple Hardware Test on it, tailored to the hardware on that Mac. You'll need it it there's ever a problem. If your daughter can't send it, call AppleCare (800-275-2273),and give them your serial number -- they can send you a replacement for a nominal fee.

How to restore, associate, ??? Time Machine backups prior to HD going bad?

Greetings. I hope someone can help me. Soon. Real soon!
So on our office iMac we have an external HD for time machine.
Last week the HD inside the iMac failed. I guess it was one that had been identified by Apple as in a bad crop..... so Apple kindly replaced the failed drive.
But here is my problem: We were previously running on Mountain Lion. One of the major apps we use is a Windows app that runs under Parallels.
When the HD was replaced, the Tech who did the work I guess did not realize we have a Time Machine. So he put in the new disk and installed Mavericks on it. He said he recovered as much off the failed disk as possible, but we see nothing from before.
Anyway, so now the computer's name is different. The OS is different. Only the HD has the same name: Macintosh HD and of course, all the hardware is what we had previously, except the HD.
So when the computer was put back into service, Time Machine was turned on. :-(
We had a bear of a time reinstalling Parallels and a newer version of Windows than what we had before.
We can access the data that was on the old Time Machine backups via the Finder, except the critical information we need from the backups resides in on the virtual C: drive that mounts when that Parallels app [used to] runs.
If I try to recover or Migrate from the Time Machine drive, the only backup files that are available to me are those that have been made since the HD replacement.
Is the ANY WAY to turn back the clock to restore from the OLD TM backups?
I tried using the tmutil associatedisk command in Terminal, but that seems to have not done anything for me either.
Any assistance or advice would REALLY REALLY be greatly appreciated!
