How to restore demo database

Hi all,
I've a demo database (OEC Computers) 2007 B compatible.  Can anyone please guide me how to restore the database.  Since I don't have knowledge regarding SQL Server, I'm not able to restore the demo database.  Please guide me to restore the demo database.
Thanks,
Balaji

Hi Balaji,
Please open the SQL Server Enterprise Manager -> Expand the servers,
1. rightclick Database ->New Database
2. input information under General/Data Files, then OK
3. right click the new db just created-> All task ->restore
4. select 'From device' and then select device -> Add ->import the db ->OK
Hope above could solve your problem.
Regards,
Eric

  • How to restore sql database in Private Azure Cloud subscription?

    I want to restore my database bacpac file
    into Private
    cloud Azure Subscription but I do not get any option in Azure portal :(
    Is there any way to do this?
    questions I asked here at stackoverflow
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/28847844/how-to-restore-sql-database-in-private-azure-cloud-subscription

    Hi itsashuthinks,
    Currently for private cloud Azure there is no Import/Export Service to import your BACPAC file into SQL Database.
    Because of this you will need to use client tools.
    The process to do this is the following.
    Open SSMS and connect to your cloud server.
    Right click on "Databases" under your server in object explorer and select import data-tier application.
    Follow the import wizard instructions to start the import.
    Learn more about Data-tier applications and migrations here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee210546.aspx
    Hope this helps!

    me any errors though either.  I tried restoring through TSQL command but only got a database restore terminating abnormally error with no other details.  How can I restore this database to SQL 2014?

  • How to restore Ipod database without iTunes?

    Hi,
    My iPod mini is visible to any aplication except iTunes. I have tried all it sugested on the manuals to fix it and nothing worked.
    Others applications like RealPlayer and Anapod can see that the iPod is connect but can´t show its content. RealPlayer says that the database file doesn´t exist or is corrupted.
    The only way I can see my files is accessing the iPod-Control directory using windows.
    If I disconect it from the Pc I can´t see the musics that are on it.
    I have made a copy of the songs that were on it and now I want to know how to restore it without use iTunes, because nothing makes iTunes see it.
    Is there any update link that still work on apple website, so I don´t need to use iTunes?

    I formated my iPod using windows

  • How to restore R11 database..? Please guide in details.

    Dear Friends,
    I had install Windows NT 4.0 as domain controller and installed oracle R11 and configured. It was working fine. After some time I had UPGRADE my Operating system WINNT 4.0 to WINDOWS Server 2000. Server was properly upgraded with any trouble, after up gradation Oracle application still working.
    Good!.
    Now I bought a new P4 hardware for Oracle server. The problem is how I restore Database from old machine (that contain records) to new machine. Because it is Oracle R11 that support Oracle 8 and R11 does not install/support on windows server 2000.
    I don’t have Backup of database but I have all database files etc. can this would be help full??
    I also have control file and parameter file of original…db
    My Plan:-
    1.     Install Windows NT 4.0
    2.     Install Oracle R11 (Vision)

    Hi,
    Maybe just swap the harddisk to the new machine?
    Alternatively, I'd try installing R11 under Win2000 ... as under the covers Windows server 2000 is Windows NT right?

  • How to restore system databases?

    If SQL server system databases crash, what will happen?
    If sql server system databases crash, how to fix the issue? Any difference to fix for master, msdb,model temp and distribute?
    Thanks

    There would be various situation after "crash".
    If Master database has corruption after unexpected failure then SQL Service won't start. Only option would have is to rebuild system databases and follow the article given by others to restore system databases.
    If SQL Service is able to start and reports corruption in model database then there are two ways to fix it.
    Get MDF and LDF file of model from other SQL Instance which has EXACTLY same build and replace the files.
    If you have important data in model database, then you would need to restore. Follow the links given by other
    TempDB database is not eligible for backup and restore.
    MSDB database can be restored if SQL is running.
    Distribution database can be restored when SQL is running. Provided no one accessing it.

  • How to restore a database from host A to host B by using RMAN

    Hi there
    I wanted to restore 1 database from machine A to machine B with the differente files systemes. I did these steps below, but I have a problem when I restore the controlfile from machine A to machine B.
    1-copy the controlfile from machine A to machine B by using OS utility.
    2-startup nomount the database on machine B.
    3-connect target and catalog RMAN.
    4-I have to restore the controlfile from last full backup of the machine A to machine B (see the procedure RMAN).
    I have the error messages like:

    Hi there
    I'm also trying to restore a full RMAN backup to our DR site using Netbackup as MML
    My scenario is:
    We have one tape library at our PROD data center and another one at our DR site both using Netbackup as Storage manager

    I tried to import the tapes using bpimport from Netbackup which has been successful up to now

  • Urgent: How to restore a database to another machine without backup files

    I am a beginner with Oracle and need to solve a tough problem.
    I have all the files of a database on a hard disk without previously backed up. I don't have the old machine right now, I only have the hard disk from the old machine, and the new machine. There is an Oracle 9i database on the harddisk, and we need make the database work.
    I've already installed the Oracle 9i on the computer(Win XP), put the files to the right folder, modified the listener.ora and tnsnames.ora, then I added the database from:
    OEM -> Navigator -> Add database to tree -> Add selected databases from your local tnsnames.ora file ...
    When I tried to connect to the database, I got the error:
    ORA-12500: TNS: listener failed to start a dedicated server process.
    The setting in my tnsnames.ora and listener.ora are all correct. tnsping <tnsname> is OK. Besides, the default database installed by the ORACLE software works fine.
    Both the old machine and the new machine are Window XP. Both the old database and the new database are ORACLE 9i.
    Any idea on how to mannually make it work? Thank you inadvance!
    Lihua

    Lihua,
    Since you didn't create the DB with DBCA, you will need to manually create a SID.
    From a command window type
    ORADIM -NEW -SID mydb
    Replace mydb with the DBNAME specified in your init.ora and listener.ora files.
    This will create and start the service. The service should now be available as a windows service in the computer management area...
    From a COMMAND window type
    set oracle_sid=mydb
    sqlplus /nolog
    connect / as sysdba
    startup
    If you have all the files in the correct location the DB should start. You should then be able to connect with the database manager. Good Luck.

  • How to restore a database from backup taken in standby database

    Its our  environment standard to run backup in standby database.
    Now we have to perform refresh production database to UAT database.
    I have performed normal refresh/duplicate.  Is there any additional procedures need to be followed to perform refresh from standby database backup

    RMAN Restoration to New Server with Different Directory and New Database Name
    In this case, I have an existing production database with RMAN Level 0 backup:

    The backupsets will be restored into a new server with different file structure. The database will also be different. In the new server, I have created a blank database (SID or CUSTOM database with the name DBGRID). This is easier so I won't have to create any directories, user ORADIM or create new PWFile.
    This document assumes that a blank (starter) database has been created in the new server. The RDBMS version is the same as the source database.
    In this example, the source database name is GALAXY and the target database name is DBGRID.
    Let me know if you have any feedback or comments. All I want is to share these steps with you and make it better so we can help other DBA's as well.
    Steps start here
    -->
    ORIGINAL DATABASE: GALAXY
    DUPLICATE DATABASE: DBGRID
    FROM THE SOURCE DATABASE (GALAXY)
    1. Backup the database using RMAN incremental backups.
    2. Check the RMAN logs generated and look for the result of the command:

    3. Since the target server has different structure, it is easier to use a pfile to startup the database rather than restoring the spfile from backup.

    5. Copy all the RMAN backup pieces generated in the source database. Transfer the edited pfile as well. Make sure that all directories presented in the pfile exists in the target server.
    In this example, RMAN backupsets are located at:
    Backupsets:

  • How we restore the database dmp file in Oracle10g express edition

    please provide me answers as soon as possible...my database is fresh and i want to restore the dmp file in my database, that dmp file is exported by oracle 10g database on other machine.

    there is no impdb or expdb command. There is an imp (for import) and exp (for export).
    I assume you want to replace the existing database with the one on your laptop.
    A much better and more efficient way to do this would be to backup the database on your home machine and then restore it to your office database.
    but before you do anything, backup the database you are copying/importing to (backup option is available on the windows menu or its a batch or shell script in the appropriate directory)

  • HOW TO RESTORE A .BAK SQL BACKUP IN VSUAL STUDIO 2010

    Respected sir,
             i have microsoft visual studio 2010.i have a websit in ASP.NET with sql server database.
    i have my database as .bak files.i cant restore it.
             please help me urgent, how to restore the database.
             thanks in advance.
             please help me
                                  with regards,
                                              jamsheedh cv

    Hi jamsheedh,
    In addition, if you want to restore .bak file, you can also run the restore command in the Visual Studio 2010 Command Prompt. Note that right click the run as administrator. The restore statement:
    Restore database <databasename>
    From disk=’path\.bak’
    With move ‘<data>’ to ‘new path\.mdf’,
    move ‘<log>’ to ‘new path\.ldf’,
    replace
    There is an example about restoring database in VS 2008 command prompt, you can review the following article.

  • RESTORING THE DATABASE AFTER BEING EDITED OR DELETED

    How to restore the database after being edited? I m using sql server 2008 R2, I've done backup with some foolish knowledge and many tables have disappeared from the database. I want to get them back. Please help me.

    Do you have backup which includes data which has been edited/removed by you .If so below query might help.
    use master
    go
    alter database db_name set single_user with rollback immediate
    go
    restore database db_name from disk='locaion of backup'
    with replace,recovery
    If you have transaction lgo backups as well please dont use above method.In such case you will need to  first restore full backup with no recovery like below and then apply all transaction logs with no recovery
    but the last transaction log with recovery( last trn log just before you edited)
    use master
    go
    alter database db_name set single_user with rollback immediate
    go
    restore database db_name from disk='locaion of backup'
    with replace,norecovery
    Hope this helps

  • Restoring master database from management studio

    How to restore master database from SSMS? is it possible? if yes, what is the procedure.
    I knew that how to restore from sqlcmd.
    1.Start the server with the -m startup parameter
    2.Turn off Sql Agent Service, login to SSMS, first disconnect object explorer.
    3.Restore your master backup
    4.The server shuts down automatically when the restore ends
    5.Remove the -m startup parameter and then restart the server
    6.If any databases were created after the master backup, reattach them
    7.If any server-scoped objects were created after the master backup, recreate them

  • AUto-renaming mdf & ldf filenames when restoring a database with SQL Management Studio

    Hi!
    I am using SQL Management Studio 2014 and I am experiencing some problems when restoring a database backup.
    I have a SQL Server 2008R2 & SQL Server 2012 instances.
    On the 2012 instance, when I restore a database and rename it into a new name, the mdf and ldf files get automatically renamed into the new database name : Great, this is the behavior that I expect.
    On the 2008R2 instance, the mdf and ldf files don't automatically get renamed to match the new database name and I have to perform the renaming manually - pretty annoying.
    Has anybody experienced this problem ? If yes, do you know of a fix ?
    Thank you
    Frederic

    Hi,
    You are using an external tool (SSMS GUI interface) which give you some behaviors like default names. this is very simple, just use a simple query to restore the database and dont use the GUI if you dont like its behavior
    (this behavior might change from time to time). You can use the profiler to make sure what is
    the real query that the SSMS sent to the server.

  • Backup/Restore for my demo database

    Howdy all. I am running Oracle 10g Standard Edition on Windows 2K Server. I have the following situation ...
    I would like to make a standard demo database for my company. This database would be put on several machines and used by sales people to demo our software to possible customers. I need to be able to restore this database on a machine with Oracle 10g installed and then run our software on it.
    I can make the database and run our software on it just fine on my machine. I am, however running into problems when trying to learn how Oracle and RMAN work with backups and restoring those backups. I am coming from the MSSQL2K environment where backup/restore is fairly simple and straightforward.
    Will somebody please give me a basic idea of what I need to do in order to take the database on my machine and back it up and then restore it on another machine. I don't want to have the restore depend on a given file/directory structure. Our software depends on two tablespaces in the Oracle database. So, if it is easier to somehow backup the two tablespaces and restore them than it is to backup the entire database and restore it - then that is great. I will do it that way.
    I am basically looking for the simplest approach for restoring this demo database wherever I want to quickly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    wally

    Jeffrey, here's what I use to do this, I have a production database that on occassion I need to make a copy of to perform some testing on, so I just use this to create an "auxiliary" database using the RMAN backups from the production database. I thought in 10g there was a database clone function, I'll have to look that up and get back to you, anyway, here's the instructions I use.
    Target Database = RMAN Target (Source database to be copied.)
    Auxiliary Database = RMAN Auxiliary (Duplicated database end result)
    1. Copy the target database’s init.ora file to the auxiliary database’s location.
    2. Modify disk locations for control files, archive logs and dump dests in init.ora if required
    3. Create locations for data files, dump dests, control files and log files
    4. Copy RMAN backup files and archive logs to same location on auxiliary DB server as they are on target DB server
    5. Create Oracle Service using ORADIM utility
    6. Start instance in nomount
    7. Create listener.ora entry on auxiliary server
    8. Create tnsnames.ora entry on target server
    9. Connect to rman catalog, target and auxiliary from the target server:
         RMAN> connect catalog rman/<password>@<catalog db>
         RMAN> connect target sys/<password>@<target db>
         RMAN> connect auxiliary sys/<password>@<auxiliary db>
    10. Run the following (modify the sequence count and datafile renames as required.)
    run{
    allocate auxiliary channel d1 type disk;
    set newname for datafile 1 to 'e:\ORACLE\ORADATA\MTSD\SYSTEM01.DBF';
    set newname for datafile 2 to 'e:\ORACLE\ORADATA\MTSD\RBS01.DBF';
    set newname for datafile 3 to 'e:\ORACLE\ORADATA\MTSD\USERS01.DBF';
    set newname for datafile 4 to 'e:\ORACLE\ORADATA\MTSD\TEMP01.DBF';
    set newname for datafile 5 to 'e:\ORACLE\ORADATA\MTSD\TOOLS01.DBF';
    set newname for datafile 6 to 'e:\ORACLE\ORADATA\MTSD\INDX01.DBF';
    set newname for datafile 7 to 'e:\ORACLE\ORADATA\MTSD\SMDBDATA.DBF';
    set newname for datafile 8 to 'e:\ORACLE\ORADATA\MTSD\SMDBIDX.DBF';
    set newname for datafile 9 to 'e:\ORACLE\ORADATA\MTSD\SMDBTEMP.DBF';
    set newname for datafile 10 to 'e:\ORACLE\ORADATA\MTSD\AUDITDATA.ORA';
    set newname for datafile 11 to 'e:\ORACLE\ORADATA\MTSD\AUDITAR.ORA';
    duplicate target database to mtsd
    logfile
    'e:\oracle\oradata\mtsd\redo01.log' size 10M,
    'e:\oracle\oradata\mtsd\redo02.log' size 10M,
    'e:\oracle\oradata\mtsd\redo03.log' size 10M,
    'e:\oracle\oradata\mtsd\redo04.log' size 10M;}
