How to restore events to my iPhone calendar?

An employee at the Apple store updated my iPhone 5 and now I have no events in my calendar. I tried going to Settings, Calendar and selecting "all" under sync but this did nothing to retrieve my events. I also can not put any new events in to my calendar nor can I use Reminders.

To sync with iPhone's calendar (also called iCalendar) you need to use a cloud-based calendar. If you already have lightning, install the Google Provider addon and setup Google Calendar. If you have already done that, go to settings on your iPhone. In the Mail, Contacts, and Calendars area, add your Google account, and turn on Calendar. This will sync your Google Calendar with the iPhone.

Deselect the box next to Calendars then reselect then restart the iMac.
On the iPad, tap Settings > iCloud
Switch Calendars off then back on then reset the iPad.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Hopefully the event synced over all the devices.

If you want to invite someone, open the event, tap Edit, then add their contact to Invitees.

- iPhone IOS 7.0.4,
- MS Exchange 2008 (using ActiveSync to see outlook mail by iPhone).
[Problem]
Creating new event on Outlook, the event is reflected iPhone calendar correctly.
Creating new event on iPhone calendar, the event is reflected to Outlook, but the event disappear on iPhone calendar.
In the case of 1, it is correct action.
But in the case of 2, it is very strange action.
Does someone experience similar problem?
If you have any solution of this, please let me know.

Why can't I save a week long event on my iPhone calendar

I tried to save an event that lasts for a week (vacation) on my iPhone calendar. I get an error message: "Cannot Save Event.. That event does not belong to that event store." What does that mean and how do I resolve this so that I can put my week long vacation in my calendar?

Are your contacts stored in an MS Exchange server, in iCloud, or some other source? Setting the Sync to less than All Events should not delete events, but only stop showing them on your device. However, Outlook also has a setting to actually delete events older than a certain date. Have you checked that?
If you log in to iCloud.com (and you are syncing with iCloud) what do you see? Whatever is there is all you can get on the iPhone, unless you can restore from another source.
I also suggest enabling iCloud Backup (settings/icloud - Storage and Backup). This will create a new backup any time your phone is connected to power and WiFi, so you will always have a current backup, painlessly.

When I try to delete events on my iPhone calendar, the event momentarily disappears, but comes back within a second.

I'm having my iphone calendar sync with my google calendar. I had a repeating event that I tried to delete - I tried deleting both just this event, as well as trying to delete all future events, but either way, the event is only temporarily deleted. It disappears for a bit, but reappears almost instantaneously.

To make sure that this is not software related, set it back to factory settings, without using any backup data afterwards. Set up the rest of the personal settings manually and test the camera. If it still does not work, this is a hardware issue and the phone has to be serviced by Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider:

I just discovered this today too. Nothing older than two months was saved or displayed. I searched similar topics here, and tried to do a fix in ITunes, with my phone connected to the computer. When I selected "Sync Calendars" I got a message that I was already saving calendars etc. via ICloud. I then had to go to Settings on the phone, under "Mail, Contacts, Calendars", select "Calendars", then under "Sync", select "All Events." That restored all of my old events. (To see if you've selected ICloud, look under settings.) Hope this works as well for you!

The problem could be events linked from another application like Facebook. In this case tap the "Calendar" icon at the bottom of the screen, then uncheck links from outside calendars. If the event is one you created, tap the edit icon at the top of the screen, then scroll all the way to the bottom and tap the "Delete this event" icon.

I can see events added from my Google calendar, which is nice, but it would be even nicer if I could just whip out my phone at the dentist and add the next date.   Right now I just have to remember to add it from gmail from my computer when I get home.    S000000 frustrating!

Thanks! Gmail was checked, but the phone home was not.    So now I can get it to appear on the phone, though it doesn't seem to sych to computer -- at least not quickly.
But being able to put it on the phone itself solves my immediate problem, and I'll work on the synching issue, which is well-documented elsewhere.
And thanks for being online today -- I was about to throw that phone through the window!
