How to restore finder icons to default?

Somehow I ended up with these weird icons in finder for things like folders as you can see here
They're really annoying and I can't figure out how to revert them back to the default icons.

In Finder "Go" menu, hold the option key and choose Library. Then go to Preferences and trash these files:
com.apple.finder.plist
com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
com.apple.FolderActions.plist
com.apple.FolderActionsSetup.plist
Then, restart.(You will have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.)

    Hi All,
How we can find out the default value of the initilization parameters from oracle database.
    Thanks
    Shiju

    Hi,
you can find currently used parameter values v$parameter and v$parameter2.
if default values is different real values then you can see alert.log.
because in alert.log you will see non default values, rests is default.

  • How to restore utilities icons like notes

how does one restore utilities icons like notes and reminders once they have been deleted from home page?

Stock iOS apps cannot be deleted.
Were they accidentally moved to another page or into a folder?
Do they show when you do a Spotlight search (swip down from the middle of the screen)?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Find the com.apple.dock.plist file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder, drag it to the Desktop, log out/in or restart and let us know what happens.

I need to restore apps icon on my iPad

Since this is a built in app, it is always on the iPad.    But parental controls through restrictions allows it to be hidden to prevent a child from making purchases.
To get the app un hidden:
Go to setting, general, restrictions and turn it off.

  • How to restore/reset downloads to default to open pdf forms in preview instead of adobe?

I downloaded Adobe Reader 11 yesterday in order to view my electronic university transcripts.  In the course of installing, ALL pdf files on my hard-drive were converted to adobe pdf files and will not open with preview.  I don't mind keeping the one document an adobe pdf since it had special security enhancements, and I was unable to view without it, but how do I restore the rest of my pdfs to open with preview?  How do I change the default setting so that new downloaded pdfs will open with preview, NOT adobe?  I do NOT want all of my pdf files to be in adobe format.

I do not understand: PDF files are Adobe PDF files, there are no other PDF files.
Or is it the file association you are worried about?

  • How to restore Launchpad icon to Dock

I removed Launchpad from the Dock by mistake. I want to put it back. 'Help' says things are added to the Dock by dragging. Fine - but where/how can I get Launchpad up so I can drag it to the Dock?

If you removed Launchpad from the Dock and you want to recover it, just open Finder, select Applications in the sidebar, and drag the Launchpad icon to the Dock, so it will appear again in the Dock

  • Q: How to restore Preview as the default PDF viewer in Safari

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro for Mac loaded and it took over the responsibility to display PDF documents in my browser but as much as I like Acrobat, it turns poor little Safari into a tortoise when viewing PDF's. Preview is 100x faster for simple PDF viewing and I'd like to restore that integration. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to get that back in Safari without uninstalling Acrobat? I don't have an issue with files on my hard drive, just Safari.
    Thanks!
    JimN

Thanks guys for the good thread. Excuse me for jumping in here but I am seeing a very similar issue but slightly different and wondering any one can lend a hand. I used to have Acrobat 8.x Professional Trail on my MBP but dropped it in the trash. Now Safari asks me to locate Acrobat each time I click a PDF link online. I cant find it of course, it simply isnt there. I want to go back to defaults.
Full disclosure: I have Acrobat 8.x Reader over in Windohs XP inside Parallels, and the OS might (might, not sure) see that as the app to open these, but of course that doesn't make any sense that it is going to be able to launch that inside the Safari window (dont want that even if it could, which I hope it cant).
    Thanks.

  • How to restore back to factory defaults?

    Hi,
I need to restore the laptop back to factory defaults which is Windows Vista but all I have is the disk that came with the laptop which says product recovery for windows xp.
The system backup is turned off and system restore has not solved the problem.
Can anyone tell me how to get it back to factory defaults with vista?

Can you please tell us which notebook model you have exactly? I presume the Vista recovery image is saved on HDD. Usually it is saved on second partition in HDDRecovery folder.
    Please check this.

I had this issue before with Mountian Lion (10.8) and resotred my Mac to factory settings when did Maveriks (10.9) but still with the same problem. I can be caused by Logic Pro X which I downloaded from the AppStore but I don't know any help would be welcome.

  • How to restore box icons to desktop of ideatab s6000

I accidently deleted the box on the desktop for games. How do I restore it or add a new box that I can add the apps and widgets to? Thanks

If Apple wonders why iTunes users abandon the program and move elsewhere this is a fine example.  Once a strong devotee I no longer feel that way and my next machine won't be a Mac.  Apple could have simply made it a toggle but no ... you do as Apple demands and it is that thinking (our way or the highway) that makes people bristle and walk away.
They are blind if they think they've "improved" iTunes.  Today it is more annoying than anything they have previously offered.  Appreciate the response.

  • How to restore sound card to default on late 2012 mac mini??

I have a late 2012 mac mini with a sound card that is not working right? The issue is the line-in is not working at all, and the microphone is grayed out, like its disabled?? Please Help!!!

The only ways any Mac Mini could have a microphone, since there is none installed:
    1) if you have a display with built-in mic; or
    2) have an external camera, with built-in mic.
An iSight camera, original FW400 model, has a built-in microphone. Some Cinema
or wide displays with their own speakers and extra ports, may have a built-in Mic.
A newer Thunderbolt 27-inch or 27-inch LED Apple, has built-in iSight or facebook
kind of camera and those include a microphone.
So while nobody doubts a microphone would be necessary for a local voice input to
a Mini Mac; there is no reasonable doubt of built-in mics, as no MINI model had any.
With that off the table, the other information already presented is worth revisiting...
    A reset of the SMC/PRAM may help an actual hardware or software (firmware) issue;
but, it cannot reconnect with a non-existent 'built-in' accessory where none is present.
The system profile hardware information in the Mac OS X will show all the components
and their software aspects, as does most published information on the entire Mini line.
If a reset of the System Management Controller, or Parameter Random Access Memory,
fails to change the situation, try both of them again. Carefully & deliberately. And then,
if there is no traction and the peripheral aspects of other accessories which would be
most likely to include built-in audio input are also double-checked for function, you may
choose to inquire of an expert, product specialist, Authorized service provider, etc and
have them perform tests to see if there is some other hardware failure involved.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Can't change Dock Finder Icon

    Hello Everyone!!
I was changing my Dock Finder Icon recently, and I want to restore it and also change other icons. Before I do everything. I did a backup of Dock.app. I replaced the finder.png and [email protected] but when I do 'killall dock' in terminal and also a restart it was still my modified icon. Can anyone tell me how to restore the icon? Thanks!

    All I can suggest is to peruse https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/ man1/xattr.1.html and  http://gotofritz.net/blog/geekery/os-http://gotofritz.net/blog/geekery/os-x-exte nded-attibutes/

  • Extra Finder icon in Dock

This seems odd...I now have an extra Finder icon in my dock. It's white and appears to have a mini applications folder logo at the bottom of the icon. When I hover the mouse over it, though, it shows up as Finder, and I see the original Finder icon, on the left side of my dock, is now inactive. Any idea how the new Finder icon, which is active, got there? Is there a way to get rid of it? Thanks! -Ken
