How to restore ical events

i ve deleted caches and all my events gone.how can i get them back to ical?

I'm having the same problem with any program. Time Machine simply defaults, every time, to the Desktop Folder. This is fine, but only really useful for individual files and/or folders. Where's the integrated Restore for Apple programs?

  • How to forward iCal events

Does anyone know how to forward iCal events to new attendees?

    Hi jwinter0425,
Here's how you mail an existing event:
    1. Right-click on the event in iCal
    2. Click "Mail Event"
If you're sending this to an Microsoft Outlook/Exchange user, they won't be able to open it. I've developed an iCal plug-in that resolves iCal-to-Outlook compatibility issues. It's worth checking it out. http://www.zamain.com.

  • Restoring iCal Events from Time Machine

    Hi
I read a few threads that were related to my question, but it was more from moving over files from different versions of the operating software. Here is my dilemma:
Somehow I erased all my iCal events. They were syncing with Entourage. I went into iCal because I had some duplicates and deleted event duplicates, when I did that I somehow deleted all my events. I do have time machine and have a back up of iCal. I restored the program from Time Machine, but the events are not back. I suspect that I need to restore the actual files that must be kept in a database somewhere?
Will someone please tell me how to restore the actual events and where exactly I can find the iCal events data. My plan is that once I restore iCal I will export and import into Entourage.
I really do not want to lose all my events. Thank you in advance for your help!
    Brandon

    HELP! Please.
I am a new iMac user. For weeks, the system ran perfect. This morning, I tried to synch my iCal with Google Calendar to let others have access to my events. Somehow, after the sync, all events at my iCal suddenly disappeared. Not just that, the list of calendars (private, business, etc.) was gone too. I then tried to synch iCal with all the events stored in my iPhone, but that only lead to my iPhone calendar being completely deleted too. I am totally desparate now. What happened? I then tried to use Time Machine to restore. But in earlier time machine dates, there was no calendar folder which I could use to replace mine. But I could not find a calendar folder there. Thank you for helping. Kind regards from Munich, Germany.

  • How to restore trashed events

I trashed some events in FCPX 10.1.1 According to the manual I should be able to restore these but I cannot work out how to do this.
The events did not go into the finder trash, so I presume there is a trash withing the FCPX library, but I cannot find how to acess this in order to restore the events.
    Can anyone help please?

I tried trashing a little test event. In FCP X, I control-clicked on the library where that event resided, and chose "Reveal in Finder"; then in the Finder, control-clicked to "Show Package Contents". Sure enough, there was a folder called __Trash, containing my deleted event. Then I quit FCP X and the __Trash folder vanished.
So if you want to recover a deleted event, you will probably need to do it before you quit FCP X.
Now as to actually recovering it, it seems not to be completely straightforward (unless you can undo back to the point where you deleted it, but then you might call it straightbackward... couldn't resist :-)).
Here is a way that may work (no guarantees, of course).
    0) Make a duplicate of your library, just in case the following goes wrong somehow.
    1) make a copy of the event from the __Trash folder and store it elsewhere.
    2) quit FCP X
    3) In the Finder, control-click to "Show Package Contents" and place the event folder you copied in step 1 in the appropriate location within the library
    4) move the .flexolibrary outside the library package (if all goes well, you may delete this file later)
    5) start FCP X again. Hopefully, everything will be restored.
A little explanation regarding step 4: the .flexolibrary contains the database that tells FCP X what is in the library. Just moving the event folder back will not update the database; that is why if you omit this step you won't see the event, even though it is there. If this file is not present, FCP X will reconstruct it from the package contents.

  • Osx 10.8 How to restore ical data

Mac Pro, 10.8. Something I did in Bento wiped all my ical entries. The drive is backed up but where would I find the data to replace it?

Thanks for your response. I'd read about that approach (a PDF on MacRumours descibing the process), but I'm wondering if I'll be re-introducing older Lion and Snow Leopard elements like folder locations and such if I do it this way.
Will ML migrate it to the standard location and treat it as though this data had been generated within ML all along?
Also, I should add, I'm doing this install because I pooched my Lion Server and had to restore from a Time Machine backup. Now everything is messed up and unreliable. Turns out Time Machine doesn't back up iCal events for users! So this is why I'm trying to do this as clean as possible.

  • How to restore ical in os x 10.75

I somehow deleted a calendar from iCal and all the ical events are gone. I clicked the wrong button When they went 'bye 'bye from my MacBookPro they also disappeared from iCloud. I cannot restore them from Time Machine (thank you very much Apple ) or from Carbon Copy Cloner Back Up (Apple again???). Is there a way to get them back. I know the data is still somewhere in the bowels of my computer!

  • How to List iCal Events

Is there a way to view a list of all events in iCal? I can list events on my iPhone 4S using IOS6, but don't know how to do this on my iMac running Lion. Thank you. Bob.

After a few days of aggravation, the issue mysteriously resolved itself. Gremlins?

  • How to Restore iCal from Time Machine

Dont now why all my events for next month and future are erase. I want to recover the last time machine back up but dont now how. Can some one bring me the step by step indications?

I'm restoring my partially missing calendar entries from a general Time Machine backup, following FerdII's steps. Just to be helpful, I'll answer the questions about the gear icon and the home folder.
The "Actions" menu (with a Gear icon) appears in any Finder window when you choose Show Toolbar from the View menu. You need to set the Finder window to Show Toolbar before you enter the Time Machine to locate and restore your calendar files -- that will allow you to get at the Actions menu when you're in Time Machine.
@Helicopterdcr -- the Home folder is where the files associated with your User identity are located. In a Finder window, with Show Toolbar set, you'll see your Home folder in the left navigation bar -- it appears under Places and has a house icon. The path to the Calendar folder starts at your Home folder.

  • How to restore iCal using Time Machine with Lion OS

Just got off the phone with Apple Support.  With Lion, your User/Library/Calendar file is now hidden.  Here is how to find it in order to restore data to your iCal.
    Close iCal
    Open FINDER
Use “GO” button located across top
Hit and hold the OPTION key on your keyboard
You’ll see LIBRARY appear in the list  (this is a hidden file you cannot see otherwise)
    Select LIBRARY
    Select CALENDAR
(you can see all the .calendar files under this item)
    Open/Enter TIME MACHINE
Go to day/time you want to restore back to
Highlight the CALENDAR file (which can now be seen by virtue of your efforts above)
    Select RESTORE from Time Machine
Open iCal to view the updated data.

    Hello,
I've got a dumb question - I've tried this a number of times.  You have given the clearest directions that I've read so far.  However, after trying a number of different dates, it still will not populate.  Most of my calendar entries were done with an iPhone, then synced via iCloud to laptop.  Would that prevent them from being synced to the Time Machine?  I'm at a loss (in more ways than one).
Either way, thanks for the help.

  • Restore ical events WITHOUT time machine

So I just got my new iphone and was trying to link it to icloud, the problem is that my macbook air is not linked to icloud. So when I tried to setup icloud on my macbook, it erased all my calender events on my macbook.
I don't have time machine. Is there anyway to get those calender events back?

  • How to restore ical with time machine

I have (some how) lost all of my appointments in my "Work Calendar" within iCal except for one entry (which is strangs).
I have been trying to restore from Time Machine, but, the user interface for iCal through Time Machine is "not easy" to figure out or to use.
I am unable to open the iCal folder as I can do with other ones to restore the data.
How can I do this - I have never been able to do this restore in iCal & Contacts.
Please can any one help me?

Another factor that may be relevant is that I seen iCal appear and disappear from the MobileMe list of things to synch.  It's out of view 99% of the time.
If you are talking about something you see in System Preferences>MobileMe then it's not relevant - iCal does not in fact sync, it reads the calendars directly from the server (though there is by default a cached local copy) and as I said the settings in that prefs pane are nothing to do with iCal any more.
iCal is controlled in System Preferences>Mail, Contacts& Calendars and you should check that your MobileMe login details are correctly entered there - please see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4758
As to the process I detailed, in the first set of numbered instructions, please make sure that when you have exported your MobileMe calendars you import them back into a calendar listed under 'On My Mac' - these cannot be deleted by MobileMe and from your description it sounds as if you may not have done this. Given your problems, I would suggest choosing new name sfor the calendars, at least temporarily.
Then when you reconnect to the internet it should not be possible for MobileMe to delete the calendars and you can proceed with the next steps.

  • How to read iCal events from SQLite Cache file?

I need to figure out how to read event entries in the Cache file stored in /Library/Calenders/ as my actual events have been corrupted due to a file system problem. The example below shows the information I have for each entry, where the event in the entry was Bon Jovi Concert, however I am confused how I can read the date and time of the event, information I believe is stored as 218215639,219613081,219524400,219540600. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    INSERT INTO "ZCALENDARITEM" VALUES(0,NULL,0,NULL,0,5,NULL,6,4039,NULL,0,0,0,0,0,0,2,23,0,0,0,0,6,0,21821563 9,219613081,219524400,219540600,NULL,NULL,NULL,NULL,NULL,'local_AFB8D342-2DAE-4F A1-A9A6-3FA9B28B5C7C','Bon Jovi Concert',NULL,NULL,NULL,'Europe/London',NULL,'0E17BBB6-0E76-4024-8DD7-60E43D38D 35B');

OK, here we go ... I hope. I have tried it on my iCal, with about 2000 entries, and it worked. I cannot guarantee that it will work for you.
Make a new text file from sql as before, but using this modified command to get additional data for each event:
sqlite3 Desktop/Hope 'select ZSTARTDATE, ZCALENDARITEM.ZTITLE, ZENDDATE, ZNODE.ZTITLE, ZISALLDAY, ZRECURRENCERULE, ZISDETACHED from ZCALENDARITEM inner join ZNODE on ZCALENDARITEM.ZCALENDAR = ZNODE.Z_PK where ZSTARTDATE not null' >hope.txt
I suggest you make a new user account, then copy the text file hope.txt and the script to the Public/Drop Box folder for that account. Log on to the new account and copy the two files from the drop box to the Desktop. Start iCal and make new calendars to match those in your ordinary account. Double click the script to open it in Script Editor and CHANGE THE DATE RANGE in the "set ThePeriod" line. Stand well back and click the run button. Every 50 records processed it will pop up a progress box, which will pop down again after a second. Go for lunch.
When it is finished see if things look OK in iCal. If they do export each of the calendars, copy them to the drop box of your normal account and return to your normal account to import them.
If there is an error make a note of the error message and line number, find that line in the text file, and post it here with a couple of lines either side.
Note that for recurring items iCal normally only makes a single event, the first occurrence, then uses a recurrence rule to calculate if the event should be displayed in the current window. If there are any recurring events in the period you have selected where the first occurrence is before the period they will not be recreated. Where however you have changed a single occurrence of a recurring event iCal makes a new, detached, event. Any of these in the period will be detected. If their original event was also in the period they will now appear in the iCal display as duplicates. For easy spotting of these, I have prefixed "XX-" to the title of any detached events.

  • How to reduce iCal event time span?

How do I set default time span of an event to 1 hour in iCal?  I'm using Version 5.0.2 (1571) and the current default is set to something like 6 or 8 hours and it's driving me nuts! A related aggravation is that an event can unintentionally end up spanning 2 days! It used to work just fine in previous versions -- why did they "fix" this and how do I make the current version be truly useful like the old version?

    Hi,
I guess you are adding events in Month view. From iCal's help file about entering events in Month view.
Add a new event in Month view by double-clicking within the day you want the event to appear. Enter a name and time duration for the event in the event’s title field, and then press Return.
iCal moves the event to the correct time and sets it to the correct duration. For example, you can double-click within a day in Month view, enter “Movie 7-9pm,” and then press Return.
If you don’t enter a time duration, iCal sets the event’s duration to 1 hour.
If you don’t enter any time information, iCal makes the event an all-day event.
Add a start time in the event title to make a timed 1 hour event. The time part of the title is stripped out.
    Best wishes

  • How to restore Ical?

My wife somehow deleted all of her To-Do items in ICal.
Luckily, I had made an entire backup of my whole harddrive using SuperDuper two days ago.
My question is - how do I restore that copy of Ical?
    Thanks in advance

  • Can't restore iCal events

I backed up to .Mac three days ago. When I booted up today, all my events were missing. I had 4 calendars. Backup shows that I backed up 68 K three days ago, but when I restore, nothing comes back, even though the backup window claims the restore is successful. Also my download window opens up with my .Mac member name and a piece of paper and says "preparing to download", but just sits there.

I found them on the hard drive in the Documents folder where Backup 2 had put them.
