I just bought an iphone 5c yesterday and I accidentally restored the phone to a previous backup (from my old iphone) when I was trying to sync my music from itunes. How do I retrieve my info from before I did this? Any help is greatly appreciated

They don't exist. Backups are incremental; that is, a new backup is created by just saving changes from the previous backup. If you have an iCloud backup it saves the 3 most recent. But on your computer it saves only the most recent and the most recent of the previous iOS version.
For the future, if you have a Mac, you can force a new backup by going to iTunes Preferences, Devices tab. Right click on a back and choose "Archive" from the floating menu. The next backup will be from scratch. You can also restore a previous backup from Time Machine.
You can sort of do this with Windows if you regularly back up your user data.

According to Apple support, you cannot remove the phone on the device list under "find my iphone" until you turn it off and it goes offline. (It also says the device will go back on "find my iphone" when it goes online again, which seems to mean you can successfully remove it, but as soon as you turn it back on it will be back on the list, and thus you will not be able to restore it.) It's a bit of a conundrum. In my case I couldn't for some reason turn off my phone with the home/sleep buttons - nothing happens, the phone stays on. While on a chat with Apple support, they got my iphone offline (I was able to turn it off by pressing the sleep button and swiping where the red "turn off iphone" arrow would have appeared) and removed it from "find my phone", but when I reconnected to itunes it turned on and reappeared in the "find my phone" list. Luckily, the screen suddenly appeared (it had done this several times yesterday, just briefly), so I was able to turn off "find my device" from the phone. I was then able to restore. Unfortunately, this does not answer the question of how to remove the device from "find my iphone" and keep it off while connecting with itunes to restore (unless you have my good fortune of having the screen suddently reappear). Apple support seemed puzzled that it had reappeared on the device list under "find my iphone". Time will tell whether the restoration fixes the blank screen issue.

The best way to achieve this is to connect your phone to iTunes on your computer using a USB cable. Then choose the restore option from the iTunes application and upon restart choose to restore from your eye cloud backup.

Foremost, I would strong strongly recommend that you don't connect your iPhone to iTunes again to Sync it. Doing that might risk over-writing the data present in the backup and you might loose stuff.
This is what you can do now:-
Get a backup recovery software to extract data out of your iphone's bacup (which you luckily created just before bricking our phone). I have personally used Total Saver from myphonedata and it worked pretty well on my Mac. There are other options if you look around, but I found this one to be offering much for for less.
Post recovery of your data, simply setup your iPhone as a new iPhone - this will wipe out everything, but you already have the important ones backed up from the step above!

My iphone showed an app it recommended I download to update my phone, which I did.
My phone then switched off and showed a picture asking me to plug into Itunes, which I did. It then directed me to update my phone which took over 2 hours.
My phone still shows the diagram asking me to plug into itunes and it won't work! I have tried switching it off holding both the top and bottom buttons however the same picture remains and my phone is inoperable.
The error message on Itunes came up as error 3194 and guided me to this site.
I'd really appreciate any help in getting my phone working is anyone has experienced this before?

So, the mom lost her 16 gb iPhone 4, and freaked out and bought another one right away. The thing is she got an 8 gb. iPhone 4 and her last restore file seems to be bigger than the 6,3 gb left out by apple...
When trying to restore (from itunes, she didn't use iCloud) an error message pops out saying something like "This restore file isn't compatible with this iphone" and then all of the 6,3 gb. is used up by "Others" in the memory.
She wants at least to recover her contacts, how can she do that? Thanks!!

How can I see when my latest iphone back up occured in iTunes without the device connected?

My iPhon eis in recovery mode, presumably due to a failure in a software update as that was what I was last doing. I think my phone has been syncing via wifi but before I restore from back up, I want to know when my last back up was - can anyone tell me if I can look this up on iTunes?

To check when the latest backup was made on iTunes, open iTunes, go to iTunes menu (on the menu bar) > Preferences > Devices, and look for your iPhone's name and the date
