How to restore keychain?

I was having problems logging into my iMac after sleep (I enter a password after a set interval), so it was suggested I reset my default keychain. That worked, but now all my Transmit passwords are gone. The message when I reset says "Your current default keychain will be moved aside, but not deleted."
Moved where? I don't see anything in the keychain list that looks like my old keychain.

Sorry. I don't see any file with "old" in it.
Do you see any keychains at all?
Could I replace the "login.keychain" file with the one from my old drive?
You can try. Obviously I don't know what the condition of the file is. If it's corrupt, it may not work.

Look in <youraccount>/Library/Keychains to see what keychain files you have. You should see at least "login.keychain". Move that (or one of the others) elsewhere for safekeeping, then try to retrieve an older version with Time Machine.

I've searched for a restore option, but only found options for newer versions or options that don't seem to work. This issue has been solved. Someone on another group advised be to do the following:
1. *Copy* the relevant user from the TM backup to the laptop.
2. Use a slightly older version of the user.
When I did this, I was able to recover almost everything.

How to restore my imac from a time capsule

My iMac had its OSX 10.9.1 Mavericks fully deleted and reinstalled in the Aple Store in Haarlem Netherlands yesterday.
Seen severe corruption problems of my KeyChain log-in codes.
Everything restored from iCloud was fully OK such as Contacts, Calendar, Mail, Notes.
But I lost all my iTunes data and iPhoto data, MS Ofiice data such as Word, Excel, etc.
My iMac however was connected through WiFi to a Time Capsule but I really do not know if the Time Capsule was ever set to ON under System Preferences. Or was it simply always set to OFF on my iMac.? .......
Question 1 : How can I find out directly on my Time Capsule if a separate Volume was ever made for this iMac ? And how can I restore that volume - if I find it back - to my iMac ?.
Time Capsule Program on my restored iMac seems to be fully empty. Last date is yesterday and nothing before.
Question 2 : When I connect my iMac directly through Ethernet cable to my Time Capsule I do not know how to find and retrieve (restore) the speciic volume for my iMac.
Question 3 : how to delete the very old volumes directly on the Time Capsule which are not in use any more since years. ?
Question 4 : Any other suggetions for how to restore iPhoto and iTunes ? From iPhone, from iPod ? Let's not discuss Photostram here now.....

Mavericks does nasty things to the Time Machine backups..
It tends to overwrite everything or certainly to hide it.
If the TM was not turned on, then it could not backup.

The guy who wrote all this info died before he had a chance to update it to Mavericks.. sadly.. he did a great service to the community.
Conclusion .. do not send stuff to Apple for repair before you make a disk image backup. Never trust Time Machine to do whole computer restores.. and Mavericks is a mess.

Restoring Keychain Passwords When Reinstalling OS

I have keychain passwords enabled across all my devices - iMac running Mavericks, and iPad and iPhone running ios7. I chose not to set up a security code as I did not want my passwords stored in the Cloud.
My question is: if I need to completely reinstall my OS, or choose to do a clean install of a future update to OS such as Yosemite, how do I restore my keychain passwords without a security code?

Thanks for your response, PJRS, but if I were to do a clean install of, say, Yosemite I would almost certainly choose not to migrate my users from a TM backup. I would prefer to reinstall all my software from scratch and only restore data files from Time Machine (most are held on an external disk anyway). Could I still restore Keychain passwords from Time Machine in this instance (and if so where would I find them)?

If you have a Mac the password should be in your Keychain app.

How to restore old prefs, etc after clean reinstall of 10.3.9?

Due to a fiasco with Drive Genius I was forced to reformat and reinstall 10.3.9. Luckly, I was bright enough to manually copy over the entire contents of the drive to a firewire drive before I started the drive genius project.
I was able to find directions on how to restore my users which worked perfectly.
I've copied all the apps back. But all the apps were in the main drive rather than in users, so the prefs, registrations etc are, I assume, stored in the old library.
Is there a way to replace the new library with the original to avoid several days work digging out the original packaging to get the serial numbers for re-entering so I can get back to work right away?

The serial #s, etc were in fact in the original main library. I was able to restore the use of all the programs by manually replacing the missing items in each folder in the library. It took over an hour, but I got it all back and saved me from having to rummage through storage boxes for the original documentation to retrieve and re-enter all the info.

Wow! I think I had this same issue just last night.
I was cleaning my macbook pro retina on the outside. Then I opened it up and was wiping dust off the monitor and I can't pinpoint exactly when, but the colors changed suddenly. It looked super strange, it was like green halo's and it looked worse when looking at it at an angle. Of course I took no pictures!!! I was freaking out that my 2 grand laptop was busted and I somehow removed a protective film or something.
But I digress... The image looked very green and spacey, it was almost a neat effect. After about 5 minutes it started to look a little more digital though. There were straight lines of this halo effect on the edges and top. After about 10 minutes it turned into a predominate issue with the blacks on screen. I could open a web browser and it was unnoticable on a white background. After about 15 minutes, you could only barely see the green cloud effect if you looked at the monitor from an extreme angle. After about 20 minutes, it was completely back to normal, I almost feel paranoid like I see a halo or something strange. But I believe that might be all in my head now.
So yerp, lemme know what you guys figure out.

Apparently the phone is so old that I am unable to install Backup Assistant on it, which sucks. I have all my old contacts saved on my computer as a CSV and also another copy on a micro SD as VCF. I have tried moving the CSV from my computer to my ENV2 via both Bluetooth and USB cable, but had no luck with either of those. I also tried to pop the micro SD into the ENV2, and although I can load all my old pictures/videos/etc. from the micro SD, I do not seem to be able to restore the contacts from card. I know there has to be some way to manually transfer these files; the contacts are still on my old phone as well; but I was unable to use the transfer wizard for that because my old phonedoesn't seem to be supported by that (Pantech Jester 2)

Google a program called bitpim, that might do what you want. Never used it but it's been talked about on the forums. Other than that you might have to input them manually. Mary

I believe because you migrated from a Nokia to an iPhone you need to register the Bn phone number with your Apple ID so it can be used for iMessage. The Pn number seems to be the only one registered
