How to restore lost notes

Any help on an iPhone Notes glitch that just erased valuable Notes?  It kept 3 old Notes and erased 4 new Notes.
I was just getting used to this and now the rug is swept from under me :(

Let me add to my own comments... If this is a fr€^king sync issue then there should be some restoration function, right?  How the H. can any software or program update itself and not be able to restore?  I'm no techie but Apple should be held accountable for this sloppy performance.

  • How to restore a Note in Mail from Time Machine

    I have accidentally deleted some text in a note that I had in Mail (Notes).
    Trying to undo didn't work, and I can't find the file to restore it back from Time Machine.
    I've tried searching with spotlight but couldn't find anything.
    Any ideas of where the saved note would be stored?
    Thanks in advance and Happy Thanksgiving

    Don't try to restore the file; restore the Note. Go in Mail to the mailbox where the note belongs. Enter Time Machine from there and step back until you find the Note.

  • How to restore lost Finder preferences in 10.6.5?

    Running 10.6.5 on a MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz i5.
    In each Finder window, I had, over months and years, set up a specific setting according to my needs:
    Some windows had different background color;
    Some windows were set to list view, some to icon view;
    Some had icons of a certain size, some had icons of a smaller or larger size;
    Various windows were sized and arranged on the screen to meet various requirements;
    and most importantly, in each window the icons in icon view were often arranged in a specific organizational pattern.
    In fact, this is how I organized my work flow -- moving icons from one area of a Finder window to another to represent their various stages of completion in projects.
    I've been using Finder this way for years, never a problem.
    But after a recent Shut Down and Restart, for no apparent reason, ALL of my existing Finder preferences were wiped away for every window.
    Now, all windows have been reset to have the same background color, all windows the same size and the same location on the screen, all be in icon view, have the icons all be the same (maximum) size, and worst of all all rearranged alphabetically in a grid. All my customization was wiped clean, and all windows reset to what I presume was the default appearance.
    No data or files were lost, as far as I can tell. The computer seems to be functioning perfectly as it always does in every other way. The only thing that went wrong was that the Finder preferences were zeroed out and reset.
    For most people, this really wouldn't be much of a problem, as they don't really use the Finder icons and windows to organize concepts and workflow as I do; but for me this is a disaster, because now I've lost track of all sorts of "information" encoded in how each window appeared and how icons were arranged.
    I could laboriously by hand try to restore each window to how I thought it was, but there are literally hundreds or thousands of windows, each containing in some cases hundreds of icons representing hundreds of work files in various stages of completion, and the whole process would take me weeks to get it back to the way it was, and even then it would certainly be inaccurate, as I'd be relying on my memory.
    So my question is: Is there any way to get back and restore my Finder preferences to the way they were before this mysterious "Finder Amnesia Event," or whatever it was? Or do i just resign myself to accepting this setback and go about restoring each window's set-up by hand?

    No, probally not.
    But there are security issues with 10.6.5 and you really need to Apple menu> Software Update to 10.6.8 right away.
    Perhaps that's is what caused it?

  • Restore lost Notes

    In a recovery from lost bookmarks, I had to PUSH a replacement set to the iPad (USB connect to my Pro). The "notes" seemed to push as well - replacing my active notes with some old notes from my pro.
    Is there ANY way to restore or recover my notes? Are they in a "trash" area? Is there a way to "go behind" the interface and find these "trashed" notes in some suspense area?
    Related - the terms "backup" and "restore are misleading on iTunes.
    Only the settings are backed up, right? if not then how do I recover (thinking my old notes might be there).
    The "Restore" is restore to the FACTORY SETTINGS - should say so.
    Thank yo for helping - especially if you have some ideas for recovery of my notes.
    One last thing - there is a PUSH of items TO the iPad (and iPhone) - but nothing the other way.
    DON'T tell me "sync" will do that - DON'T GET ME STARTED (as Krusty says)

    From what I can see Notes are now stored in a hidden folder. Even when you find them in Time Machine they are not recoverable. Send Apple feedback http://www.apple.com/feedback/ . This bug should be fixed as soon as possible.
    Read https://discussions.apple.com/message/19171700#19171700 for info on where they are now stored. To open your Library folder open a Finder window then click the Go menu pressing the Option key on the keyboard to make Library appear.
    Notes should be recoverable by entering Time Machine with the Note app open as other apps work. When I open the folder mentioned in the thread then open Time Machine all deleted and modified Notes get marked as "(Null)" and contain no data.

    yep, Time Machine is your solution, if you have it set up. Just restore the backup file, and restore your iPhone from it.

  • HT4191 how to retrieve lost notes??

    I use my ipad for majority of my church stuff. sheet music/ my preachings/ & itunes.  I recenlt lost my recent 3 sermons, and i didnt delete them. How can i find and retrieve????

    If you backup your iPad, your notes will be in the backup. But the notes will only be in there as of the date of the last backup. In other words, if you backed up last week, but if you created the notes since then without backing up again, they are gone. So if your notes are in your backup, restore from the backup.

  • How to restore lost music back onto iPod?

    Background: A few days ago, I synced my iPod. Not sure exactly what I did, but something cause all of my videos and music to be deleted from my iPod during the sync. Anyhoo, I noticed afterward that, under "On My Device," all of my songs and playlists were still intact (as if they are hidden on my iPod, or at least the data is saved somewhere). How do I get what I see on my computer screen to go back onto my iPod?
    And also, what does the sync button do in the below picture? Does it put computer stuff--> iPod, or put iPod stuff-->computer?
    http://i.imgur.com/LFFeGTM.png
    Thanks for reading.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
    To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Manage Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
    Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
    All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
      - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    The sync button does it want is says. However. it looks gray and thus not active.

  • How to restore lost playlists?

    My daughter recently logged onto my computer (using her individual screen name) and opened ITunes. She later logged off her screen name, and I logged on.
    when I logged on and opened ITUnes, all of the songs which historically appeared in ITunes were missing. It was blank. I opened the file on my hard drive which contained my songs and imported all of them back into ITunes. So far, so good. However, I observed that none of my playlists were restored. Is there a way to do this, short of manually recreating each one?
    One thought occured to me. I have not connected my Ipod to my computer since this mishap occurred. This means that the playlists on my Ipod are still in their original condition. Is there a way to upload the playlist info from the Ipod to Itunes?
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • How to restore TABLESPACE not in backup set?

    I was playing with RMAN on one of my test databases. Here's what I did.
    1) Performed full backup on an ARCHIVELOG enabled database
    2) I created a table space named TBLSP
    3) shutdown the database
    4) Corrupted the only data file in TBLSP
    5) startup
    As you all guessed database won't open. I was pretty sure that if I restore last full backup and roll archive logs forward, I would be able to recover my corrupted tablespace.
    6) rman target /
    7) restore datafile 'D:\oracle\oradata\training\tmptbl01.dbf';
    8) I get
    RMAN-06023: no backup or copy of datafile 14 found to restore
    9) Then I tried following and both worked(?) fine.
    RMAN> RESTORE DATABASE UNTIL TIME "TO_DATE('09/04/2006 12:20:00','MM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS')";
    RMAN> RECOVER DATABASE UNTIL TIME "TO_DATE('09/04/2006 12:20:00','MM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS')";
    10) Now I can do ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS;
    Database is opened but I lost tblsp tablespace. What should I do to recover corrupted tablespace until its last consistent state.
    Thanks...

    From the error you received, I would assume you are not on 10g?
    If you are on 10g, once you determine the tablespace containing the corrupted datafile, you could rename the datafile on the file system and issue the following in RMAN:
    RMAN> startup mount;
    RMAN> restore tablespace tblsp;
    RMAN> recover tablespace tblsp;
    RMAN> alter database open;or
    RMAN> startup mount;
    RMAN> restore datafile <corrupt_datafile_#>;
    RMAN> recover datafile <corrupt_datafile_#>;
    RMAN> alter database open;
