Sorry I had to reply through your profile Gail from Maine, my PC has java issues. In any event, when I delete them directly from my device everything is perfect and cool. However, in the rare instance I want to add new music that I actually buy in stores (I know, quite the unique and old-fashioned idea...but hey Im an audiophile) once I upload the tunes, everytime I sync my library it re-adds everything that I spent hours deleting. In a perfect world, I thought I could maintain a massive iTunes Library, and add or delete (remove) songs from my iPhone to save both memory or keep my iPhone selections more current/apt to my musical "tastes" at that time. I know about the whole playlist thing, but thought there might be an easier way. ie - checking/un-checking the little box next to the song name, and then doing a sync. Again, everytime I do this however, whether everything is checked or un-checked it adds the entire library! So frustrating. Any suggestions. Thank you graiously in advance for your help.

I did search on google and found out that serveral people has this problem. The songs wont delete from itunes library.
So why do they even make this function if it only deletes the songs for a short time?

I also have this question as well. I've done everything from turning off the "show all music" to turning off icloud. After hours of frustration, I decided to delete all music and just re-download the songs i actually want on my phone. Apple makes everything so much more difficult than it has to be. To download more than one track at at time highlight the tracks you want to download, right-click and choose "download." However, this is not the most efficient way to restore an iTunes library. You should restore your personal data from the backups you make to an external HDD. You do make backups, don't you?

Do they have a cloud beside them? If they do, they are not on the device, they are just showing up there so you can re-download them from the Cloud.
If you want them to not show, go into Settings > Music and turn off Show All Music

Help! I recorded onto an external harddrive, then copied all the project folders to a different drive. Now, I can't find the project files, but I can find the "Project File Backups" in the Project Folders. I suspect the original project files were saved separately from these folders on the original hard drive, but that is long gone, so I am hoping some one can tell me how to recreate the project from the files in the "Project File Backups" folder.

Hi there
Your Project File Backups are simply the previous Project files you've saved. These files are essentially the strip settings, layouts, midi, and pointers to the audio files of your Project.
If you have trashed the audio files then your are outta luck. This is why you should Consolidate (File-->Project-->Consolidate) all of your projects into one Project Folder on your HD. That way all of your Audio files as well as your sample files and UltraBeat files remain consolidated within a Project Folder. You can then Copy that entire Project folder to another location and have all of the respective files for that Project.

How to sync music/videos from iphone to computer - lost ext hard drive

I recently lost my external hard drive where I was storing all my music, videos and photos. Long story, but the backup was not occurring. I have precious video and music on my iphone (some original, not purchased) that I don't have the data for, but the iTunes libraries are still intact. But the libraries are pointing to a drive that doesn't exist. I have purchased a new hard drive that has the same drive letter as the original one. Will iTunes create a new folder and sync my music and videos to the same place, or do I need to recreate exactly the same path? Also, if something like this will work, will it sync, bringing the files from the iPhone to the new external hard drive? Please, can anyone help?

Thanks for your reply, KiltedTim! After reading on some additional resource sites and evaluating suggestions and reviews, I did try a 3rd party software which worked beautifully! The software allows the user to store the data into different folders by content type, including subfolders, too. I completely understand Apple's theology to make the sync a one way deal for copyrighted content, but when the unthinkable happens, it sure is nice to at least have an option to preserve anything personal and legal that you have on your iPhone that you lost on your hard drive, mainly music, videos, voice memos, text messages and notes. I am completely respectul of the protection of copyrighted music...I am just very glad that the people that created the software "had my back" this time for my precious family memories and the time saved trying to reimport all my music CD's!

You can't individually deauthorise 'dead' installations or computers you no longer have access. okay so on my old computer (and on my iphone now) i had/have around 1000 songs in my itunes from various websites, around half of these are free downloads of independant artists and things like that, so not purchased in itunes. the other half i did purchase. my old computer broke, so i can't get to any of the non purchased songs, besides from my phone. i transferred all my purchases into my new computers itunes so around 450 of my songs i can access, but the rest are only on my phone. itunes keeps prompting me to erase and sync but that would get rid of all the non purchased songs on my phone so they would basically be lost forever, right? i know they want me to do that to protect against illegal downloads and things like that but this stuff isn't downloaded illegally! is there anything i can do to get my music on this computer or am i basically screwed? also i've tried downloading a few free tracks from various websites (again, legally)... they are showing up in my itunes library but every time i try to drag them onto my phone it doesn't work. my computer is authorized and i've tried everyhting else i can think of... can anyone help? i have windows 8 and my itunes and iOS are both updated fully, if that makes any difference. thanks!

The iphone//ipad/ipod is not a backup/storage device. The sync is one way - computer to iphone. The exception is itunes purchases.
There is no free, or Apple supported, way to extract any other music.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer. Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything back.
Iphone sync with one computer at a time. Syncing to another will erase the current content from the iphone and replace with the content of the new computer.
