How to restore Data from past iCloud backup?
Is there a way where i can retrieve my spreadsheets from the past iCloud backup of numbers?

Your Numbers documents were synced with iCloud so they would be stored on the server rather than being included in the backup.  If you were signed into your iCloud account on a Mac that you were backing up with Time Machine, you could restore them from your Time Machine backup.

  • How to restore from Time Machine when backup is larger than HDD

In an attempt to upgrade my 13 inch, 8GB 2010 MacBook Pro (750 GB HDD) from Mavericks to Yosemite, the Yosemite install was stuck at "about a minute remaining" for hours (overnight).  So I cancelled the install and tried again only to be stuck at the same spot.  I took the mac to an Apple Genius Bar to have it looked at while it was stuck at that install step.  They couldn't fix it and did a fresh install of Yosemite.  Luckily, I had backed it up about a week before, so I wasn't losing a whole lot.  I attempted to restore from the Time Machine backup using Migration Assistant (2TB external USB 3.0) of the latest backup but the estimated time to restore from backup kept climbing to more than 150 hours.  Eventually it had an error message that there wasn't enough free space on the HDD (the same 750 GB drive that my backups were from).  There was less than 100GB of free space on the HDD before attempting the upgrade.
How can I restore at least a portion of my Time Machine backup, like my Documents and Apps?  I don't even mind going back to Mavericks so that I can use my computer again!  For example, I need MS Office but I cannot use it on Yosemite if I do not first get my original backup working again so that I can unregister the current version (the product key is "lost" with my inaccessible backups!).
Most of the information I can find online is how to prepare for a proper backup, but at this point since Apple Genius did a fresh install, Time Machine has my only backup!
    Any advice would be great!
p.s. This may be useful to know:  I had several virtual machines from Parallels: Windows, Ubuntu, etc before I upgraded to Mavericks from Snow Leopard.  Mavericks required an updated Parallels that I never got but I'm sure those VMs are hiding in my backup drive.

OS X Yosemite: Restore items backed up with Time Machine
While in Time Machine, press the key combination shift-command-C. The front window will show all mounted volumes. All snapshots should now be accessible. Select the one you want and navigate to the files you want to restore.
If you need to restore from a backup of the hidden user Library folder, first select a snapshot, then press shift-command-G. A Go to Folder dialog will open. In it, you'll enter the path to the folder. The dialog will help you by automatically completing the parts of the path when you start to type them.
The path begins with slash character ("/"). Enter that. The rest of the parts will be separated by slashes.
The next part is the date and time of the current snapshot. Enter a "2", and the rest of the date should be filled in automatically. Press the right-arrow key to jump to the end of the path. Enter a slash to start the next part.
Next is the name of the volume (usually "Macintosh HD" unless you gave it a different name.) Start to type that, then jump to the end and enter a slash.
The next part is "Users", followed by a slash.
Next is your (short) user name, which is also the name of your home folder.
Finally, enter "Library", then press return. You should now be in the Library folder. From there you can get around as in the Finder.

  • How to restore machine using a TM backup on a usb hard drive from older imac to a brand new iMac?

My imac (the one that had a superdrive in it), had a broken superdrive and was sent for repair. Whilst being "repaired" the screen was broken. I now have a brand new imac albeit without a dvd drive. My question is how to I restore my the old TM back up which had been made to an external usb hard drive to the new imac. Help files say that I should not restore from a TM file to a different machine and that I should use migration assistant. Whilst I can see the external usb drive in TM it is not being recognised in Migration assistant when I click on back up from a TM backup on another machine or disk.
    Any ideas?
Just noticed that this new machine is running OSX 10.8.4  the broken imac was on mavericks

This is very simple first run Software Update on the new machine and get your machine upgraded to the most recent version of Mountain Lion 10.8.5. Install all other software updates Apple recommends in Software Update. Then care fully read Pondini's guide on using Migration Assistant located at:
    http://pondini.org/OSX/MigrateLion.html
Your migrated data will be in a new account, to access it log into the new account.
Also DO NOT repeat DO NOTuse Wi-Fi to migrate data, if your TM backup drive uses USB, then connect it via USB and follow the on-screen instructions as described in Pondini's guide.

  • How to restore my iPhone when my backup doesn't show up?

Today 12/28/13, I brought my iPhone 5 into an apple store to get a battery replacement and had to delete everything on my iphone. I backed up my iphone a few nights before and made sure that everything was saved onto my computer. When I came home after the battery replacement, I went to restore my phone from the previous backup 12/24/13, but instead, iTunes backed up my 12/28/13 phone with all of the erased content and wouldn't show the back up I actually wanted, the 12/24/13. I tried going into device preferences and that didn't show the backup I wanted either. When I searched through the backup folder in my computers system (windows 7), I went into Mobilesync, backup, and found the backup folder I actually want back onto my itunes and dragged it onto my desktop.
Now my question is, how do I move this folder back onto my itunes? This is the only backup I want back.

To move the folder back you need to access:
    \Users\(your username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
And insert the folder back to it, iTunes will automatically recognise it

  • How to restore from a time capsule backup

Just wondering this - say my 27 inch iMac just died. But I was backing up to my Time Capsule. And then the next day I buy a new 27 inch iMac (same model HD space, etc OR maybe even greater and better). Can the new 27 inch iMac restore EVERYTHING to how it was from the original 27 inch imac? Would all my photos from iPhoto be restored? My music/movies from itunes?

Can the new 27 inch iMac restore EVERYTHING to how it was from the original 27 inch imac? Would all my photos from iPhoto be restored? My music/movies from itunes?
    Yes.
An application called Setup Assistant will appear on the new iMac at startup to ask if you if want to setup the iMac from a Time Machine backup. The "new" iMac will look just like the "old" iMac when  you do this.

  • How to restore iphone from a certain backup file?

This is for a iphone 4s.
I have located the backup files on my PC, which is under some geberrish file name in my hard drive. I have two backup files, one from 1 week ago, one from this week. How can I choose to restore from the file that I backed up a week ago?
I tried plugging the phone in and go through itunes, but itune only gave me the option to restore from the backup file from this week (which is no good because the new backup file has nothing in it for some reason, 0MB of file ).
    PLEASE HELP!! THANK YOU!!

I think when you elect to restore in itunes it asks you which backup you want to use if you connect your phone to itunes and right click (for PC) then clcik restore you might get to choose

  • How to restore ipad2 ios 7 from backup

I have an ipad2 which I backed up on my computer.  I copied all files from Itunes folder and ipad2 folder.  Also did a backup using itunes.  I have the iPad2,2 7.2 Restore.ipsw somewhere in my computer.   Is there a way to restore my ios 7 (getting rid of the miserably non-functional ios8) from my backup?  If so, how can I find it in my computer?  what is the step by step restore procedure?  Do I need to turn off wifi in order to get the ipsw to take?  Or do I need to restore to factory settings, and then "update" to 7.2?  How would I do that?   Please help!  I've spent the last ten days trying to figure this out and am about to turn my once beloved ipad 2 into a man-made reef (deep, deep in the ocean!).

Sorry, Apple does not support the downgrading of the iOS.
Even if you managed to find it on your computer, when your try to validate the install with iTunes it won't work because Apple only signs the current iOS.
I know iOS8 can take come getting used to, if you'd like to start another thread with our issues perhaps people here can suggest things that will help.

  • Help! How to restore LR 1.1 database backup

I run LR 1.1 under Windows XP. I have LR 1.1 setup to backup the database to an external hard drive. Once a week it prompts me to backup the database, which I do. In the middle of importing some raw files from a CF card, I received a message that my catalog was corrupt. My understanding is that I need to remove the LR Catalog file from the LR directory in My Pictures folder and replace it with the backup catalog. On the external hard drive where I have been backing up LR, I opened a directory called R:\Lightroom Database Backup\2007-08-22 0900, which I assume is where my latest backup is. Inside this directory is a 251,560 KB file called Lightroo. That is correct, Lightroo with no "m". Is this suppose to be the backup LR catalog file? If so, after dragging it into the LR folder, and then CTRL click load LR, when I try to specify this Lightroo file, but LR does not recognize it.
I am lost. How do I use the database backup that I have been regularly creating on my external hard drive to correct the corrupt catalog message I get when loading LR?

The backup file is not called Lightroo unless that is what you named it for some reason. The default backup files have the same name as your working database file whatever that is - XXXXXXX.lrcat. The backup folder you listed looks ok. When you setup the backup procedure on the external hard drive, did you look to make sure that LR was actually putting a copy of your database file where you intended and that it was named properly. Maybe you can simply change the file name from Lightroo to Lightroom.lrcat LR does not care what you name the database file as long as it has the proper extension, lrcat.
It would also be a good idea to check exactly where LR is putting your backup files. I believe there is a Browse button you can click to open a dialog and see where LR is currently putting them.
You don't necessarily have to replace your corrupt file with a backup file to test the backup. You can point LR at any functional database file and it will open it wherever it is. So you can test your backups using the File/Open Catalog command. Once you are sure you have a working file, simply move the backup it to the location where you want it stored and point LR to that location in the future.

  • How to restore library from a CD backup

    Hi,
My PB 12" HD just decide to die last week. So I had to change it, and get my pictures back from a DVD backup I had. The backup is a little bit older that what I had in mind, but it is still better than nothing!
The problem I have is that I do not know how to get back the information I had. On the DVD, my keywords are there, but if I just copy the files to my library, they do not keep their the keywords when copied.
How should I proceed to get my library it was at the time of this backup?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I've looked on the CD, and finally found out that the format was identical to the iPhoto 5 photo library folder.
So I just copied the file to my HD in My Pictures, then I open iPhoto which ask to translate the library to iPhoto 6.
But after that, I realized that most pictures had a keyword attach to them, but the wrong one. For instance, my travel pictures had the family tag, then some family tag were friends, or something like that... It was the same on the DVD backup, I had just not take attention to it before...
But, since that took back also the folders and album I had created in standard albums, I was able to rebuilt most of the tag without having to look at every pictures one by one in the library... Better than nothing...
    Thanks

  • How to restore a table from a backup table

I used this sql to backup my fnd_table:
    create table fnd_concurrent_queues_backup as (select * from fnd_concurrent_queues);
I modified some things in this table for diagnostic purposes with my concurrent managers, now I need to restore back to my original table, I believe this would be correct but I'm not 100% sure as I never had to restore the table. Please help me verify this.
    alter table fnd_concurrent_queues as (select * from fnd_concurrent_queues_backup);
Is this correct or is there another way to restore this table?
    Thanks

According to eTRM "APPLSYS.FND_CONCURRENT_QUEUES does not reference any database object" but there is no harm in compiling all invalid objects just to be sure none exists.
And yes you're right the CM should be down.
And I should mention that shouldn't be done in production.
    Thanks,
    Hussein

  • How to restore iTunes from a PC backup?

My PC crashed and I have restored my iPod to my PC iTunes.  Not all of my songs were on my iPod.  I don't have an iTunes backup, but I do have a PC backup on an external hard drive.

See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
As I understand it if you have a "new" calendar with at least one entry and try to sync this to the device you should be offered the choice to replace or merge with the details on the device. Obviously you want to merge. Backup the device first in case something goes wrong so you can at least restore it to the current state.
