  • How to manage an iPhone on a new iTunes library

    Hi all,
I have an iPhone 5S, on iOS 8.3, and I manually manage its contents on iTunes on my now old computer (Windows 7).
Today I got delivery of a Macbook Pro, running on OS X Yosemite (10.10.3), and I want to start managing my iPhone with it, rather than with my old computer, but the only thing I have found so far includes erasing the contents on my iPhone; something I don't much intend to do.
Is there a way of managing my iPhone with my new Mac, rather than with my old PC without erasing it?
I looked everywhere, and still haven't found a good enough solution.
PS. I still have access to my old computer if it's necessary to do something that involves it.

Copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer to /Music/ on new computer.
    See this -> https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204318
Then the iPhone should sync without asking to erase it.

  • How can i connect my iphone to a new itunes library without losing my contacts and photos ?

how can i connect my iphone to a new itunes library without losing my contacts and photos ?

Is the new iTunes library on a different computer, or the same computer?
Are you concerned about photos that you have taken with the iPhone in the Camera Roll, or photos you have synced to the iPhone from your computer?
Contacts should be configured to sync with an app on your computer. You set this up in iTunes on the Info tab with the iPhone connected. You will not lose any contacts if the app on your computer has at least one contact.

  • HT1473 How can I transfer my music (not purchased from Itunes) from my Ipad/Iphone to my new Itunes library on a Macbook Pro?

I've recently bought a new Macbook Pro and in my Itunes Library everything I have purchased from Itunes is in my new Itunes Library.
However I want to transfer all my music (not purchased from itunes) from my Ipad/Iphone to my new Itunes Library.... and I have absoutely no idea how to do this? Also I'm scared to press sync when my ipad is plugged into my Mac incase will loose all this music!
    Help Please!

The iphone/ipad/ipod is not a backup/storage device.  The sync is one way - computer to iphone/ipad/ipod.
Copy everything from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.

Use the backup of the old computer and copy the iTunes files to the new one.
However, since you are writing here, you probably didn't have a backup, so check out this user provided support document https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141

  • Synching Apps with new iTunes Library

My ongoing saga with iTunes continues - I've managed to get it running again by deleting the preference files and creating a new library.  Of course, now it doesn't list any of my songs, movies, tv shows, or apps.
As a first step I'm trying to sync my iPhone without losing $100 worth of apps.  I copied the "Mobile Applications" folder from the old iTunes library to the new iTunes library, but that has no affect.  If I try to right-click on the iPhone in iTunes and select "Transfer Purchases", iTunes immediately crashes.
Any other suggestions on how I can sync my iPhone with the new iTunes library without deleting all my apps?

That actually started to work and then around the 5th app iTunes crashed.
Since my earlier posts I've once again removed and reinstalled iTunes and related programs, and even deleted all the Apple Computer appdata folders so this would supposedly be an ENTIRELY clean install.  And still it doesn't work....
Does Apple offer any tech support for iTunes beyond useless e-mails to articles I've already tried?  They like to claim they have such great tech support on their hardware, but my various gadgets are useless without iTunes and they seem to offer no support for that.

How do I load a DVD into my Itunes library?

DVD movies/shows that you purchase are encrypted to stop you from doing this.
    Breaking this encryption it illegal.
Home movies can be converted to comapatible files and added to itunes.

  • How do I import old photos into new iPhoto library?

I have a new macbook pro running iphoto 11.  I am trying to import my photos onto the new computer from my old computer, running iphoto 8.  I mounted the old computer as a hard disk, but when I go to import the photos into new iphoto library on the new computer, the old iphoto library is "grayed" out under the users/pictures/iphoto location.
How do I transfer the photos?

To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
    Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.

  • I want to transfer music from an old iphone to a new itunes library , but not working

I want to transfer music from an old iphone to a new itunes but its not working

If you backup with iTunes and you restored from the backup and the data are gone, then there is no where to retrieve them from unless you have another backup that contains those data.
Launch iTunes on the computer and go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices. You will see a window with all of your backups listed in it.
If you see a recent backup that you are certain contains the data that you need, recover deleted data from iPhone backup.
If your note is gone from iCloud.com there is only a few ways to possibly recover it.
The first things I would check is a iCloud Backup, a iTunes Backup, or a 3rd party email that may have contained the note. To restore from a iCloud or iTunes backup follow this link. This article explains how to restore a device from either back up.
Note if you have backed up since the note went missing, you will not have the note on the backup. Make sure you do not back up if trying to restore from a back up as this will back up the content without the note.
To get to the "Set up assistant" on an iOS device, you must go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings. Once the phone restarts, you will be at the "Set up Assistant"

  • Moving music off ipod into new itunes library

My laptop was destroyed in a house fire along with my back up itunes disks, though i had my 80GB ipod clasic with me (as usual). I now have a new laptop but i don't know how to move music off my ipod into my new itunes library, or even if it is possible. please help, i want to put new music onto my ipod without losing what is already there. Thanks Heaps

For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod or iPhone to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.
