How to restore my notes

My wife accidentally deleted her notes and can't retrieve them. There is a older backup in Itunes but I'm having trouble restoring it, Any suggestions?

I sure did all the obvious,
If you had set up syncing correctly, there would be no problem. Likewise if you omitted syncing and backed up up all your important notes to iCloud immedately after creating them, they would have been restored with the backup.
Of course, the above assumes your phone is located in the same universe as the rest of us...
this joke cost me about 1000 euro of notes. Bah... thanks apple.

How to restore a Note in Mail from Time Machine

I have accidentally deleted some text in a note that I had in Mail (Notes).
Trying to undo didn't work, and I can't find the file to restore it back from Time Machine.
I've tried searching with spotlight but couldn't find anything.
Any ideas of where the saved note would be stored?

Don't try to restore the file; restore the Note. Go in Mail to the mailbox where the note belongs. Enter Time Machine from there and step back until you find the Note.

To be honest before i restored my phone i connected to the computer i let itunes to finish the automatic syncing and than made backup and restored and than restored from backup wich didnt helped. I'm disapointed because i can see my contacts when i acces Wondershare but i cant copy them .... Let me add to my own comments... If this is a fr€^king sync issue then there should be some restoration function, right? How the H. can any software or program update itself and not be able to restore? I'm no techie but Apple should be held accountable for this sloppy performance.

How to restore TABLESPACE not in backup set?

I was playing with RMAN on one of my test databases. Here's what I did.
1) Performed full backup on an ARCHIVELOG enabled database
2) I created a table space named TBLSP
3) shutdown the database
4) Corrupted the only data file in TBLSP
5) startup
As you all guessed database won't open. I was pretty sure that if I restore last full backup and roll archive logs forward, I would be able to recover my corrupted tablespace.
6) rman target /
7) restore datafile 'D:\oracle\oradata\training\tmptbl01.dbf';
8) I get
RMAN-06023: no backup or copy of datafile 14 found to restore
9) Then I tried following and both worked(?) fine.
RMAN> RESTORE DATABASE UNTIL TIME "TO_DATE('09/04/2006 12:20:00','MM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS')";
RMAN> RECOVER DATABASE UNTIL TIME "TO_DATE('09/04/2006 12:20:00','MM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS')";
10) Now I can do ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS;
Database is opened but I lost tblsp tablespace. What should I do to recover corrupted tablespace until its last consistent state.

From the error you received, I would assume you are not on 10g?
If you are on 10g, once you determine the tablespace containing the corrupted datafile, you could rename the datafile on the file system and issue the following in RMAN:
RMAN> startup mount;
RMAN> restore tablespace tblsp;
RMAN> recover tablespace tblsp;
RMAN> alter database open;or
RMAN> startup mount;
RMAN> restore datafile <corrupt_datafile_#>;
RMAN> recover datafile <corrupt_datafile_#>;
RMAN> alter database open;

I have a bunch of notes on my iPhone in the "on My iPhone" account. To fix the vanishing music problem on my iPhone, the Apple store had me hard restore my iPhone and told me not to restore from backup. I can find how to replace my music, calendars, etc from iTunes, but I can't figure out how to restore my "notes". Since I've been storing a lot of stuff in notes, I need to get the notes back. There is no obvious place in iTunes. There are no notes in my my "notes" app in OS 10.9.

If they were in the "On my iPhone" account, they are gone now. You would have had to sync them to the Notes app on your Mac.
Did you ever do a backup? If so, there are some programs that claim they can extract data from backups, so trying one of those may be worth doing.

How to restore backed up files (not lightroom catalogue) from one external drive to another.
I recently backuped my photo files from one external drive to another. The backup (carbon copy cloner) pointed to some corrupt files on the original drive.
I have deleted those files and am finding good copies of them in Time Machine backups.
I want to get rid of the original external drive; use the recent backup as my main external and then back it up onto a brand new drive.
What I am not sure about is how to point lightroom to the backups so it knows to look on the new drive instead of the old drive and all those exclamation marks and question marks go away.
There are close to 60,000 images in numerous folders all with one 'parent folder.'

Can I point to the one parent folder and all the subfolders will come back?
Is this the process to recover files into lightroom and will there be a problem with so many photos?

How to restore documents after a clean install when location is not known?

I have had some troubles with my computer recently and the person at the genius bar said I should wipe my drive clean and include everything except my library folders and system folder. The only thing I don't know how to restore is documents that aren't stored in a known location in the finder. What I mean is programs like LittleSnapper or Macjournal that have their files contained with the application (in another words I don't go to the Finder to save or open these documents.)
I did a search for some files from "Things" and it looks like these get stored under the library. Therefore if I choose to not restore the library (like the Genius said) wouldn't I lose access to these files?! LittleSnapper appears to save it's files in a hidden folder on the hard drive called "private". How can I restore that folder if I don't even have access to it?
Do I just export the files from these programs to the finder and then reimport them later? "Things" doesn't even appear to have a way to export it's files that I know of.

The reason I thought that is if you open a LittleSnapper screen shot in Photoshop or where ever and then command click on the windows title it shows the private folder on the file's path.

How to restore an Apple TV first generation if it does not factory restore in recovery mode?

The other day, while watching a movie, my Apple TV 1st gen just froze and became unresponsive to any remote control inputs. My intital attempts to just remove power and startup again failed and resulted in repeated crashes and renewed startups. On the discussions here ( Re: Apple TV 1st gen Factory Restore Problems ) I found out how to force restart by holding down the 'menu' key and the ' - ' key simultaneously. This brought me to the Recovery Menu.
Restart from there didn't work, only resulted in coming back to the recovery menu.
Diagnostics showed my Apple TV to be working normally.
Factory Restore immediately brought up a failure message that factory restore was not possible!
I tried this several times but always the same result. My trusted Apple TV first generation had mysteriously turned itself into a brick.
After searching the web and trying all kinds of things, I figured out how to save it. Here's how:

you need a good size USB stick, mine was 4GB
the first method described didn't work for me, is time consuming, and you need an ethernet internet connection
however the second method described (no network needed) worked, but not with the file posted on the website (had wrong size)
download the disk image with the Apple OS from here: http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php?title=Restoring_the_Apple_OS
I downloaded the Apple OS v3.0.2 file, this proved to be working
If you're on a Mac, download and install the ApplePi-Baker application from here: http://www.tweaking4all.com/hardware/raspberry-pi/macosx-apple-pi-baker/
If you're not on a Mac, follow the instructions in the thread posted in 1.
Using the ApplePi-Baker, or the other methods, restore the disk image to the USB stick; be patient, this may take a while
Unpower your Apple TV, plug in the USB stick, power up your Apple TV
Your Apple TV will now boot up from the USB stick and will install the latest OS on its harddrive
When completed, remove power, remove USB stick, power up and hold down the 'menu' and ' - ' keys simulatenously, this will bring your Apple TV into Recovery mode
Select Factory Restore
Your Apple TV will now factory restore to OS v 3.0.2
Note: This worked for me right away, but if not you may want to try the earlier OS version, see notes on the OpenElec Wiki page.
