If you pasted the new icons in the Get Info window, you just have to select the icons in this window and either cut them or deleted them with the Backspace key.

  • How to restore the application icon

I need to know how to restore the application icon back to my Macbook.  I need to download firefox and can not do so becuase the application icon is not showing up.

In the first place, the Firefox installer has an alias to the Applications folder in its window - you simply drag the fox icon onto that.
I'm assuming that the missing icon you're looking for is the one from the Dock?
If so, select Macintosh HD in the sidebar, find the Applications folder and drag it into the Dock (to the right of the line), being careful not to release the mouse until the other icons move aside for it. If you do that right, the Applications folder will remain in Macintosh HD, and you'll have shiny new alias to it in the Dock.

  • How to restore iphone/ipod icon in Finder window?

I accidentally deleted my ipod icon a while back and now can't seem to restore the icon in the finder window even with my new iphone.  How can I restore this? I can find the files on the ipod and iphone in other applications (ie. itunes and iphoto) but just not in the finder.
    Thank you.

You can restore the iPod icon by doing a "reset home screen layout" on the Iphone. Go to Settings ->General -> Reset -> Reset Home Screen Layout. It will come back

  • How to restore AND REPLACE mail folders (don't want duplicates etc)?

Bad OS X 10.5.7 upgrade has made my machine real slow doing many things.
So I want to revert to my superduper backup: the only new data since the OS upgrade is my email (and my Aperture data, but I can just restore from my vault for that).
If I use Mailbox->Archive Mailbox... function in Mail,
and then restore my old image, how do I get my mail up to date with the info in the archive without getting duplicate messages or other problems?
In other words, after reverting to my old image, if I execute File->Import Mailboxes... to get my newest email data, what will happen? E.G. restore folder "FAMILY", but I already have a folder "FAMILY" with mostly the same content (just a few new messages in the archive). Will I be left with two copies of most messages?
ALSO: Does the Archive function keep the folder hierarchy in tact even for the inbox - where the subfolders are different accounts?

this will import the archive into a new local mailbox in "on my mac section". it will be quite separate from your inbox. you can then copy what you need from that local mailbox back to the inbox and delete the local mailbox.
to simplify matters you can make a new local mailbox now, move recent messages there and archive only that.

archive function only archives one mailbox at a time a so you can't talk about any folder hierarchies here.

  • How to restore the Contacts icon in my Gmail account?

I just realize that my contacts are not being updated from my Gmail account. When I went to see my Gmail account settings the Contacts icon was missing from my iPhone Gmail account. When I called the Apple support I was advised to delete the account and recreate it again. I deleted the account, restarted the phone and then hard reset the phone. No luck. The icon is still missing!

hello Dhanraj K, for gmail accounts there shouldn't be much manual configuration required. please try to set it up like described in [[Add an email account to the Mail app in Firefox OS]]

  • How to restore missing bookmarks icons after system reinstall?

After reinstalling my system (Win 7 x64) and downloading the latest Nightly build of Firefox, logging in to Sync and syncing my bookmarks, I discovered that the icons are missing (white square with gray outline). After visiting a web page, the icon is set back to normal. The problem is, that I have lots of bookmarks, and it would take an enormous amount of time to visit every page. And on the second hand, with icons its easier to access bookmarks.

I don't think you can, you'd have to revisit every website.

  • How to restore deleted AppStore icon?

    hi guys,
Today I wanted to delete an app from my iphone with iFunbox but when I deleted that, appstore icon deleted too automatically!
I searched "appstore" with iFunbox and found "appstore.app" folder in Compass! then I copied it to my computer and  Import that into the System Application. Now the icon is back but when I open appstore, it close quickly
    is there any idea?
sorry for my bad english! I'm not a english man!
    thanks...

Deleted it? That would be really unusual, as you're really not supposed to be able to do that at all. Are you sure you haven't just accidentally dragged it into a folder? The app itself is clearly still present and working.

  • I seem to have lost the iBooks icon from my iPad.  When being prompted to open a document it asks if I wish to open in iBooks and can see the "books" there.  Any ideas on how to restore the iBooks icon?

I seem to have lost the iBooks icon - any ideas?

You've checked all your homescreens and app folders for it, and tried searching for it via the iPad's spotlight search screen (swipe your first homescreen to the right) ? There is a maximum of 11 homescreens after which apps are only accessible via the spotlight search scree.
If not then have you tried a reset to see if you can find it after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. You could also do Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout which will re-arrange your apps and might make it easier to find.

Wow!  I think I had this same issue just last night.
I was cleaning my macbook pro retina on the outside.  Then I opened it up and was wiping dust off the monitor and I can't pinpoint exactly when, but the colors changed suddenly.  It looked super strange, it was like green halo's and it looked worse when looking at it at an angle.  Of course I took no pictures!!!  I was freaking out that my 2 grand laptop was busted and I somehow removed a protective film or something.
But I digress...  The image looked very green and spacey, it was almost a neat effect.  After about 5 minutes it started to look a little more digital though.  There were straight lines of this halo effect on the edges and top.  After about 10 minutes it turned into a predominate issue with the blacks on screen.  I could open a web browser and it was unnoticable on a white background.  After about 15 minutes, you could only barely see the green cloud effect if you looked at the monitor from an extreme angle.  After about 20 minutes, it was completely back to normal, I almost feel paranoid like I see a halo or something strange.  But I believe that might be all in my head now.
So yerp, lemme know what you guys figure out.

  • How to restore after disk replacement?

l just had my iMac hard disk replaced due a recall.  Before taking it in I made a disk image with disk Utility and securely erased the disk.  I also have Time Machine back-ups going back several months.  On getting the machine back, since it contains sensitive data securely erased the new hard disk and started up with the Snow Leopard boot disk.  When I tried to scan the disk for reinstall I get an error "Unable to scan 'image name' (internal error)".  I tried several times with the same result.  I then tried to restore from Time Machine and got a message that No Mac OS X backups were found."
I installed Snow Leopard and again tried both approaches with the same result.  I can see to Time Machine backups on the disk but when I restore it simply copies the files into "/Volumes.  Anyone have ideas on how to restore the system?

    Rodocki wrote:
The disk image did not.  Not sure what's wrong with the disk image burn and restore process but it is clearly not dependable.
Unless you tested and restored it after making it, it's a poor choice, since it requires three volumes: the boot volume, source volume, and a destination volume. A bootable backup/clone made with Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper! is a much better choice. BTW, it's also significantly faster to restore one of these than it is to restore a disk image.

  • How to restore when during update, got 'connect to itunes" icon, no option to restore?

I was doing the latest update, but something went wrong and I got an update failed message. iPod touch had "connect to itunes" icon. iTunes did have a restore button, but only for an instant, and it went away (stupid robo-call rang, and I may have jumped). Now iTunes won't give me a restore option, and sync option in File/devices is grayed out.
Itunes also doesn't recognize the iPod when I plug it in, although the computer knows it's there. (Makes a sound when I connect it.)
I have rebooted computer, checked iTunes is latest version.
Tried the solution of holding down power and home buttons. The apple icon came up, but then it went immediately to the "connect to itunes" message.
I haven't tried the solutions that require you download a jailbreak program. Hope that isn't necessary.
Looked all over the internet, and haven't found a situation described where iTunes took away the restore option. Can someone help me?

    - Try another cable
    - Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
    - If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
