How to restore my thunderbird account
I tried to log on to my thunderbird account and it is not there. A window pops up asking me if I want to open a new account, which I did, but all of my saved information is gone. How can I restore the account with all of my saved files? Thanks for your help.
Follow the instructions on how to move a profile. This will tell Thunderbird again where your profile is stored.

My user account seems to be corrupted. It does not allow me to back up files in Quickbooks. Also, my internal speakers do not work. In order to hear anything, I need to connect headphones or external speakers to my laptop.
If it's only QuickBooks that crashes, it may be something only Intuit can fix. Does it crash with a crash report? Find crash reports by launching Console - it's in your Mac's Utilities folder. Click Show Log List if it is not already shown. Crash reports may be found under Diagnostic and Usage Information. Click the "reveal triangle" to the left of User Diagnostic Reports. Crash reports end in the suffix .crash.
Find the most recent one that appears to be related to QuickBooks. Copy and paste the entire crash report in a reply. Obscure or omit any information that you may consider personal. -

As you saw in the Profile folder mail accounts, 'folders' you see in the Thunderbird FolderPane are actually Files; mbox files.
Emails are downloaded to your Inbox and stored one after the other in the order they were downloaded. So, the emails are not stored as individual files, they are written into a text file which can get bigger and bigger if you do not manage the Inbox.
Any emails you delete, from your point of view they disappear from Inbox and reappear in 'Deleted' folder (Also called Trash).
In reality, those deleted emails are 'marked as deleted' and are still in the Inbox, but hidden. This means that if you had accidentally deleted an email, it would be easy to quickly get it back.
However, the deleted emails are still taking up space, so to clean up the file and remove those 'marked as deleted' emails, you have to 'compact' the folder. If you do not compact your folders then you increase the possibilty of getting a corrupted file and losing emails.
Using folders to organise emails into groups keeps the file size smaller and makes it easier to locate emails. It is also less risky. Smaller files also use less memory to open.

How to restore Mail inbox for one mail account?
I am away from home, and the inbox of one of my mail accounts on my MBP (10.7.3) has lost all its information. When I get home I want to restore (most of) the lost data from my Time Machine backup.
However, I do not want to restore all the accounts and all the mailboxes, just the one that was lost.
How to I find the Inbox for that account, in order to use the older file in Time Machine to restore it with?
DNYou just go to the mailbox in Mail that the messages are missing from and then, from there, choose Enter Time Machine from the Time Machine menu bar icon. You'll see the Time Machine interface, showing the current version of that mailbox, and you can go back in time to when the messages were still there. Then select the messages you want to restore (all of them, I'd guess) and restore them. They'll show up in a new mailbox (Recovered Messages or something? I forget exactly what it's called), and you can move them back to where you want from there.

I upgraded to ios6.1.3 on ipod touch and after I completed a sync on my PC but I suppose it did not sync, because now it will not restore from a back up and wants to restore from another account that I have saved. Can I some how restore the apps to avoid having to pay for them again and having to recreate settings?
As I said, the backup that iTunes makes does not include apps (and music) if those items where not in the iTunes library on the computer on which you restored they will not be on the iPod.

Can you open a window in finder and get to applications and then to utilities? Is MAIL in there?
And your "office email account"-- do you mean physical office, like place of work and you want that account in your mac mail on your computer? ~OR~ do you mean, microsoft office,mail account?

The school where I teach has recently switched all accounts to gmail. To use Thunderbird I had to register again, which gives me two Thunderbird accounts on the same left hand column. As far a I can tell, everything has migrated to the new account. Can I delete the old one--or hide it in someway? Is it safe to delete it? And how do I do it.
If you're certain there is no mail to be kept in the old account it can be deleted.
Press Alt or F10 in case the menu bar is hidden.
From the main menu bar:
Tools - Account Settings
Select the account to be deleted in the left pane.
Select 'Remove Account' from the 'Account Action' drop-down menu at the bottom. -

I have just restored my Macbook Pro having had some applications corrupting it. I have restored my data and other information, but am struggling to restore my email accounts, signatures, folders and contents. I have been using time machine, but do not know how to restore the right bit. Thanks for your help. P
Open Time Machine, and in Finder navigate to the "V2" folder (shown below) and highlight its contents. Then select the Previous DATE over on the right edge of Time machine to then "Restore" from.

People have been getting spam messages from "me" - that is my old hotmail account. This account has long ago been deleted, but it was linked to my Thunderbird account, which makes me think the spam is coming from there.

If they were sent from your computer they would be in the sent folder. This is usually not how it happens. They just acquire your email address and use it for the "sent from" address and it is sent from someplace else.
If you do not use the account go to Hotmail and delete the account. -

Yes phone will automatically backup to icloud when on wifi and phone is charge, but your phone storage was full so it stop backing up.
