How to Restore Non-Jailbroken 3G to 3.1.3

Has anyone figured out how to restore a non-jailbroken iPhone 3G to 3.1.3?
There are lots of links for people who had jailbroken their iphones earlier. But what about those of us who never jailbroke the iphone and just want to get back to 3.1.3?
And don't, please, suggest doing either a hard reset, or a restore and backup of iOS 4. I have tried all those things and I still find that if I don't reboot my iPhone 3G 3 or 4 times a day it quickly bogs down to a point where it is almost unusable.
Flailing away trying to make iOS 4 run better on a 3G phone is not the answer!

follow the instructions carefully. Note that you will need to have recboot already installed at the end.
It is great to have my iphone responsive again. it was terrible with os4

Hi all
My iPod Touch 4th gen had screen issues so was replaced via the Genius Bar with a new device. Prior to this I had done a backup to iCloud and also sync'ed with iTunes.
When I turned on the new device I selected to restore from iCloud backup and this seemed to work fine - I have all my apps, Camera roll photos and iTunes purchased music. However I dont have any of my non-iTunes music or photos. I was told I got these back simply by sync'ing the new device with iTunes.
When I plug the new device (now restored from iCloud) into my computer (a windows PC), iTunes starts up and the iPod Touch appears in the device list..... but that is as far as it gets. There is no sync and when you click on the device in iTunes nothing happens - in the main window where you would have seen the iPod data stats .etc, all I see is the word "iPod" in the centre.
Can anyone shed any light on this, is there something I need to do to get iTunes to properly recognise this newly restored device??

I was using ios 6.1.3 on my iphone 4 8gb.
Then i thought to update to ios7.1 since i heard that 7.1 is bit faster than 7.0.
So i downloaded the ipsw for ipswdownloader.com.
The problem is i can not restore it from itunes.
The restore process started and at the last got an error 14.
Now i tried thrice but still getting error 14.
Can not solve this.
Please help me.

This is why you should only update your iPhone using the version of the software provided by Apple.
Try putting your phone in DFU mode. A Google search will turn up the directions.

That is absolutely impossible. Siri requires an iPhone 4S or later.
if your friend really does have Siri working on an earlier iPhone, it was in fact jailbroken, and you will get no help from this forum at all.

You can try restoring the latest version in iTunes. Be aware that the jailbreak may have altered how your Mac works so you may want to make a clean install of OS X (on a spare disk) & retry installing the newest iOS from Apple onto the device via iTunes.
You can try all the usual steps to restore iOS onto a device.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings
If you can't update or restore your iOS device
You also cannot install older OS's from iTunes so you have little choice but to update the 3GS to iOS 6 (or perform more hacks). If it keeps failing I'd suspect something is altered on the Mac to allow the original jailbreak.
You must search elsewhere if you want to keep the jailbreak.

How to restore my iPhone apps into new iTunes library ??

I formated my PC recently and forgot to backup my iTunes library,when new login to iTunes on formated PC, the "Apps" page still can see all my Iphone Apps that installed before but all the apps icon on right hand side show in non active icon, when I tick the "Sync Apps" on the top left corner, the box "Are you want to Sync apps ? All existing apps and their data on the iphone " x's iphone" will be replace with apps from this iTunes library" , means if i click "Sync Apps" all my previous apps will gone !!! Anybody know how to restore the apps from my iPhone to iTunes library, so i can continue to Sync new apps while maintain my old apps.

state?"

How to restore apps after update

I have an IPad2 with 4.3.5 and due to some of the newer apps I was forced to upgrade to the newer 6.1.3
before i updated the IOS i backed up with the itune to my laptop.
i than installed the new ISO, when it is finished it acted as it is a new IPad there were none of my old apps. my pics did move over.
I than clicked on restore under the backups and it took about 8mins and when it finished I still had nothing on my Ipad??
is there is a way to restore my old apps or i have to redownload everything due to the newer IOS?

Is this how you restore from iTune Backup?
1. Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings
2. You'll be asked twice to confirm
3. You'll see Apple logo and progress bar
4. You'll see a big iPad logo on screen
5. Configuration start
6. Set language
7. Set country
8. Select Network and input Password>Join
9. Enable Location Service>Next
10. You'll be given 3 options (a) Setup as New iPad (b) Restore from iCloud Backup (c) Restore from iTune Backup
11. Select Restore from iTune Backup
12. You will see picture of USB cable pointing towards iPad
13. Connect iPad to iTune (make sure iTune is on standby)
14. Tap Continue (computer)
15. Restore iPad from Backup (computer)
16. See progress bar with estimated time (computer)
17. See Restore in Progress on iPad
18. See Apple logo
19. See Apple and Progress Bar
20. Slide to Unlock
21. Copying Apps back to iPad (computer)
22. You'll see Loading/Installing/Waiting below the Apps (iPad)
23. Sync Music/Podcast/Movies to iPad (computer)

Btw, it is not jailbroken. Everything was purchased on the apple store. It happened days after i update my software to ios 7.04.

Anyone know how to restore an iPhone 4 that's been jailbroken with Redsnow? The standard restore won't work and pops an error message that says "Apple doesn't recognize the current build." Any help would be appreciated

First I would do is go to your Settings > General > Scroll all they way down > Reset > Erase all contents and settings. This will wipe everything out on your phone, and once it's done it will have a itunes with the usb logo on it. From there you can try restoring your phone and see if that works.
If that didn't work then try putting your phone in DFU mode.
1. open itunes
2. connect iphone to itunes
3. Turn off iphone while it's connected with a usb cable but keep itunes open.
4. Hold the power button and the home button at the same time for 10 seconds.
5. Let go of the power button but continue to hold the home button for 30 seconds.
6. Itunes will detect that your phone is in recover mode.
7. Restore from there.
