How to restore photos after i tried to delete them, they are still there

I tried to delete some photos to give me room on my start up disc. First I tried saving them to a thumb drive then tried deleting the pix. The photos come up blank but I still see them sometimes. how do I restore them completely.

assuming that you deleted them in iPhoto to totally remove them empty the iPhoto trash and then the system trash
to move your entire iPhoto library to an external drive
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive
How to restore them - if you deleted tehm in iPhoto open the iPhoto trash and right click on them and restore to library

Best is to first find and undelete the previous profile folder and then undelete the bookmarkbackups folder in it with the JSON backups (bookmarks-####-##-##.json)
If you can recover an uncorrupted JSON back then you can use it to restore the bookmarks.

Thanks but I have no "Put Back" option when right-clicking. When I attempt to open a photo in iPhoto I receive a white exclamation point on a black background. I have restarted my PC since first encountering this problem but have not emptied trash though i appear to be out of memory. Also, iphoto library shows size as 17GB however, each photo shows 0KB. When i attempt to open a photo i receive message "Item <photo filename> is used by Mac OS X and cannot be opened." I can see the images when scrolling in iPhoto but they disappear when the screen is still. THANKS!

Yes, you have to connect the iPod to that computer and go to the Photos pane for the iPod in iTunes and uncheck sync photos and the click on synce/apply. In the future do not check sync photos.

You should be able to delete them from the bookshelf in the iBooks app via the Edit button at the top right of the bookshelf. If they show on the bookshelf with a cloud symbol on them then try turning Settings > iBooks > Show All Purchases 'off'. Is that what is happening ?

I'm a bit confused by your post.
When you delete a contact, I assume it is no longer listed in the Contacts app, right?
When a send a text, what exactly do you mean "they are still there"? Can you then go back into contacts and find the contact listed again?
Are you syncing contacts via icloud to several devices that you own?

They are not on the iphone in the first place. It is just a setting that allows you to see the songs that are available in icloud, but not on your iphone. If you turn the setting to off, then you no longer see the songs that are in icloud, but NOT on your iphone.

When importing, de-select images I want removed from disk. After import they are still there?

It is not very clear what you are exactly doing.
Did you import them all and want to delete after importing , then :
The choice you get is:
Remove ( from Lightroom) and
Delete from Disk, it is only the latter that will delete them from your disk.
During import you can not delete not selected files.

If the Photoalbums were loaded from iTunes on a computer they can only be removed by Itunes and a computer.
If the albums were created on your iPhone then they are deleted on your iPhone,
Ih tyey are iTunes sourced albums you need to connect back up to iTunes/computer that you have been using. In the device Photo tab deselect all the checkboxes that are being asked to sync.
Select apply in the lower right corner.

i want to reset my computer but before i did i made sure that i backed up all photos to icoud, once i reset it the option for restore back up was blocked off. how do i get my photos off of icloud back on to my computer?

Trouble setting an album from iphoto as screensaver. It says no photos exist in the album and yet they are clearly there.

An album in iphoto has 134 photos in it and yet when asked to use for screensaver in system preferences it reads as no photos. Even if I selec all......

WHat I mean is this, You have pages, the actual paper so to speak, numbered 1,2,3,4,5,6.......45. You could see each number on the bottom of the page. As is you have on the top left corner which pge you're on based on the toal pages, for ex. 7 / 49 If you happen to be on page 7 on a total of 49 pages. Assume now you delete the numbered page 7. What you have now is still page 7 showing on the top left corner but on the actual pdf it is page 8. My question is, assuming it is possible, to make that top corner equal to the actual page. In other words page 7, in this example would nevber show up on the top left corner since it no longer exists. Or to put it in other words, what is on top must equal the actual page number on the document at all tiimes, and preferable do this automatically each time a page is deleted (which I do often, quite often)

I am trying to clear my browser history of sites with shift+delete, which always worked before. However, lately when I go back to see if they really deleted it turns out they are still there. Even clearing my private data doesn't work. What to do?

I checked to see if maybe the sites were bookmarked, but they are not. At this point, no matter what I do no site I've ever visited in my browser history is being cleared. This is a recent problem however, popping up in the last few days.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
