How to restore previous session using the control panel

I have tried all pathways through firefox with no results. There is a way to restore previous session using the control panel. I tried it before and it worked but I forgot to write down the pathway and lost this method. Does anyone know it?
thank you

I can't think of anything useful in the Windows Control Panel, but perhaps you were using the System Restore feature? As a shortcut for that, you could try the Previous Versions tab of the Properties dialog for sessionstore.js or sessionstore.bak.
First, I recommend backing up your current sessionstore files.
Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
Leaving that window open, switch back to Firefox and Exit
Copy sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak to a safe location (e.g., Documents folder). If you cannot see those file extensions, try this Microsoft support article: [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/865219].
Then right-click sessionstore.js, click the Previous Versions tab, and see what is available.

  • I am trying to download the newest Itunes to windows 7. I did have a previous version that I used the control panel to delete. When I click on download, I get a small partial window in the upper left corner showing Internet Explorer Cannot Display the Web

I did have a previous version of Itunes and Quicktime that I used the control panel Uninstall to remove. When I do the download, I get a small window in the upper left saying Internet Explorer Cannot Display Webpage. It is trying to get to ....itunes64setup.  I did check to see that all old Apple directorories, etc have been delete. Help!

Okay. Let's see if you've acquired some kind of restriction for the download site. These settings checks/changes apply to the IE downloads, so we'll be trying to use IE again.
Head into your Internet Options control panel, and click the Security tab. Click Restricted Sites.
Check to see if the following website is listed as a restricted site:
    appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net
If it is, remove it from your list of restricted sites and try another download.
If still no joy, head back into the security tab of the Internet Options control panel. Click Trusted Sites this time. Click the "Sites" button.
Add appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net as a trusted site. Uncheck the "Require server verification" box. Now click OK and try another download.

  • How do I delete or remove Hotspotshield completely from Firefox? I already deleted it using the control panel programs & features function.

I tried to delete Hotspot shield using the control panel function. Now it keeps showing up when ever I am using Firefox. I tried deleting the tool bar for it. But, it keeps coming back. it will show up on different accounts when I change pages. Like when I log onto the Telus account to pay bill.
So how do I get this removed from my computer completely?

Despite my best efforts, I am unable to remove iTunes 11.1.4 from my PC, this being made necessary because the original installation had a flaw and did not load properly. Effor to use the control panel, deleting dll. files, etc. all failed. And, of course, on startup, a window opens with the error and tells me find QTMovie.dll and delete it because this may be the source of the hangup. Also, in trying to delete iTunes, I get the additional message that I must get approval from the System Administrator to take this action. I am the System Administrator.
    Any ideas would be welcomed.
    Thank you.

  • Firefox will not restore previous session in the same window?

    Hello,
Every time I open Firefox and click the restore previous session button at the bottom nothing happens. That's the first part of the problem. Next, when I click on my history and click restore previous session, it does so but opens them all in a new window. It was only 3-4 days ago that this started happening. I would like to change what ever is causing this back to how it was as it is quite annoying when I have pinned tabs and I have to keep re-pinning them.
I am running the Developer version of Firefox.
    Thank you.

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).
'''If Firefox is open,''' you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
    * Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]], click Help [[Image:Help-29]] and select ''Restart with Add-ons Disabled''.
'''If Firefox is not running,''' you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
    * On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac: Hold the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run ''firefox -safe-mode'' <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to find the cause.
''To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''

  • How to restore previous session (with sync on)

My lights went out and after restart Firefox lost my previous session. "Restore previous session" option is greyed out. I had Sync on at all times, would this help? This pc is my only synced device, though.
This is, like, the fifth time Firefox screwed up my previous session. Seriously, you guys.

    averagefailguy,
Hey, no need to be rude.
    Your question was:
<blockquote> I had Sync on at all times, would this help? This pc is my only synced device, though. </blockquote>
As the-edmeister pointed out, no, you can't. If Firefox closed improperly or was forced to shut down due to a power outage, Sync probably wouldn't have synced it over and if it did, it was likely corrupt.
<s>You said Firefox crashed? There may be some crash reports left over to see what caused the crash</s><br>
<b>EDIT: Forgot Firefox didn't crash but force closed.</b>

  • How to pass argument to the Java Plugin JVM w/o using the Control Panel?

I want to deploy an applet to be loaded by the Java Plug In
and fix some settings of its Java Virtual Machine.
The JPI Control Panel offers two ways to pass arguments to the JVM,
    none satisfactory.
    1. while interactive via the Control Panel Window.
This cannot be a solution for a deployed applet.
    or
    2. by editing the system generated file that stores
the settings of the Plugin Control Panel, using a property
    named javaplugin.jre.params.
The problem with this method is that if forces to access
and edit this property file which is stored at various locations
depending the client platform. Then, it may collide with other
    settings for other applets.
Is there a way to pass the arguments to the JVM
    from within the html file?
Has anyone found a solution to this question?
    JPS

I am interested in this issue as well.
Did anyone find a reliable way to specify the runtime parameters that should be used by the Java Plug-in in order to execute a given Java applet?
I believe a good place to specify these runtime parameters would be the applet's JAR manifest: only digitally signed applets should be able to set the desired runtime parameters...
Any comments / suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Marco.

  • Cannot uninstall Mozilla Firefox 4.0.1, downloaded two days back using the control panel or the Revo Uninstaller.

I had downloaded Mozilla Firefox 2 days back, overriding the existing version 3.6.13.
But I find the new version rather unusable. I am very familiar with the FF 3.6 version, which I have been using over 2 years. Hence I would like to revert back to the earlier version 3.6.13.
Mozilla Help informed that I should first uninstall version 4.x and then reinstall the earlier version.''But I am unable to find the version 4.x, either through the Control Panel or through the program Revo Unistaller'''. '''How can I proceed to restore back the earlier version 3.6?'''

    '''@jef001 :'''
Thanks for your helpful answer. However, now after a few trials and errors in using FF 4.0.1, I have got the hang of using the same fairly well and I shall continue with the same .
    '''@Editor:'''
Thanks for your comments . I think that my wording in the question has caused some ambiguity. Actually, I updated using the Mozilla FF Help menu only. I was trying to '''uninstall''' the new version using the Revo Uninstaller, as I did not find the FF 4.0.1 in the Windows Uninstall List, and not '''installing''' it through Revo Uninstaller. However, my above reply to jef001, should clear up the issue of my continuing with FF 4.0.1 .

I need help downloading itunes on two vista 32 bit computers

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

  • How do i remove itunes from the control panel?

    Hi all,
i have spent the past few weeks browsing these forums and others trying to find a solution to my problem. I am trying to remove all traces of the itunes program off my computer so that i can download the new copy. I have tried uninstalling itunes, bonjour, apple mobile support, quicktime, apple software update and apple application support and all but the itunes successfully uninstalled, i deleted the program files off my (C:) drive including the itunes program files but itunes still comes up in my control panel and when i click uninstall the uninstaller window pops up and says "preparing to remove" but then nothing happens, and when i click repair it says "preparing to install" but once again nothing happens, i have tried disabling all firewalls and antivirus and running the iTunesSetup.exe as an administrator but the same window pops up and says "errors occured during installation before itunes could be configured."
Someone please help me to solve this?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • My FF crashes many a times and the last opened tabs are not restored. The Restore Previous Session under the history tab is greyed out and the the Session restore button on about:home is not there and im using FF 8.0.1

No really good reason, but I'll install it back someday

You can manually remove Firefox by deleting its files and folders, for details see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_Firefox

  • My browser won't remember my tabs, even using restore previous session;how do I fix this?

Opening the browser, it goes straight to my home page even though it's set to open the previous session, the restore previous session in the history menu is greyed out. I cannot even look in recent tabs or windows because those are empty too.

My settings have been set to reopen tabs from previous session. y privacy is set to remember history, and the browser remembers site history just fine. The browser simply loses my tabs.

  • The Firefox about:home page always shows "Restore Previous Session" and opens random things even after a clean exit.

I don't like anything opening automatically when I start Firefox, so before Firefox 4 I set Firefox to open a blank page when it starts. I still had set a page I visit frequently as my home page, so I could get to that page quickly by pressing the home button. If I needed to close Firefox it was nice and easy to have the option to save my session and close (I've already searched and read another post and answer on how to restore this feature in about:config). I understand that Firefox 4 always saves your session and you can restore it from the history menu, but then I would have to remember if I had anything open and click menu/History/Restore Previous Session.
Now in Firefox 4 I have left the home page set to about:home so if I had tabs open when I closed it I would see the Restore Previous Session "button" the next time I start it. However, when I close all windows and tabs before exiting Firefox, the Restore Previous Session "button" will be sometimes be there. If I click it, it will open a random tab or window that I visited the previous day, which was NOT the last tab/window that I had open.
If I do have tabs open when I close it, it does correctly re-open them when using the Restore Previous Session button, it only does this if I do a clean exit (close all tabs/windows before close).
I tried deleting the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files from my Firefox appdata directory (there were no other sessionstore.* files). This is a clean install of Firefox 4, I didn't install on top of Firefox 3.6.xx. I uninstalled Firefox 3.6.xx before installing and made sure to delete any leftover files in my appdata, programdata and program files directories.

I thought about that before and tried it, and it doesn't seem to make a difference. I did it just now, I opened a blank tab and closed everything else, waited a minute then closed Firefox. I waited another minute and launched Firefox. The Restore Previous Session box was there on about:home. I clicked it and it opened a new window with about:home in it.

  • I can't uninstall Firefox(3.6.3) either through the control panel or by going to Program files/Mozilla Firefox/Uninstall and running the helper.exe, I have Windows 7 Home Premium(64bit)

I simply want to uninstall Mozilla FireFox 3.6.3. I tried both recommendations of using the control panel to add/remove program and running the helper.exe in Program Files/Mozilla FireFox/uninstall. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium Edition(64bit). When I tried to remove it using the add/remove program and helper.exe all it does is start for a split second(mouse pointer turns into circular loading icon) and then it stops.

    Hi Guys,
    I had this same problem too, and i want to share to all of you my own fix for this kind of problem;
(READ FIRST: ''This step will wipeout everything that mozilla saved on your computer including : password, history and bookmarks''.)'''
    '''1. download the Revo Uninstaller''''''
    - quick step guide for this:
select mozilla firefox, don't forget to uninstall everything that relates to mozilla including registry to clean them all up.
    '''2. download mozilla firefox again'''
    - AND REINSTALL. however on this stage, in some cases mozilla will not open at this stage.
'''3. Uninstall Mozilla firefox again NOW using control panel.'''
'''4. Restart the computer to refresh everything.'''
'''5. Reinstall mozilla firefox again, once you have received the prompt for "exporting or importing etc.. etc.. from Microsoft" that means its already working.. it will take around 5-10 sec to load up (in my case) .'''
