How to restore rejected images?

How do I restore images in Aperture that were accidently rejected during upload.   I can not seem to re load either.   They are in a folder but inactive

Assuming they were successfully imported:  Filter the Browser for "Rejected".  Select them.  Change the rating to something else.
If they weren't successfully imported, import them.

    Hi,
It may be that you have inadvertantly wiped the Recovery Partition D when sanitising the drive, or it may have become corrupt.  Either way, you best option is to reinstall the OS using recovery discs as these will also re-create the Recovery Partition on the HDD.
You can order a replacement set of Recovery Discs using the link below.

  • No "install later" option in bootcamp? how to restore winclone image?, no "install later" option in bootcamp? how to restore winclone image?

I have created an image of my windows partition using winclone 2.2 and got an image out of it already. But the problem now is when I wanna start it up and create a new partition using bootcamp, there seem to be no "install later" option and I have to put the disk straight away. How can I restore the winclone image? Plesae help me I need it. Its really urgent. Any sort of help would me appreciated.i

From what I recall about Winclone, it requires you to have the destination partition already formatted (usually NTFS for Windows).  To get that on a Mac, you would need to run the BootCamp Assistant, create the partition, then run the WIndows installed to get to the point of copying files to the new partition, then you can cancel the install.  IIRC, the Windows install process doesn't commit the partition changes until you start to copy files to the new partition, so sopping any time before that may not leave your partition in the state you need for the restore anyway....

  • How to Restore disk image to smaller image?

    Hi there;
Not entirely sure if this is where this question needs to be posted.
I'm in a little bit of a pickle. I purchased a Imac g5 1.6 ghz (2004) and want to install Leopard (10.5) on it.
I have a DMG copy of the installer but my problem was that the file is too large to be burned on a single layer DVD (i know I can burn it on a DL DVD, but I don't want to buy a pack of 5 DVD's and only need One). So I used disk utility and created a sparse image (8.7GB) and restore the DMG to that image. I stripped all the unneccessary files (languages and printer drivers). then I went back to create a 4.7 GB sparse disk image to restore the newly formatted DMG, but It still says that there is not enough space on the disk, when my Image is 4.7GB and the image is 4.45 GB.
My understanding is that even though i'm only using 4.45GB it still shows as the original 8.7GB.
I'm currently running OSX 10.7.4 (lion) on my macbook pro and disk utility wont let me complete the task I have at hand.
I'm new to this so could someone help me?

    You can get
    1. Snow Leopard - http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    2. Mountain Lion - http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6377Z/A/os-x-mountain-lion
    3. Lion - http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6106Z/A/os-x-lion
You can get Mavericks and Yosemite from the App Store.

  • [SOLVED] How to restore kernel image after wrong /etc/mkinitcpio.conf

I wanted to learn a bit more about the kernel and boot, and I'm afraid I cannot start up my ArchLinux anymore.
I updated the /etc/mkinitcpio.conf to make the boot faster (with this reference: http://kmandla.wordpress.com/2007/01/30 … initcpio/) and executed #mkinitcpio -p kernel26
I thought that if there was any problem, I could start up with the "fallback image". Certainly, there was a problem (probably I didn´t loaded all the modules required) and when I tried the fallback image, I experimented the same problem:
    Root device '/dev/disk/by-uuid/...' doesn´t exist
    ramfs$
In fact, both images are the same (or at least they have the same size)
I tried the ArchLinux liveCD to recover my system. There's no recovery service, so I started up the CD-ROM, mounted my ArchLinux partitions, generated the images and copied into the /boot of my Archlinux partitions. But the same problem is still there.
What could I do to fix it?
    Thank you in advance

Thank you. I follow your instructions and it worked (perhaps it would be simpler with a "#pacman -Sy kernel26"). I didn't know the command chroot and it's really interesting.

    mount -t proc proc /mnt/proc
    mount -t sysfs sys /mnt/sys
    mount -o bind /dev /mnt/dev
    chroot /mnt /bin/bash
    mkinitcpio -p kernel26

  • How to restore saved image to my SAS drive

    Hi all,
I'm sure this has been discussed before but I haven't found an applicable thread yet.
I have Windows 7 Pro on a Thinkstation S20 with a SAS drive (not a SATA drive).  I am unable to restore my drive with my backup because the SAS drive is not detected.  What is the solution for this?  Any help is much appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Ok, I found this (from you, when you helped someone else) and it worked!  Woohoo!
    1.  Download CDSAS09WS17.exe from the Lenovo site.  For your case, I would download it again and start completely fresh.  I downloaded directly to a USB key, and then ran the .exe from the key and extracted the contents to a folder on the key.
    2.  Boot your system to the win7 install disc, run through the prompts (make sure you're not choosing upgrade).
    3.  When you get to the drive selection screen, click "load driver".
    4.  Point windows to where you extraced the Marvell driver files on your key.  Note that for 64 bit you should point it to the "amd64" folder.  Click OK.
    5.  Allow windows to load the driver.  Once it's done, it should come up with mv64xx.inf file.  Make sure the "hide devices that are not compatible with this HW is checked".  This way only a single driver should show.  Click OK.
    6.  Let windows install the driver.  Your drives should now be accessible.

  • How do I restore all images in a collection to original imported aspect ratio?

Typically I select all images in a catalog, resize the first image to 640x480.  I then right click on the first image (all images are still selected) click on Develop Settings, Sync and choose to sync only the aspect ratio.  All images are then cropped to 640x480 like the first image, which I then export to a folder.
I then need to restore all images to the original aspect ratio for building a slideshow to export to my website.  I've followed the same procedure i.e. selected all images, click on the first image, change aspect to original, right click on first image and sync aspect ratio for all images.
The problem is that the rest of the images do not return to their original aspect ratio but revert to 4x6 aspect ratio instead of the original size when imported.  I've changed the lock to unlocked and tried both but still no result.  Now I have to select each image individually, open the crop dialog and choose custom to get it back to the imported aspect ratio.
How do I batch restore all images in a collection to the aspect ratio when imported?

Rotating an image is adjusting its crop rotation and crop size.  You originally said you wanted things back to import state which presumably was full resolution w/o any adjustments to ratio, size, or rotation.  If you are wanting to do things in the middle of your other processing I'm less sure what to tell you.
Taking a crop that you have at 3:2 and setting it to 4:3 shrinks in the longer sides, and resetting the ratio to 3:2 shrinks down the shorter top and bottom--this is how it always works, because a crop box is not ever expanded by setting the ratio to something different, and changing the ratio back and forth like that makes the crop-box smaller and smaller.
Are you having an issue because you want to fiddle with the crop in the middle of other processing every time, or is this a special case because you've moved on in your processing after asking your question some time ago?
If you routinely need to do this, an easier way might be to export the images at the 3:2 crop, then reimport those JPGs, change the crop on those JPGs, only, then re-export them a second time, and be done with them.  This sounds like you're making proofs?
If you are making proof-sized images at a different ratio?  Why not just export the 3:2 images at a smallish size, perhaps with a watermark and not have to worry about making them 4:3 ratio?
Another alternative would be to print the images to JPGs instead of a printer, and set the paper size to a 4:3 ratio and turn on the Fill option--which will chop of the long sides automatically as it prints them.

You have a few choices here
    1. The "m" key will show you the master image without adjustments, not remove them;
    2. Right click an image and using the contextual menu, select reset all adjustments, removes them;
    3. Same menu, create new version, allows you to have multiple versions each with unique adjustments, B&W, cropping etc.

  • How best to back up Rejected images

    Hi,
I am about to back up using a Vault but I have a lot of rejected images that are taking up disk space. What are others doing with their rejected images, do you delete them after vaulting?
    Thanks--Ed

It may depend on what kind of rating you use. Some may reject images that are not good but may come to use some time in the future, while others rate images in a different way. As i can only speak for myself, I use a system where rejected images are those that are totally useless and therefore I see no reason to keep them just to occupy valuable hd space.
I have set up a smart album that shows only rejected images and I empty this album on a weekly basis, keeping the library nice and clean.
I also only have referenced images so I do not use the Vault for backing them up.

My macbook pro's screen display has suddenly gone into a strange colour setting where everything appears in a kind of infrared colour palette an I can;t seem to change it back.  It's the same for all icon and websites, does anyone know how to restore?

Wow!  I think I had this same issue just last night.
I was cleaning my macbook pro retina on the outside.  Then I opened it up and was wiping dust off the monitor and I can't pinpoint exactly when, but the colors changed suddenly.  It looked super strange, it was like green halo's and it looked worse when looking at it at an angle.  Of course I took no pictures!!!  I was freaking out that my 2 grand laptop was busted and I somehow removed a protective film or something.
But I digress...  The image looked very green and spacey, it was almost a neat effect.  After about 5 minutes it started to look a little more digital though.  There were straight lines of this halo effect on the edges and top.  After about 10 minutes it turned into a predominate issue with the blacks on screen.  I could open a web browser and it was unnoticable on a white background.  After about 15 minutes, you could only barely see the green cloud effect if you looked at the monitor from an extreme angle.  After about 20 minutes, it was completely back to normal, I almost feel paranoid like I see a halo or something strange.  But I believe that might be all in my head now.
So yerp, lemme know what you guys figure out.

  • How to restore after disk replacement?

l just had my iMac hard disk replaced due a recall.  Before taking it in I made a disk image with disk Utility and securely erased the disk.  I also have Time Machine back-ups going back several months.  On getting the machine back, since it contains sensitive data securely erased the new hard disk and started up with the Snow Leopard boot disk.  When I tried to scan the disk for reinstall I get an error "Unable to scan 'image name' (internal error)".  I tried several times with the same result.  I then tried to restore from Time Machine and got a message that No Mac OS X backups were found."
I installed Snow Leopard and again tried both approaches with the same result.  I can see to Time Machine backups on the disk but when I restore it simply copies the files into "/Volumes.  Anyone have ideas on how to restore the system?

    Rodocki wrote:
The disk image did not.  Not sure what's wrong with the disk image burn and restore process but it is clearly not dependable.
Unless you tested and restored it after making it, it's a poor choice, since it requires three volumes: the boot volume, source volume, and a destination volume. A bootable backup/clone made with Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper! is a much better choice. BTW, it's also significantly faster to restore one of these than it is to restore a disk image.

  • Lightroom - how to restore backed up files (not Lightroom catalogue) from one external drive to another?

How to restore backed up files (not lightroom catalogue) from one external drive to another.
I recently backuped my photo files from one external drive to another. The backup (carbon copy cloner) pointed to some corrupt files on the original drive.
I have deleted those files and am finding good copies of them  in Time Machine backups.
I want to get rid of the original external drive; use the recent backup as my main external and then back it up onto a brand new drive.
What I am not sure about is how to point lightroom to the backups so it knows to look on the new drive instead of the old drive and all those exclamation marks and question marks go away.
There are close to 60,000 images in numerous folders all with one 'parent folder.'
My best guess is from Lightroom Help - Create and Manage Folders -  Locate Missing Folders
Can I point to the one parent folder and all the subfolders will come back?
Is this the process to recover files into lightroom and will there be a problem with so many photos?
