How to restore/reset downloads to default to open pdf forms in preview instead of adobe?

I downloaded Adobe Reader 11 yesterday in order to view my electronic university transcripts.  In the course of installing, ALL pdf files on my hard-drive were converted to adobe pdf files and will not open with preview.  I don't mind keeping the one document an adobe pdf since it had special security enhancements, and I was unable to view without it, but how do I restore the rest of my pdfs to open with preview?  How do I change the default setting so that new downloaded pdfs will open with preview, NOT adobe?  I do NOT want all of my pdf files to be in adobe format.

I do not understand: PDF files are Adobe PDF files, there are no other PDF files.
Or is it the file association you are worried about?

  • In Safari how do I open a .PDF file in Preview instead of Adobe Reader?

When a pdf file opens on my computer in Safari, it opens with Adobe Reader (v. 7.0.8). Until recently, I could right-click on my mouse and and a drop-down menu would appear with the option to open the pdf file in Preview instead of Adobe. That option has now disappeared from the drop-down menu. Can anyone explain how to get back the menu option to open the pdf file in Preview? Thanks. David

My computer automatically open PDF inside the Safari
window, but I wish it would go back to opening it
externally via Adobe. (maybe we should trade
    computers:-)
Anyway, we have the same question.
How do we control whether PDF launches internal to
    Safari, or external in Adobe?
This is what I would like to as well. I often have a lot of pdf files I need to open and then save to my hard drive. When I click on a pdf file on a website Safari opens it and then I need to right click in the document to open it with Adobe. How can I get it to open in Adobe the first time without having to right click after it opens in Safari?
    Thanks!

  • My Mac is opening my doc in preview instead of Adobe. I loaded the latest version. It still opens in preview and I get a blank page even though the doc is there. How do I handle this?

How do I open a doc in adobe instead of preview?   Three Imac people in a group all having the same problem. I was told to download the latest Adobe, which I did. I still cant view the document even though I downloaded it to read it. It keeps opening in Preview and shows up blank. Help!

Right click on the document and select Open with-Adobe Acrobat. Or right click on the document and select get info, go to the open with drop down menu and select Acrobat. If you want all documents of that type to open with Acrobat check the box.

What do you mean by dynamically? When yo set up a 2D bar code field you specify which field name/value pairs you want to include, along with other parameters. But be aware that they won't work with Reader unless you Reader-enable the document with LiveCycle Reader Extensions and include the bar code usage right. It will work with Acrobat Standard/Pro.

  • How do I enable a LiveCycle PDF form to be saved in Adobe Reader?

I have an interactive PDF form that I created in LiveCycle. However, when it is opened with Adobe Reader, the user is unable to save it. They can only print from Reader. How do I enable the LiveCycle PDF form to be saved in Adobe Reader?

You have to add save rights with Acrobat.
Open you form in Acrobat and then save it via File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools.

  • How to make a pdf (form) accessible for reader in Adobe Acrobat x pro?

Hi guys, i have bit of a problem here as i am new to the Acrobat pro X
Using Acrobat pro 9 i always could save a LiveCycle pdf form with permission to fill and save as a reader user. now i have upgraded to cs6 and i have no clue how to do that anymore. The half of the options are gone and i can't access the older Acrobat pro anymore.
Does anyone know how to save a pdf form using Acrobat X for adobe reader users giving permission to read and save my pdf files?

For Acrobat X go to File-> Save as->Reader Extended PDF
This will embed the reader extended rights in PDF.

No.  I am able to use the other features such as underlining, highlighting, adding rectangles and oval and save those changes.

I cannot believe the quality of the Acrobat X tutorials. Why can’t they be like the ones for CS.  Some balloon text boxes flash by so fast they cannot be read, timing is also an issue for other balloons.

  • How to restore/reset Snow leapord(10.6.8) on macbook pro, no DVD

    Hi,
I want to restore/reset Snow leopard (10.6.8) on MacBook pro to factory settings. I don't have installation DVD.
Reason for restoring/resetting, I purchased used MacBook pro. I never used MAC before, always used Windows.
I did not realize while purchasing it, I will need installation DVD. I want to clean up previous user setting and preferences. I am using MAC first time, so be on safe side want to get rid of, if any remote access to my MacBook, data sharing or anything like this.
I don't want to buy installation DVD from apple.
Is there a way to make bootable USB from current installation?
If I cannot make bootable USB, what settings/preferences I need to clean up for achieving my safety concern?
Please suggest me solution for above mentioned questions or any other solution.
    Thanks.

    No.
On Linux that can be done, but not OS X, no program that I know of exists, but it would certainly be welcome, but Apple would likely sue them.
I did not realize while purchasing it, I will need installation DVD.
The original 10.6 machine specific disks should have came with the used machine, contact the original owner.

You will need to securely wipe the entire drive to accomplish this and you will need to boot from the 10.6 install disk.
Software can lie to you, so if it says one thing it still might be open and exposing you to intrusions.
I don't want to buy installation DVD from apple.
You'll need the 10.6.4-10.6.8 disk and if the machine originally came with 10.6.3 or later then you will need to contact Apple to get machine specific versions of the disks as those are not sold online, except if your lucky and find a used one for that exact model of Mac on eBay or something.
Intel Mac's that originally came with 10.4-10.6.2 from the factory can use the white 10.6.3 retail disks (sans free iLife), you can purchase from Apple or on Amazon.com or elsewhere.
If your interested in not installing malware, then don't use the illegal copies on P2P networks.
To find out what OS X version came with the machine, use the free MacTracker, also these links

  • HT2506 how do you set Preview as the default for opening pdf in browser?

How do I set the Preview application to be the default for viewing PDF's in while in Safari?  Previously, while in Safari and clicking on links to PDF's, they would display with buttons on the bottom that made it simple to view and download the PDF.  Since updating Adobe Reader it seems Reader is now the default application for viewing PDF's accessed from the internet.  I haven't been able to figure out how to revert back to Preview.....

I did this and now Safari won't open the form at all.
I put the files back and it opens in Adobe.
When I save the files to desktop they open in Preview. But I am trying to read pdf's(? forms) while in Safari.
Adobe does not work smoothly in Safari and scrolling to read is a nightmare.
    OS X 10.8.5
This problem came up within the last few months.
Before everything opened in Preview perfectly.

  • How can I make CS4 the default for opening?

Help! I have most versions of PS but I prefer CS4. I am a photographer. Forever CS4 was the default when opening photos. Something happened yesterday and now when I double click on a photo to open it it opens but not in CS4. Not sure what version it's opening in. But I want it to open in 4. I can right click each and every time to open in 4 but I open tons of photos all day long and that takes too long. How can I again make it so that CS4 is the default?
    Thank you.

Thanks. I couldn't figure out what you meant.
What does CMD I stand for?
If I right click on a file I can open in CS4 but there's no 'change all' there, just option of opening in CS4 or something else.
I open RAW files. Then later I open jpg files. I think they are opening in CS4 as RAW (not sure) but the jpgs are not. If I right click it says CS6 is the default -- first one listed and has (default) next to it.
