How to restore standby from primary after failover.

HI we have a dr setup but the standby is provided archives through an application not the datagaurd.
So for applying application patch I cant switchover the database.
I have to shutdown the primary database and apply failover to the standby database to apply patch.
Can you please tell how can I restore my standby database to actual primary after failover.
As our actual activity will be in 2 weeks time. We want to apply patch on saturday.
DR DRILL is on 8th nov.

Your earlier statement "Can you please tell how can I restore my standby database to actual primary after failover"
means something different from "SO have to restore from cold backup of primary database"
What you seem to want is a procedure to recreate the Standby from a Backup of the Pirmary. (ie FROM Primary TO Standby).
You haven't specified your Oracle Version. DG has been available since 9i (was even backported to 8i) but I will presume that you are using 9i
You should follow the same process as used for the first creation of the standby, except that you don't have to repeat some of the setup steps (listener, tnsnames etc)

Go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings.  This will erase your phone.  Then you will go through the setup screens again as you did when your phone is new, and when given the option, select Restore from iCloud Backup.

  • How to restore files from Time Machine after Clean Install of Mavericks

How to restore files from Time Machine after Clean Install of Mavericks. I know the data is there but seems unaccessable because I may have changed the Computer or Owner name. Is there any way to fix that now?

    Hi Linc,
my back-up data is managed by Time Machine; the actual data is on a second internal Hard Drive with a capacity of 1TB - not partitioned. I am using Time Machine and have access to all data backed up since Mavericks Clean Install but not the data prior to this date.
When I open the 1TB drive in Finder I can see a folder "Backups.backupdb/Sigi's Mac Pro/ followed by many folders of backup dates going back to 2010-09-20-103441 and up to 2014-02-07-142414 all followed with folder Macintosh HD.  February 7th  2014 was the date of the clean install.
These Backups are followed by backup date folder 2014-02-08-075554 with a subfolder of MacPro-320GB (this is the name I assigned to my Boot Drive during formatting; I suspect I should have assigned the same name as before ie. Macintosh HD) and 2014-02-11 with a subfolder Macintosh HD, these are the ones I get access to by way of Time Machine > Restore.
Weird thing is on Febr 11 when I relised my possible mistake and renamed the Bootdrive back to what it was initially ie. Macintosh HD despite this I have access to all backup data since the Clean Install in both folders MacPro-320GB as well as Macintosh HD but not to any data prior to the Clean Install.
Is there something that Time Machine knows and prevents access or is it simply a matter of renaming the subfolder 2014-02-08-07554/MacPro-320GB to ........./Macintosh HD?
I like to restore selectively and not everything - It was hard work reinstalling apps that were supposed to be the troublemakers (ref my discussion on Maverick problems) but I now need to get onto data specific to some of these apps as well as other data I may have missed. Long story? Yes and sorry.

    Thanks Eric,
After inserting the original DVD I installed OSX and after reboot I had a working computer.
There was no opportunity to restore the TM backup. however when I rebooted from the
DVD again I saw that possibility from a menu of the install utility.
I ran through the restore over night (8 hours) and when I woke up, I had my computer back!
    Thanks for helping me out.

  • How to restore views and procedures after drop user command?

How to restore views and procedures after drop user command?
We have 817 EE on NT and one developer created a lot of procedures, functions and vews. DB was not backuped and archived and export has not been done - our fault and we understand it. Sorry for this.
Ok, now the story: another developer dropped this db user and we lost everything: procedures, functions and vews. The new user with trhe same name was created and new schema was imported in this user, but all old objects are lost. We don't have export and backup and archive log files.
Question: may we can restore this lost stuff from some other sources. We are looking for lost codes, not data. May be we can use redo logs or shared pool or any other things. Any idea will be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Victor
    [email protected]

The switch has occurred after user was dropped, the data has been overwritten and there is be no way to use redo log files.
I would like to explore another opportunity. Is possible to use Shared Pool or any Data Dictionary internal information to restore texts of the lost SQL and PL/SQL scripts executed in this DB before user was dropped? Not too many scripts are executed in this DB and the lost ones may still be in stack. I remember that Shared Pool (cash) should keep last executed scripts in order to improve performance. They probably are kept in some special format. Can we restore these scripts? Of course they also might be pushed out by Import that had been done after user was dropped.
    Thanks for your help,
    Victor

How to restore Data from past iCloud backup?
Is there a way where i can retrieve my spreadsheets from the past iCloud backup of numbers?

Your Numbers documents were synced with iCloud so they would be stored on the server rather than being included in the backup.  If you were signed into your iCloud account on a Mac that you were backing up with Time Machine, you could restore them from your Time Machine backup.

I rebooted my ipod touch how can i restore my back up files

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Rebooting your device is not the same as restoring it, to restore a device go to settings > general > reset > erase all contents and settings. Once you do this you will then be given the option to restore it from a backup or as a new iPod.

  • How to Restore/Boot from Mavericks

    Greetings,
I work at an elementary school and am trying to use Diskmaker X to create a bootable drive in order to restore a .dmg volume that I created in our lab. I created a Mavericks installer on both a 16GB USB thumb drive, as well as installing it on a 200GB partition of a TB drive.
    Here's the steps I'm following:
    1. Boot from Diskmaker Mavericks Installer (tried using both the USB Thumb drive and TB drive versions)
Restart holding down OPTION button, choose Mavericks installer
    2. Open Disk Utility
    3. Choose "Macintosh HD" on left sidebar> RESTORE
    4. Choose/navigage to the .dmg image I created as "Source" (called "Mavericks Feb 2014.dmg", which is 16GB in size). This source .dmg is on a partition of the same external HD as the Mavericks installer I created with DiskMaker. I've also tried using my 16GB USB thumb drive with Mavericks DiskImage installer on it, and the source .dmg from a different external drive.
    5. Choose/drag "Macintosh HD" as destination
"Erase "Macintosh HD" and copy the contents of "Mavericks Feb 2014.dmg" to it
    6. Click RESTORE and click ERASE after being prompted "Are you sure you want to erase and restore?"
    7. Receive error: "RESTORE FAILURE - Not enough space on /dev/disk0s2 to restore"
Any ideas why this is happening? Can you help? I am trying to "clone" computers in my lab to an image I created that contains all the apps, settings, etc. that I want for students to use. The process worked just fine on our new iMacs (the ones that do not have an optical drive) but the older iMacs fail to restore the image. When I tried inserting a Snow Leopard Install DVD the iMac just spits it out before I can boot to it, which is how I discovered the DiskMaker app.
    iMac Specs:
    OSX 10.9.1
Processor: 2 GHz Intel Core Duo
    Memory: 2 GB
    HD: 160GB
I hope my question makes sense.
Thanks for any help or guidance you can provide.
    Joel Solomon

I figured it out. I was using a clone from a newer iMac and was trying to
restore the dmg to an older iMac. Somehow the processor and other things
weren¹t compatible between iMacs. I wound up making a 2nd .dmg clone from
the older iMac, and now it's working!
