How to restore the languages in the input sources under 'Language and Text'

Dear all,
Recently, I am trying to free up my disk space on my macbook and I downloaded this software call Monolingual. Basically, it removes languages that you do not use to free up the disk space.
However, I accidentally remove the language that I use which is Japanese and now it seems like I cannot find it anywhere under the input sources of language and text.
Does anybody know how I can restore everything back to normal?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Alfred

I think you will have to reinstall your OS.    If you are running Yosemite, see
OS X Yosemite: Reinstall OS X
Best to avoid Monolingual and simlar "cleaning" utilties if possible, it is too easy to make mistakes that destroy parts of you system.
Your problem has nothing to do with your hardware, so in the futue it would be best to use the software forums for similar questions:

    Hi,
What is the table you want to restore?
Using export/import is supported with Oracle Apps database (for full database exp/imp, and certain schemas like custom ones). For the Apps schema, I believe it is not supported due to object dependencies and integrity constraints.

  • How can I remove the entire group "On My iPhone" under contact and notes?

I am using iCloud to sync my contact and notes. It's pretty good right now since it can maintain a signle copy of each without duplicate entries.
However, the outstanding issue is that I want to remove the entire group "On My iPhone" under contact and notes as a lot of duplicates inside there.
How can I do that? Or de-duplicateing the entries there is also fine.  Thanks.

I found a solution for this by using iCloud and iTunes. It is applicable to Mac users.
    For Contacts
    1. Make a source copy of contacts without any duplication in iCloud contact.
    2. Remove any groups in Address Book in your Mac, so that the number of contacts in iCloud is equal to that in All Contacts in Address Book.
    3. Launch iTunes. Connect your iOS device. Go to Summary tab. Mark "Back up to iCloud" button
    4. Go to Info tab, Click "Sync Address Book Contact" and then select "All contact"
    5. Check "Contacts" under "Replace information on this iPhone" at the bottom.
    6. Click "Apply" button at the bottom of the iTunes.
Your iOS device will be replaced with the "Contacts" from Address Book with "On My Mac" group, which contains zero contacts records.
    7. Uncheck "Sync Address Book Contact" again. A dialog box appears, stating that iTunes will no longer sync contacts to your iOS device. Click "Remove contacts" button in the dialog box.
    8. Click "Apply" button at the bottom of the iTunes.
    9. After sync, you will get a "All on My iPhone" group on your iOS device with zero contacts, one All Contacts showing all contacts records, and the other is the "All iCloud" group containing the source copy from iCloud.
    For Notes
    1. Make sure you have a me.com account enabled in your iCloud for Mail & Notes sync
    2. Using Mail, you can move and de-duplicate the notes and make a final copy in the Notes under iCloud. Clear all notes records under other sources. e.g. On My Mac, Gmail, etc.
    3. Launch iTunes. Connect your iOS device. Go to Summary tab. Mark "Back up to iCloud" button
    4. Go to Info tab, Click "Sync notes" under Other section
    5. Check "Contacts" under "Replace information on this iPhone" at the bottom.
    6. Click "Apply" button at the bottom of the iTunes.
Your iOS device will be replaced with the "notes" from Mac with "On My Mac" group, which contains zero notes records.
    7. Uncheck "Sync notes" again. A dialog box appears, stating that iTunes will no longer sync notes to your iOS device. Click "Remove notes" button in the dialog box.
    8. Click "Apply" button at the bottom of the iTunes.
    9. After sync, you will no longer get any accounts in Notes. The only copy of Notes is from iCloud.

  • Here's how I restored my mini from the dead (Win XP)

When I installed the 1.4 updater on my iPod, it erased everything on it. Here's what I did to fix it:
    1) Uninstall the 1.4 software
    2) Disconnect the iPod from the computer, but do so safely, even if you have to reboot the computer.
    3) Reset your iPod. There are specific instructions on how to do this here(http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61705). You may have to do this several times throughout the following process. You can only perform a reset when your iPod is disconnected from your computer or other power source.
    4) Install the original software from the CD that came with your iPod. Follow the instructions to the letter. The software will format your iPod, but may come up with an error box explaining that it cannot complete the format. Click "OK" on the error box, then try the installation again. It should now say that the iPod has been formatted. Allow the installation to complete, then reboot. Leave your iPod connected to your computer during the reboot.
    5) When you are rebooted, hit "CTRLALTDEL" to bring up the task manager. Under the processes tab, end the processes "iTouch", "iPodServices" and "iTuneshelper". These are programs that prevent the updater from "locking" the iPod.
    6) Use the updater to restore your iPod to its factory settings. You may see several different error messages, including "Firmware update failure. Disk write error.", an error message telling you that the software you're trying to apply isn't the correct version for your iPod, and the "Can't lock iPod" one. Keep trying. You may need to reboot to safely disconnect your iPod from your computer in order to reset it. My advice is to perform this reset according to the directions, and to do it several times.
    7) Once your iPod is restored, reboot to disconnect it safely. The iTunes software will not recognize it immediately because you have yet to set your language preference on your iPod. Reconnect it after you are rebooted and have started iTunes. There you will be able to restore your music.
It took me a long time, a lot of frustration, and pure dumb luck to get my iPod working again. I'm no genius. I just hope that these steps might help someone else in the same predicament.
    Thanks.

"You can only perform a reset when your iPod is disconnected from your computer or other power source."
Just one small point. That statement you made is incorrect. In fact in the instructions on how to reset your iPod clearly state that if you are having difficulty resetting you should connect to power, either the a/c charger or your computer.

  • How to restore from back up when some files are corrupt and crash the restore?

    iphone 4 16gb
    IOS 5.0.1
    iTunes 10.5.3
    History:
installed iOS5 back on release date. install was interrupted, likely due to high volumes. Completed install. Initial problem noted: unable to add events to calendar. Then problem progressed to "Voice Memo" app crashing. I installed "Quick Voice" app as an alternative. Problem progressed further to an unexplained increase in "other" content on iphone. Last week I tried syncing my phone and received error message that I didn't have enough space to complete sync. Noted then that "other" content was around 5.4gb! Removed "voice memos" playlist from selected playlists to sync under music tab and noted that other content dropped to 4.5gb
Synced the phone and noticed that it appeared to move through the sync process faster than usual. Sync showed "audio" content and "other" content to be the same size at about 4.5gbs.
After sync was completed I disconnected the phone and looked at the content of my phone. No apps, No music, No photo albums! SMS texts, Notes and Contacts still all intact on phone.
Tried multiple solutions including restore to fix the problem. Each time, when the phone is plugged in and mounted in iTunes, it shows audio content at 4.5gb and other content at 4.5gbs yet the phone itself has no music, no apps and no photo albums. It does still have pictures in "camera roll", though.
After trying many suggested solutions, I gave up and went to Apple store to see the Geniuses (Genii ) They did a firmware update and reset my phone. I was advised to restore from back up. However, when I tried to restore from my back up, it would fail to complete. Unable to restore from back up and sync attempts fail.
The only data I really don't want to lose is my text message history, my notes and my voice files from "Quick Voice" app.
Restoring from back up is not an option since I believe there are corrupt files in the back up. So what I want to know is can I restore my phone as a new phone, and then re-install my text message history, notes and the sound files from the "Quick Voice" app? Perhaps using a 3rd party app to retrieve those particular files from my back up and copy them to the phone directly? Or can I create a new back up file and copy those files to the new back up file. Hopefully I would then be able to restore from the newly created back up successfully since the likely corrupt files will be in the old back up file?
All other information; apps, photos, music and contacts can be re-installed from iTunes.

    Sigh....
And it just keeps getting stranger! I just disconnected the internet and opened iTunes on my Mac. It opens just fine when disconnected from the internet. iTunes crash seems to be caused when it's trying to connect to iTunes store????
    Really need help!
    1) Why is iTunes crashing when connected to internet?
    2) If I am unable to restore from my back up due to corrupted files within the back up, how can I preserve my text messages, notes and "Quick Voice" app files?

  • How to restore my data from the blackberry protect back up archive

Hi, my phone recently crashed, so I reloaded my OS & tried restoring my data from the blackberry protect app but noticed I could only restore from my last backup. I'd like to restore from another backup point in my archive & not my last. How do I go about it?

Only backups which are displayed can be restored to your phone. If you don't see any older ones, something might have gone wrong with the backups being loaded to the site. Perhaps you have an older backup done with BlackBerry Desktop Software which you could reload?
    Cheers.

  • How to restore Address Book to the stage before running it for the 1st time

Does anyone know how to do this? Couldn't delete some groups created automatically by Address Book, so thinking of restoring it to the initial stage.

Which Groups are you trying to delete?
Some or all except the primary "All" Group?
Any error message provided when trying to do so?
To restore the Address Book to the initial stage, do the following:
With the Address Book application quit and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Application Support > AddressBook.
Move the AddressBook folder to the Desktop.
Using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.AddressBook.plist. Move the com.apple.AddressBook.plist file to the Desktop.
Launch Address Book and it should be like launching it for the first time.
I like to move all assocated files to the Desktop first so in case something goes wrong and you want to restore things as they were, you can easily do so.

  • How to restore your Library when the Music is on the iPod

Assuming you all have good intentions, sometimes we all have the problem of losing our entire Library. Luckily, the iPod is a hard drive, so recovery of music can be easy if you really know how to do it. I decided to present this information to you since this information isn't shared that often, if ever on Apple Discussions.
To start, Plug in the ipod.
Right before it starts updating in iTunes, click the eject button in the Source navigation bar.
    Then go into My Computer.
Double click on your iPod. Click the Tools tab, and then Folder Options.
In Folder options, click "view all hidden files".
    Click OK.
There should be an iPod Control hidden folder that now appears.
Theres also a music folder in there.
Double click on it and there shall be folders labeled "F" with a random number next to each of them.
Inside those F# files, all your music is there.
Go back to the Ipod Control folder.
Drag the entire music folder into your desktop.
It shall copy, and then you have all the files on your computer.
Mass drag all the music files into a visible folder.
Take the physical folder, and drag it into My Music.
Then, open iTunes and go to the File tab.
Click Add Folder, and then add your music folder.
All your music should be in your library.
Following that, deauthorize your computer, and then re-authorize any Music Store files you might have.
    I hope that helps you!!
You also could just backup all your music on blank DVDs too, if you have the right burner. That would eliminate the use of an iPod in the above process and save you some money. The third option is to buy a seperate hard drive, but why do that anyways if you can now rip the songs off your iPod?

    Katie,
While your intentions are admirable, you present opinions that are contradictory to the facts:
-- iPod recovery methods have been available on these Discussions fro quite some time. See:
Don King Resurrected, "Deleted files from hard drive" #1, 01:49am May 30, 2005 CDT
    MacMuse, "Computer Crashed" #3, 11:48pm Feb 7, 2005 CDT
-- These links, among others, are referenced by many of us here to help others several times a day,
    i if not more.
Sometimes directly, but usually by links or references to other posts.
See this as an example: Buegie, "Transferring music to new computer" #1, 10:56am Oct 25, 2005 CDT
Both MacMuse and Don King have been, and continue to assist folks who need to recover songs from their iPod onto iTunes. Both with very good step-by-step cost-free instructions. There are also many posts that direct individuals to third-party software that can do the same thing. Again - frequently posted here.
    More importantly:
i "The third option is to buy a seperate hard drive, but why do that anyways if you can now rip the songs off your iPod?"
Advocating the above is very risky. Using the iPod for your music 'backup' is very dangerous. Especially if it it your sole music repository in addition to iTunes. A true backup is one that it stored away from the primary uses of your music (this means somewhere other than the iPod or in iTunes). Many careful folks here have multiple backup files; both on DVD and external HD.
In fact, the ExHD (or second internal HD) is one of the easiest and quickest means to make a complete backup of your music files. They are extremely cheap these days and should be used by anyone who has a large Library they wish to keep safe.
Expecting the iPod to be a source of backup music is just asking for trouble:
Buegie, "Library and Ipod Question?" #1, 03:07pm Oct 9, 2005 CDT
In a perfect world, we would not need to assist folks in recovering songs from their iPod -- if they had made proper backups in the first place.
Please continue to help folks as you have. Just don't ignore or diminish the work already done by those ahead of you. A reasonable exploration of these Discussions by you would have turned up the above information and its importance.

  • How to restore Firefox windows after the restore has already been done?

    System:
    Firefox 3.6.16
    Windows Vista Business 64-bit
    Service Pack 2
    Core2 Extreme Q9300 4 x 2.53 GHz
    8 GB RAM
I had 187 Firefox windows open when Firefox crashed. I had restore on. When the window that asks which windows I want to restore appeared, I deselected a few pages that I thought might be causing problems. I've never done this before (choose not restore all the windows that were open) and Firefox has always managed to restore all my windows. But having chosen 3 out of 187 not to open, Firefox only opened 30. The rest seem to be lost. In principle I should be able to find them in my history, but I visit hundreds of pages per day and only keep open a couple until the next day. My open Firefox windows to some extent constitute my to-do list, and some have been open for months. Stupidly, I had not backed up this to-do list (with for example screen captures) and I would really like to get it back. I am not afraid of a little hacking. Is there anything I can do?
[And by the way, this is not really related to the above problem: after a while it often becomes impossible to actually open some of the Firefox windows that I have open. I probably average around 80, but range from 15 or so 150 usually. [I try to close them as I work through them with some success, so that the numbers don't just keep on increasing.] But this is not so much a problem because when click on Firefox in the task bar, I still get to see the titles of the webpages I am on and I can easily relocate them if I can't open a particular page. Yes, I do realise that the real solution to my problems would be to have less windows open, but that ill suits the way I work.]

  • How to restore a song from the "Project File Backups"

Help! I recorded onto an external harddrive, then copied all the project folders to a different drive. Now, I can't find the project files, but I can find the "Project File Backups" in the Project Folders. I suspect the original project files were saved separately from these folders on the original hard drive, but that is long gone, so I am hoping some one can tell me how to recreate the project from the files in the "Project File Backups" folder.
ANOTHER CLUE: Stranger still, I can't find any of my logic song files using FILE>OPEN, SPOTLIGHT, nor FINDER- Only those that still populate the "open recent" list.
    Any ideas? Thanks friends!

    Hi there
Your Project File Backups are simply the previous Project files you've saved. These files are essentially the strip settings, layouts, midi, and pointers to the audio files of your Project.
If you have trashed the audio files then your are outta luck. This is why you should Consolidate (File-->Project-->Consolidate) all of your projects into one Project Folder on your HD. That way all of your Audio files as well as your sample files and UltraBeat files remain consolidated within a Project Folder. You can then Copy that entire Project folder to another location and have all of the respective files for that Project.
    Sorry for your loss.

    Dear all,
I have some problem regarding to the file system restoration.
For example, I have backed up some files yesterday and today those files have been made change.
So tomorrow I am planning to restore the files from the yesterday backup (the original files before made changes) to other host for testing the data.
Is it possible to do that, since when i restore i can see only the latest ones and search options during restoration are not working well (as date, date range,.....) ?
Your reply to me is very important.

There is no recovery partition on drives which haven't had 10.7 or 10.8 installed. You need to use a Mac OS X install DVD to restore the backup.

  • How to restore previous session using the control panel

I have tried all pathways through firefox with no results. There is a way to restore previous session using the control panel. I tried it before and it worked but I forgot to write down the pathway and lost this method. Does anyone know it?
    thank you

I can't think of anything useful in the Windows Control Panel, but perhaps you were using the System Restore feature? As a shortcut for that, you could try the Previous Versions tab of the Properties dialog for sessionstore.js or sessionstore.bak.
First, I recommend backing up your current sessionstore files.
Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
Leaving that window open, switch back to Firefox and Exit
Copy sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak to a safe location (e.g., Documents folder). If you cannot see those file extensions, try this Microsoft support article: [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/865219].
Then right-click sessionstore.js, click the Previous Versions tab, and see what is available.
