How to restore the removed files back?

Recently, in order to free up space of a WD external hard drive, I have removed some files. And I remember I have backed up them on another computer drive. However, yesterday, I found that these files were all missing from this computer
drive. It was really strange.
Is it possible for me to restore these removed files back? Any idea would be appreciated.

Is there anyone that has used this computer drive before?
Perhaps, there is some one that has accidentally deleted these files.
OK! Don’t worry! In my opinion, you’d better not to use this drive right now and try to restore these files back by applying data recovery programs.
To retrieve them back, you could ask for a professional service or also download a free data recovery tool. The former way could cost a lot.
So, I suggest you to try a free data recovery program at first. There are many free data recovery programs available online, such as
Recuva, Power Data recovery and iCare Data recovery Free, etc.
Next time, you should never back up some important files only on one drive.
Thank you for your listed data recovery freeware.
Thanks a lot!

How to get your file folder organization back when you move to a new computer?

Your PSE8 is using the default, new empty catalog that's created when PSE is installed.
In Windows, search your entire computer for this file:
    catalog.pse8db
The largest one that's found will be your old catalog.  If your computer people didn't restore that catalog file (and its entire directory), ask them where the heck it is.

  • Hi, does anyone know how to restore the System Preferences back in Mavericks. I had a system failure, did a restore, and now no system prefs. It all works apart from that. Thank you

Hi, hope someone can help, I am not Mac savvy. I had a system failure for some reason, and did a complete restore from a backup drive, and now no System Preferences. I had since also had the backup disk fail, so no other backups to work from. I am currently trying to restore these with a file salvage software.
The system runs fine, but, I cant change anything in the preferences. The PrefPane list is still there in the same file PreferencePanes. Thank You
    System below
OSX Mavericks, Intel 24inch 2009, 8Gig Ram, 1 TB HD

But, If I boot it from the DVD using the R Button will that work?
    No.
Will I Ihave to start from Snow Leopard?
    Hopefully not.
Here's the thing: your Mac is older and I do not know if it has the updated firmware so you actually have a recovery partition (part of every OS since Snow Leopard - takes the place of install DVDs).
So, you can test that: choose restart from the File menu and when you hear the bong, immediately hit Command + R. If you get a grey screen with one window on it like this:
If you see this, choose to reinstall OS X and it should install the current system.
If your regular desktop appears, then you don't have a recovery and will need to start from the Snow leopard DVD (insert CD, choose restart and hold down C key) and then reinstall from there. You won't need Lion - just update Snow Leopard and then re-download Mavericks.

What "new system" did you reinstall?
Are you upgrading from Leopard to Snow Leopard?
Or did you reinstall Leopard?  If so, why and how (that may provide a clue)?
How is your Mac connected to the Time Capsule (use Ethernet for best results)?
You may need to repair the backups, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.

  • My plugins (inserts) are showing a strike-through them and all get is a track without any effects on it. How do restore the remove the strike-through of the plugin?

I completed a projected which I saved and closed. Afterward I reopened it to make some changes but found that all the plugins (inserts) in all the tracks had strike-through signs on them and when i tried to play the project all I got was sound without any effects. How can I fix this issue?

That would indicate that the plugin or plugins in question.. are no longer available... for some reason..
Did you change Logic's start up mode from 32 to 64 bit after you last saved that song? (and the plugins you were using were 32bit only versions)
Have you checked the AU Plugin Manager to make sure those plugins are still available?
Were the plugins used,  demo versions that have now expired or become disabled for whatever reason?

  • How do I get a file BACK to camera raw in CS5?

I worked on a file in camera raw, and accidentally pressed enter (well, I actually pressed it on purpose, thinking that would just accept the action I was working on), which sent the file to PS.  I wanted to continue working on the file in camera raw, but I can't figure out how to get the raw file back to camera raw.
    Help please.

One way was given above.Other way --go to Bridge & right click thumbnail and clear Develop settings. That is it.
Basically ,pl note that all changes made in Raw are stored in XMP file that is generated beside the original one.No Changes are made in Raw file.Open Bridge Keep track of one thumnail and delete its XMP file in explorer. The moment u delete the XMP file , ur thumbnail is restored to original. U have the same non-destuctive nature in Lightroom also but in a different fashion.Since ur question is basic now, U are going to enjoy RAW editing after going deep into it.Have a nice learning

  • How to restore the application icon

I need to know how to restore the application icon back to my Macbook.  I need to download firefox and can not do so becuase the application icon is not showing up.

In the first place, the Firefox installer has an alias to the Applications folder in its window - you simply drag the fox icon onto that.
I'm assuming that the missing icon you're looking for is the one from the Dock?
If so, select Macintosh HD in the sidebar, find the Applications folder and drag it into the Dock (to the right of the line), being careful not to release the mouse until the other icons move aside for it. If you do that right, the Applications folder will remain in Macintosh HD, and you'll have shiny new alias to it in the Dock.

System files are hidden by default in Finder now, search for what you want then click the little + button on the top right of the bar that appears when you do a search. A new bar comes up and click the first box (that says "Kind"), change it to "System Files". Then change the box that says "aren't included" to "are included" and your file should show up.

  • How to download the application file to local file by back ground job?

    hi:
can any one tell me how to download the application file to local file by back ground job? thanks in advance..
    Monson

    Hi,
In order to download a file from application layer to a local file in background,
first write a report(ZREPORT1) in which do the following steps:
OPEN DATASET g_file_1 FOR INPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT.
loop the g_file and append all the data into another internal table.
end of this report you shd have all the data in the application layer file into your internal table.
Now create another report(ZREPORT2) and submit this report in background.
    that is,
    JOB_OPEN
    JOB_SUBMIT and
    JOB_CLOSE
and in job_submit submit ZREPORT1 which downloads the file in application layer.
    Please reward points if helpful.
    Regards,
    Arul.

  • How to improve the speed for backing up files to time capsule via in hose wifi?

How to improve the speed for backing up files to time capsule via in hose wifi?

    via in hose wifi?
    Use a bigger hose??
    House??
Need to spell this out a bit more..
But speed via 2.4ghz to the TC is restricted by Apple to max 130mbps link speed.. much slower actual transfer.. latest TC and laptops can do 450mbps on 5ghz but you need to be up close.. so place the TC near the device using it.. and force 5ghz connection by using a different name for 5ghz network.

  • I just bought a macbook pro and I want to know how to restore pictures that were backed up on iCloud but then deleted from my phone. Isn't that the point of the backup so I can delete and make more space. Please help!

I just bought a macbook pro and I want to know how to restore pictures that were backed up on iCloud but then deleted from my phone. Isn't that the point of the backup so I can delete and make more space. Please help!

Log into the iCloud on your MacBook Pro and enable Photo Stream:
Then launch iPhoto and set iPhoto's Photo Stream preferences to the following:
Then check the Photo Stream section of iPhoto:
This is to confirm that the photos are still in Photo Stream. If they are they will be imported into the library.
NOTE: not all photos in an iPhone will be in the Photo Stream. PS only keeps photos in it for 30 days.
If you have the missing photos in your library put them in an album.  Connect your iPhone to the Mac and open iTunes.  In iTunes you can select that album in the library and sync the photos to your iPhone to get them back on the iPhone.

  • How we restore the database dmp file in Oracle10g express edition

please provide me answers as soon as possible...my database is fresh and i want to restore the dmp file in my database, that dmp file is exported by oracle 10g database on other machine.

there is no impdb or expdb command. There is an imp (for import) and exp (for export).
I assume you want to replace the existing database with the one on your laptop.
A much better and more efficient way to do this would be to backup the database on your home machine and then restore it to your office database.
but before you do anything, backup the database you are copying/importing to (backup option is available on the windows menu or its a batch or shell script in the appropriate directory)

  • (!) How to locate the original file for missing songs?

song could not be used because original file could not be found. Would you like to locate?
I got this message when I last tried to synch my ipod.  The message said there were 100 files which could not be found.   Actually more than 100 songs show the exclamation mark that says the file can not be found.
Previous posts on this issue suggest the underlying file has been changed or moved out from the ITunes organisation.  Well the last time I synched my ipod on Lion a few days ago it was fine.  On Sunday I wiped my hard drive, carried out the upgrade to Mountain Lion as a clean install, and used Migration Assistant to bring my user data over.  After that I ran cclean and disk utility permissions and disk verification.  Then this happened.
I migrated my  iTunes Library to an external hard drive six months ago. That was disconnected during the upgrade so I am not sure why the files can’t be found now.    Anyway, I want to recover the missing files .  I could not find them by name, album or artist on the external drive.  So I thought I would find them in Time Machine backup #1.  I couldn’t!.  Nor could I find missing songs on my alternate Time Machine backup #2.  Both Time Machine backups are set to include the external drive.  Songs recognised in iTunes are visible in the backups, but not the ones that are missing.
I have a third backup volume which was a clone of the Lion setup before I did the upgrade, but I can’t access this or Mac for a few days.
I did have some permissions failures after the 10.7.4 upgrade which resulted in creating 2 new standard user accounts.  Maybe I’v e got some files across these users?  But in that case I’d have seen problems before the upgrade?   I notice a fair number of these are compilations imported from CD about 4 years ago.  Bu tnot all.
(1).  Is there a smart way to list all the files that are missing?
I can scroll through all of  ITunes Music to see where there are exclamation marks.  I’d like to only list these missing songs.
(2).  How can I locate the missing media files?
    -  a search on Name / Album / Artist hasn’t found them in live drives or on TM backups.  I’ve still got the missing songs on my iPod, however.
Once I can answer these questions with your help I’ll know what would be the best way to try to recover, and to work out what went wrong.  I’m shocked that I can’t find them in backup.   Eventually I can restore audio from original source.  If they were photos that went missing from library and backups then I would have no way to get back!
    (3) could this happen in iPhoto?  (shiver)

Thanks for taking the time to look at my problem.  Shared is empty and I didn't back it up - I only transferred the standard and Admin users to the clean install of Mountain Lion.
But I got some valuable insight into how the iTunes library is set up from your article on split Libraries. I'd like to see it in the Tips for iTunes for Mac.   My Itunes library was set up in pre-Itunes 8 structure, and as I'd moved it to an external drive it didn't get migrated to the new structure in recent upgrades, perhaps?
I found your article extremely useful : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991.  That gave me the means to restore the missing files more quickly than getting the original CDs out and re-importing them to iTunes.
So I've now restored the missing files and started the backups rolling ....
I still don't understand how they went missing.  However the best backup was the Ipod itself.

  • How to restore the default web configuration in Lion

Hi guys so I was messing around with apache/php/mysql, and after trying to enable openssl I think i made a mistake because when I try to enable web sharing by checking off the checkbox under system preferences it just turns back off right away. If i go to 127.0.0.1 it doesn't work and neither does the localhost. I could try going through the httpd.conf files to fix it if someone could help me with that but I'd rather just try starting over, so i was wondering if there's a command to restore the web configuration back to factory settings. I know there's one for lion server which is $ sudo serveradmin command web:command=restoreFactorySettings Is there anything similar i could do in Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4??
    Thanks

No I haven't, could you explain how that works?? i can try it, it's something like this right? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5289
