How to restore without losing playlists created manually
I assume I need to restore my iPod because I inadvertently locked the volume limit and can't unlock it. (I clicked on combination, which locked it automatically without giving me a chance to enter a combination).
So, my question is how to restore without losing the playlists as I have them, given that I manually synced each song individually from various iTunes playlists.
Thanks,
Karen
You can't restore an iPod without losing all the data stored on it.
It seems from your post that the playlists are still in iTunes, so after the restore you can just transfer them to the iPod once more.
If the playlists are no longer in iTunes (and solely on the iPod), and if you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.

Hello
i tried to update my iphone and whilst doing it my phone switched off when i came to switch it on it came up with a itunes logo and a usb picture. When i plugged it into the laptop it is telling me i need to restore now i want to restore without losing my app media data how can i do this? You're going to have to restore if you want to use the device. Whether or not your data is lost depends on when you last did your backup, or for some apps, where the data is stored. Some apps store data off the device, on a server provided by the app developer (some games, for example, store your game data this way).
When did you last create a backup, either to iCloud or iTunes? -

How to reset without losing data?
LS,
Is there a way to reset my iPhone (through itunes or other) that will prevent me from losing data?
Situation:
I have an iPhone 3G with ios4. Saturday night my phone acted weird, it would lock the screen every few seconds without me promting it (automatic screen lock is off).
To reset the phone I pressed the home button and the on/off button simultamiously. Instead of simply resetting it stuck on the Aplle logo.
Trying to get it going again, it went out.
Since than whenever I try to switch the phone on, it asks for a reset through iTunes (picture of usb + itunes in screen).
Since I have not been able to synchronise the phone for a few weeks, I was wondering if there is a workaround to prevend loss of data (for instance the recent photo's).
I sincerely hope there is a workaround.
CheersWell, if you have a backup, that will save your text messages, settings, camera roll etc.
Not the music, photos, videos, contact etc.
So there is a way to restore without losing most of the important information. Since the music, videos and others are theoetically on your Mac/PC. -

how to restore without itunes
Restore to what?
An iCloud backup can be restored without iTunes. This restoration is only done in the new iPad setup procedure. To get into the setup procedure on an iPad you must be able to use Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
If you want to "restore as new" and get fresh iOS software then, as far as I know, this can only be done with iTunes. -
How to sync without losing Everything?!?
Got two Ipods here, for some reason my ipod will not sync with its mother computer, used to, won't now. I do not wish to lose all my music, oh and my Itunes library got wiped out too. So how do i sync an Ipods music that is ONLY on the Ipod, to a computer without losing everything? Does that make sense? Please help me!!
*So how do i sync an Ipods music that is ONLY on the Ipod, to a computer without losing everything?*
If your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 or later installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that way you can continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible - Windows version only)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay. -
My iPod 5 has been disabled and I am wondering if I can restore it without losing everything.
Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode. -
? Brand New phone, same iTunes: How to transfer without losing apps/music
In preparation for a new device, is it possible to transfer all your apps, music, bookmarks from iTunes to your new device without losing your apps/music, etc? If so, how? What are the steps involved? For example, if you have an iPod Touch and want to "clone" the iPod Touch to your new device, say iPhone or another iPod Touch?
Are there any limits in transferring paid apps to multiple devices? How does one do this?
Thanks in advance. Thanks Niel, I did this once before and so did others that I know. Guess what happened? We lost all our data on iTunes. Fortunately, I kept a backup of my iTunes folders.
I want to prevent this from happening again. I believe there is a "special" sequence one must follow to ensure this does not happen or was this fixed in future versions of iTunes?. -
How can I get a playlist created on my iPad to iTunes?
I create a playlist on the iPad... I love it... I want it on the iPhones in my household.
How can I get that playlist into iTunes, so I can push it out to the other iOS devices?
When I sync the iPad with iTunes, the playlist created on the iPad is wiped out.
All devices (iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPad 2) are on iOS 5.0.1.
Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2
iTunes 10.5.1.
ThanksYou can't move an iMovie project file and expect it to play.
You need to export from the machine that holds the source files to the format supported by the device. -
My daughter can't remember her passcode, and she has never synced it. Is there any way to restore it without losing all the apps and music that were downloaded?
If you can't remember the Passcode, you need to restore the device from the computer it was last synced with.
Follow the instructions for putting the device in recovery mode > iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
If you are a resident of the U.S., have iTunes 10.3 or later installed, and iOS 4.3.3 or later, can re download iTunes purchases for free.
So retore the iPod, then re download the iTunes media.

Possible to restore without losing data?
Hi. My 30GB iPod comes up with the message, "Connect to your computer. Use iTunes to restore." However, when I connect the iPod to my computer, and click the option to restore, the following message comes up, "Are you sure you want to restore the iPod to it's factory settings? All of your songs and other data will be erased." As I have music on my iPod which is not in my iTunes library, and I would prefer not to lose this music, is there any way I can restore the iPod without losing all my music? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Sorry, no. A restore will wipe out all of your iPod content, there is no way around it. This is EXACTLY why it is STRONGLY SUGGESTED that you regularly backup your library by burning data discs, using an external hard drive, etc. Relying on the iPod as your only backup is a recipe for disaster, as you have now discovered.

How to flatten without losing layer effects' "looks"
I am working on a client project involving photoshop files, each containing lots of layers and a fair amount of layer effects...things like drop shadow, glow, bevel, etc.
I am not having luck flattening these images (which I need to do) without losing the look of the original.
For example, the shadows might be there, but they aren't as dark, or the glows might not be as bright.
I am using CS4 for Mac OS X, and this vendor used a Windows version of photoshop, but I don't know which version.
thanks for any ideas!
DZChristoph,
>just to make sure: With »flatten« You do mean reduce to the background layer and not just reducing the file-complexity by merging groups or such?
That terminology
("reduce to the background layer") is not used in the English version of Photoshop. Not even
"reduce". :)
The menu item labeled "Auf die Hintergrundebene Reduzieren" (oder so was ähnliches) in German is labeled with a single word in English:
Flatten.
I know how hard it is to refer to specifics in a version in a different language when you don't have it available. It's not a question of just translating the word. "Layers" in the German version are not
layers at all but
planes (»Ebenen«, nicht »Schichten«). Took me a few seconds to figure that one out when I started out to learn Photoshop. :)
The concept of "Reducing" is not used in the English version at all. "Sichtbare Ebenen auf eine Ebene reduzieren" is simply
Merge Visible.

How to know whether TO is created manually
Hi,
I am looking answer for very basic question. If suppose, I have been created Inbound delievry and some one has done TO.
Is there any to find out, TO which has created is did manully or automaticlly?
Or elase, is there any t-code which list out manually created TO or automatically created TO.
Regards,
AjinkyaHi Ajinkya,
If the TO is created Manually then the reference data in TO will be blank.
You can go to TO header and in Reference data the TR number, Sales document , Material document will be empty...
If you check the movement type in 'Other data' you will see some different movement type like 999...
