How to resume import of large file in iTunes after breakdown ?

iTunes crashed, with a damaged library. I messed around with the previous libraries, import of xml etc, and ended up with my music folder splitted in two folders. One is about 192 GB, the other 165 GB.
Songs from a same album are lister over the two folders. So moving the artist folder together, wouldn't work, as they would override eachother.
I tried to set up a new iTunes library, and import everything to consolidate. The process was stopped often by error -50, but after hitting enter, continued. Until suddently the process stopped. I'm about the letter N of my collection.
On top of all, the music doens't appear in iTunes. I have the .xml file, .itl-file but no library itself.
Questions:
How to best consolidate large files in iTunes, as the process seems to crash in between ?
How to resume after crash ? If you point to the same folder, it will double the ones already imported, right ?
How come the library file wasn't created ?

Do I understand correctly that you logged on to the portal with your browser and then tried uploading your data by using curl? In this case, you are authenticated in your browser session - but not in curl's.

Well, indeed SAP portal is not compatible with curl, it's not on the PAM (sorry, couldn't resist).
Anyway: Have you tried using the portal GUI for batch uploading data (check import/export in role "user administration)?
Alternatively you might consider filling the user store directly (instead of using the portal / UME)? Where is your user and group information physically stored?

  • How to best import existing audio files into iTunes?

    Hello,
In sum, my question is:  What is the difference between adding music to iTunes Library by the following methods:
    Placing the audio files in the 'Automatically Add to iTunes' Folder;
Dragging the files from my hard drive to the Source Pane in iTunes; or
Using the File > Add Folder to Library dialogue?
Here are the particulars of my situation:
I have over 3,000 music files, and I would like to know the best way to get them into iTunes. From a lynda.com training video about using iTunes, I learned that there is a folder called "Automatically Add to iTunes", which is monitored by iTunes for new files to import into the iTunes library. However, I would like to know if this is the *best* way to do this. For example, can I just *move* my 3,000 music files into this 'Automatically Add to iTunes' folder and then let iTunes do its thing?
Will iTunes *move* the files that it is able to manage OUT of this folder and into one of its managed folders, such that there would be no duplicate file left behind? Is it correct in saying that the files that are left in this folder that were not able to be handled by iTunes and must be handled differently before they can be imported into iTunes? Or is there just an all around different, and better, way to get these music files into iTunes?
Thanks for your advice and opinions!
    ~Antonio

    Hello tt2,
I have given this a lot of thought and attention over the last few days.  As well, I appreciate very much your input and offers of help.
The major 'problem' that I have is that the files are most definitely not consistently named.  For example, they include the likes of the following:
    07 - Song Name - Song Artist.mp3
    01 - Song Artist_Song Name.wma
    Song Name [Song Artist].aac
And these are only examples, based on my trying to get across how variant the names are.  The actual file names are far more wildly various than even these, seemingly consistent file names.
So, this is what I was thinking of doing, per your suggestion:
An alternative aproach would be to use something like MediaMonkey (has advanced filename/path to tag tools) or MusicBrainz Picard (attempts to match audio fingerprints) to update the tags before the files get introduced to iTunes.
    Then...
    1. Move the files into the 'Automatically Add to iTunes' folder, then let iTunes have a go at getting them in to iTunes.
    2. Using either Tuneup or MusicBrainz Picard (Any comment on which is better?) to cleanup the file names (again) properly; and
    3. Then using your script to force iTunes to update itself, based on any new id3 data.
Does this sound like madness?  Or is it a good solution for this application?  I am very grateful for your, or any other, input.
    Take good care,
    ~Antonio

  • How do I import a PDF file into an After Effects project?

I'm working on a documentary in which I need to display various pages from some PDF files.  When I import the files, it only gives me the first page.  Is there a way to import more than the first page?  Thanks.

You've got a couple of options that will keep the files as PDF's. First, in Acrobat Pro extract pages using the extract each page to separate files option. Second, In Illustrator, Open the pages you want from the open dialogue and save each as a separate file. You can do the same in Photoshop, but you will end up rasterizing the PDF's. Using Acrobat Pro would be the easiest and fastest.
If you don't have Acrobat Pro, and have not downloaded the demo then you've got a few days to complete your project. The only thing that would foul this up would be protected or locked PDF's.
There's one other thing you should be aware of. Most of the time PDF documents are not designed with video in mind. There may be lots of lines and type that's just too small (1 pixel) to successfully end up on a DVD. You're in a little better shape if you're output is destined only for HD, but beware if you're going for SD TV via DVD.

how do I import my video files from old iPhoto - in time machine - to new iPhoto?  Photoes came across, video said incompatible.
i have moved from a mac pro to a mac mini,
Mini now has mavericks and latest iLife stuff, I clicked import, was all good, then at end, no videos came across.
Is Mavericks,/iPhoto having a compatibiltiy issue with some video formats....???
Your help is appreciated gang.: )

Please describe exactly what you did. In moving to a new machine no importing is involved. The best way is to simply connect the two computers together and drag the iPhoto library from the old one to the pictures folder go the new one and launch iPhoto

How do share a very large file?

Do you want to send a GarageBand project or the bounced audio file?  To send an audio file is not critical, but if you want to send the project use "File > Compress" to create a .zip file of the project before you send it.
If you have a Dropbox account,  I'd simply copy the file into the Dropbox "public" folder and mail the link. Right-click the file in the Dropbox, then choose Dropbox > Copy Public Link. This copies an Internet link to your file that you can paste anywhere: emails, instant messages, blogs, etc.
2 GB on Dropbox are free.     https://www.dropbox.com/help/category/Sharing

How can I import iPhone Garageband Files to Mac Garageband? I've found lots of threads about this but no direct answers/how to.

With the latest build of GarageBand on the device, move to the My Songs view, tap the Edit button at top right, select the shaking song you want to export, then tap the sharing arrow symbol at top left, tap iTunes, then GarageBand.
Connect the device to iTunes, select it in the left-hand column, then select the Apps tab. You should find the exported file in the File Sharing area of the GarageBand app and from there you can copy it to your computer, then open it with the GarageBand application.

  • How do I import an MKV file into Premiere Pro CS6?

How do I import an MKV file into Premiere Pro CS6?

Premiere Pro CS6 doesn't support MKV formats. To import MKV to Premiere Pro CS6, a recommended solution is to convert MKV to AVI.
I've been reading so many different forums on how to convert MKV to AVI. Finally, I summarised three solutions:
First one: HandBrake . This tool is a free and open-source multi-threaded transcoding app. It supports nearly any videos including MKV format and has Mac version and Windows version.
    Cons:
    1. HandBrake is too professional to handle for most people;
    2. It doesn't support MOV as output format.
Second one: there are many third party software which supports converting MKV to AVI. I just test one of them. It's professional yet easy to use and the service is excellent. And there is a step by step guide about how to use this tool .
    Cons:
    1. Most of them are not free.
Third one: Online-Converter . This kind of converter does a great job on file conversion.
    Cons:
    1. Like most online converters, the free version of this tool only allows you to convert videos smaller than 100MB. It's too small for video conversion;
2.Your MKV video should be upload to the internet to be converted. This means the risk of pravite information leak is possible.

  • How do I import an iMove file into Toast 7?

How do I import an iMovie file into Toast 7? I have tried
the image file copy and the horizontal
    aliasing still is there.

I am not quite sure what you are trying to do since you mention copying an image file. Let's start with an iMovie project and you now want to encode it. You have a choice of programs to do the encoding, Toast being one of them. If the video is less than 2 hours, iDVD offers more options and does a great job encoding the movie too. I use both programs. If this is the process you are trying to follow, then Toast 7 allows you to drag the iMovie project file directly into the Toast window (after selecting the Video tab)and it will locate the right file to encode. Set the various options for menus, etc. and then go. Usually, it is best to Save As Disc Image, and then burn the DVDs later from the image file again with Toast using the Copy tab (copy image file selection). If I create the image file with iDVD, I still use Toast to burn the DVDs. Toast 7 works great with iMovie 5, but I have not used it with iMovie 6. There could be some incompatibilities.
