How to resume interrupted iOS app update?

When updating an App on my iPhone (or iPad), sometimes the update stalls: maybe the net connection drops, or something else. When this happens, and I restart the App Store, the interrupted update just sits there, at the point it was when interrupted. It doesn't continue, or restart. How can I get it to restart without deleting the app and re-installing it? If I do that, I lose all associated files (I'm concerned here with Navigon Europe, and I don't want to have to download all of the maps again as I would have to if I deleted it and re-installed).

Reset your network settings on the iPhone. If that helps, then do the same for the iPad. (This can help whether Wi-Fi or cellular)
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Restart the device and try updating your apps.

I want un-installable app updates from being displayed in Updates. These updates require iOS 6.0 or later and cannot be installed on my original iPad that still runs 5.1.1 and cannot use 6.0.

I need help with my iPod Touch 4th Generation! It was in the morning and I was getting ready for school, and I saw my iPod needed the iOS 6 update. So I updated it, and when it was installing (showing that bar) I accidently was late, and took my iPod with me. I left the Wifi Area and now when it turns on the apple logo darkens and then it goes to a greyish blueish screen. Sometimes when it turns on the apple logo darkens and then goes to the same screen with a bunch of lines across it. What happened, and how do I fix it? If I turn it off it turns on by itself and then does the same as above. Please help me!

How to refuse Creative Cloud app update without quitting

When an update is available for the Creative Cloud app itself, the only choices given are Update and Quit. Quitting often prevents other CC apps from launching. I admin a training facility where we schedule our updates, and I can't have my students updating every time CC wants it (they don't have admin priviedges, and I don't have time to run around entering passwords every time an update shows up).

How do u stop an app update?

I dont want to update 4 of my apps for various reasons, so I have just not clicked on their update button, as there was no way to make the recommendation disappear. I accidently hit the update all button the other day, and the only thing I could do is quickly pause 1 at the very early update stage and 3 at the waiting stage.
But I can't seem to get it to do anything but wait for me to resume, no matter what I try. I don't want those apps updated. What is the secret?

thanks so much for the answer, sparky64. now i have a real stumper... i went into itunes before reading your eamil becqause i noticed that syncing i did the other day deleted most of my songs, so after checking off all the artists, I noticed itunes had started the updates downloading on my computer (I thought I could only update through my itouch) but did not catch it in time. Then I read your answer and hoped it was not too late to fix, but it might be, right? My itouch fortunately has not synced yet.
When I tiried to do the opposite from what you said - delete the app from my Pc and let it take on the itouch version, it would not let met. any more advice - please?

I just tried to update to Mac OS 10.10 (Yosemite). I failed due to 2 "incompatible app-updates". iPhoto 9.6 and iMovie 10.0.6 are said to be incompatible app-updates. So what can I do?

My question,too. I stopped and didn't update because I started reading all kinds of disappointing reports. The iTunes and GarageBand are offered for free, but then there is a list of "incompatible apps" such as iMovie. Will these apps be upgraded if I install Yosemite, or will I have to repurchase Yosemite versions? I'm also concerned about what 3rd Party apps will or won't work with Yosemite. I use Poser for 3D creation, and Photoshop, both just about every day. These work with 10.9.5, Mavericks. If an app works with Mavericks, will it work with Yosemite? Or, is there too big a difference in the System OS?

I usually just update all my apps, but this time I don't want to. The app is foxtube (youtube caching player). I just realized (after I pressed update) that the new update disables caching (by request of youtube), which defeats the whole purpose of the app in the 1st place. You'd do that if you wanted to add in all your contacts from facebook - it makes it useful to find out who's using other apps - 4 square - whatsapp, facetime etc. I had many facebook contacts that I don't call, however if they are using other things, I might be talking to them. So yeah, I decided to bring in all my facebook contacts. It has created a mess that I'm trying to clean up though. The mess is that I have a lot of duplicate contacts ( a facebook contact of Mary Smith and a contact on my phone of Aunt Mary). I know that when I go and edit one of the 2, there is an option to link the 2, which will then merge the data (adds email info, birthday, facebook contact info, twitter etc) but it doesn't delete one of the contacts. It should give an option to delete one of the merged contacts.. but it doesn't. I'm not sure how to fix this. I've been asking the boards here, but no solution has been given.

For about the 3rd time, something quite aggravating has happened when I have attempted to update some of the apps on my iPod Touch.
I manually go through and choose the 'Update' option for the Apps that I want to update. Well- as a few times before- ALL THE APPS switch to an 'Updating' status, and nothing I have tried has worked to cancel ALL Updates to start over. Whenever I do anything to interrupt the Updates, it resumes as soon as I am connected again.
I have a 32Gb iPod Touch, with a proverbial buttload of apps. And most of the updates I choose NOT to install because I have no problems with the current version, and there are no changes made that I need/want. Also- I have had quite of few apps START behaving badly AFTER I update them,. So if it aint broke- don't fix it.
Does anyone have any ideas that might help me? Surely I'm not the only one experiencing this.

1. Delete the newer, undesired version of the app on the iPod or iPad by touching the icon until apps start to flash on the device screen and then touch the "X" on the app to delete it.
2. Plug the iPod or iPad into the Mac.
3. Open iTunes
4. In iTunes, click on the iPod or iPod listed under "DEVICES" to select it.
5. In iTunes, click on "Apps" in the header of the device window at right.
6. Scroll down to find the name of the App, which will have the box to the left of its name unselected (which means it was deleted on the device).
7. Click that empty box to select it with a checkmark showing.
8. Click "Apply" at the lower right in the iTunes device window to restore the previous version to the device.
9. Wait for the sync to complete.
The older version will be restored on the iPod or iPad device.
