  • HT1414 How to unlock pass code

    Hi My I pad is stuck in lost mode we misplaced it for a few weeks. I set up find my I pad on another device since I have found the missing I pad but it's asking me for a pass code which I don't have. How do i reset my I pad??

    The screen passcode would be whatever you set when you locked the iPad. If you've forgotten that code, restore the iPad from the computer to which the iPad is synced. For information and instructions, see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
    If that will not work, you'll need to put the iPad into Recovery Mode and then try the Restore again:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
    If that still doesn't work, as a last resort try DFU mode:

  • How to bypass 'pass code' at startup?

    About 5 days ago, my iMac began shutting down all by itsself and hen restarting asking for a 4-digit passcode.  I entered it and things were fine.  It is still shutting down and now will not accept the pass code.  Is there a way around or a way to reset that faulty pass code?

    By "pass code" I assume you mean the password you use to boot your mac. If so you can go to system prefs. then click on "users & groups". Then click on "log in options" (the icon of a house at the bottom left of window) Set it for "automatic login" for your name. Then, whenever you boot, it will not ask for your apssword.

    Don't think that will work. The editor lock attribute works differently than this.
    No idea if this is what you want, but look at: http://www.sap-basis-abap.com/sapab028.htm

    I have forgotten my restrictions pass code.  How do I retrieve my pass code or how can I change it.  Thanks

    There is no way to retrieve it. You have to restore to factory settings.
    Restoring from a backup will simply restore the restrictions passcode that you cannot remember - unless in the unlikely event that you have a backup that predates the restrictions passcode, then you could restore from that backup.

    My Ipad mini is disabled

    Try this first - I saw a recent post where a user with the same problem after an iOS update used his Apple ID password.
    Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

    You may have to do this several times.
    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
  • How can I retrieve my pass code for restrictions?
    For the life of me I can't seem to recall the four digit pass code I used when I go to restrictions. I have tried several attempts but none work. Is there a way to retrieve that information?
    There is no recovering forgotten passwords.
    You want access to restrictions, restore the iPad.
  • I cannot remember my restriction pass code, and I don't know how to retrieve it. Can someone help me, I'm new to this stuff!!
    I set a restriction pass code, and when I tried to use it, it says it's wrong. But I had to put it in 2x so it can't be wrong. And I just set it this morning, so I didn't forget. It just won't let me in.
    iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212 - Learn what to do if you have forgotten or can't remember your passcode, or if your device displays a message saying it is disabled.
    If you cannot connect it to the computer to which the device was last connected (or the device was never connected to a computer) you will have to use recovery mode to completely reset the device, losing all data:
    iOS: Unable to update or restore - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 - recovery mode (e.g., cannot connect to computer last used to sync device, iTunes still asks for a password)
  • How do I find out what the restrictions pass code is
    My son is trying to purchase some additions to a game but when accessing the App Store he is asked for the restriction pass code. However we don't recall setting one up for him and he hasn't been asked for this before. Why? How do we find out what it is?  This is since upgrading to version 5.1.
    If you restricted in-app-purchases in Settings/General/Restrictions, and you don't remember the restriction code anymore to disable the restrictions, you'll have to set up the iPod as new device again, without using the latest backup, the restriction code is part of the backup and can't be changed by restoring the device from a backup that has been taken after the code has been set.
    How to back up your data and set up as a new device
    If there are no restrictions set, the code he is asking for is the iTunes ID password, to be able to purchase and download. If you have forgotten that one, follow this article to reset it:
  • How can I pass a file refnum into and out of external c++ code? What type does it convert to in c++?
    I am trying to write external c++ code that will read a file already opened by Labview and therefore assigned a refnum. (Unfortunately, I definately can't use the standard Labview vis.) However I am not sure what c++ type to use in order to manage the refnum.
    All help and thoughts appreciated. Thanks,
    Joanna
    You could do ALL your file handling in C or C++ (MFC CFile for
    example) and pass Microsoft file handles into and out of LabVIEW
    instead of LabVIEW file references into and out of C. This may be an
    easier way to attack the problem.
    You could create a DLL in MSVC that exports a FileOpen function, a
    FileClose function and a FileRead and/or FileWrite Function and then
    call that DLL from place to place as required in your code.
    It would help us if you would explain what kind of data you are trying
    to read or write and what the application is. Is it binary data?
    text files? Do you need some special Win32 file system feature like
    file mapped memory? I guess what I am asking is what is your
    motivation for doing file handling in C or C++?
