Prior to installing the latest update for Firefox this morning, all was well, but since that time, when I go to Farmville, it won't allow me to open my giftbox, barns, inventory, or bakery. I had the latest version of Firefox 5 getting automatically upgraded to Firefox 6.0, which disabled my Java 6.022 and 6.023 plugin. Since updating my Java is not an option, because then I can't access my bank account, I uninstalled Firefox 6.0 and installed Firefox 5.0. I quickly cancelled and disabled the auto-update. Now I have no idea if this is the oldest or the latest version of Firefox 5, because the auto-update doesn't let me choose the latest version of Firefox 5 instead of Firefox 6.0. Is there a way to do this manually?

That are Java Console extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and not the Java plugin (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins).
You can uninstall and remove Java Console extensions, you do not need them to run Java applets.

You should not have to disable the Anti-virus software in order to install Flash, only do that if is is interfering with the installation.

I use Nuance PDF Converter Professional instead of Adobe. When I click the Update button, another window comes up to tell me this program will be disabled.

I cannot use ITV player, it says I need to turn off ad blocking - how do I do this? It only began after latest update of Firefox installed.

I have tried to watch programmes on ITV player, which I have successfully done in the past, but now it tells me it cannot find the video and that I need to turn off ad blocking on my computer. I went into options, but could not find anything about ad blocking. I added www.itv.com to the exceptions list for pop up windows, but this has not helped. The problem only began after the latest update of Firefox was installed. I have never had any problem before. How can I get ITV player back, please.

In the first instance, I'd use Onyx and run through its sequence of maintenance and tune up tools:
Verify, Maintenance, Cleaning.
I'd also reset the SMC and PRAM (Google them)
If that doesn't help then I'd look at System Preferences.. > Accounts > Login Items tab (not Login Options). Check what processes get started at login and decide which ones you don't want.
After that I'd use Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor to see if any processes are using a lot of computer power or if anything else nasty might be happening.
If none of this helped then my final step would be to reinstall OS X.

This latest update of Firefox, 5.0.1, has a graphic in the toolbar space that looks like some kind of ad, had HP7 on it, Harry Potter ad maybe, and it obscures my tabs and toolbar and makes them very, very difficult to read, how do I remove it?

This latest update of Firefox suddenly had this ad (that's what it looks like), for what I am guessing is that it is an ad for a Harry Potter movie, as it says "HP7", (are there really seven of them now??? Wow, talk about overselling something....), but I need to remove it, can't see or read my tabs and tool bar headings, not good! My operating system is Windows XP, tablet PC edition, SP3.

Is it possible you accidentally installed a Persona? If it's a Persona or other kind of theme, you can revert to the default theme here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Add-ons > Appearance
Right-click default and choose it (your menu choice could say "wear it" or it might say something less strange)
