How to revert to Aperture 2 from 3?

I just installed Aperture 3.1 and was trying to finish the install when it said there wasn't enough room to convert my library to the 3.1 standard. (It wants 50 gb and I have 35 gb left)
I can't move any files, since I can't access Aperture now at all.
So, how can I revert to Aperture 2 without losing my photos in the process, so I can move some to an external harddrive?
Which leads me to THIS important question: I have thousands of photos on external harddrives that are referenced by Aperture. Do THEY ALL need to be changed for 3.1 to take effect? (I think the answer is YES)...if so, Aperture 3 is of NO USE to many of us! NO WAY am I going to change all of them. It's beginning to look like this non-destructive method of editing has its downfall.
(Yes, I know I should have had Time machine running this week...but didn't...my bad.)

Yes, I saw the check box and, assuming that it would all be fine, I checked it to update the library. However, it was at this point that a box came up indicating that it couldn't do it. It doesn't allow me to go any further.
So, I guess I just uninstall A3, and then go back an install my "old" A 2 ( plus the various updates for it) and THEN go to my Time Capsule for the old library? Or can I solve it by just going back to my Time Capsule completely for say, a week ago? (and not do an uninstall, or anything...just revert to whatever my 'puter was like a week ago?)

how do I copy Aperture app from iMac to Macbookwith different ID ?

    Do you mean
" Macbook with different Apple ID "   ?
If you bought Aperture on your iMac from the App Store using a different AppleID, sign into the Apple Store on your MacBook with exactly that Apple ID.  (Use the "Store" menu. First sign out and then sign in with the other ID)
Then reload the "Purchased" page. You should see now Aperture ready for download.  Install it.
Then sign out of the store and back in with your regular AppleID on that Mac.  If you are notified of updates, you will have to switch between AppleIDs again to install the update.

  • How to keep my Aperture library from showing up in other user's iPhoto?

I use an iMac 24 with OS 10.8.2  I use Aperture on my account and my wife and kids use iPhoto on their separate accounts on the same computer.
For some reason, over the last few months, everytime they open thier iPhoto, my Aperture photos show up first in there.  They have to wait until iPhoto stops its spinning beach ball (creating previews maybe?) before they can hit the Events box to find their own photos.
I have never set anything up to share libraries or anything like that.  This behavior started on its own, possibly during one of the recent system upgrades.  I have looked in the iPhoto preferences to see if there was an option to "automatically open Aperture library at launch" or something similar but could not find any such thing.  Even a search on these boards has been inconclusive.
Does anyone know how I can keep all these iPhotos from opening up other libraries by default?
This is almost as annoying as the 'New software is available" alert message which keeps popping up in everyone's account, even the non admin ones and even after I have done all the available software updates.
    Thank you for any help.
    Bo

Thank you Frank. I did check those settings and none of them were "on".
Here are two new bits of info to narrow down the issue:  It seems that this behavior happens only the first time after I import a new set of images in Aperture from a SD card, and only the first time iPhoto is opened after that operation.
    In other words:
    1. Import photos in Aperture in my account
    2. The first time one opens iPhoto in another account it will automatically display the new photos that were imported in my account.
    3. as soon as I click on "events" in that iPhoto session, all of these last imported photos disappear and only the ones that belong in that iPhoto library remain.  All is working normally from then on.
Really odd.  Almost as if a snapshot of the last imports was automatically distributed to all account and not purged until manually done so...
And secondly, although Aperture is teh very latest version, I still have iPhoto '09 (v 8.1.2).  I wonder if there is a bit of incompatibility with it and OS 10.8.2 maybe...

  • How to restore all aperture photos from Time Machine

My 2 main Aperture libraries are all messed up (cannot get photos back into their correct projects, some thumbnails are empty, etc. etc.  I think it's time to just restore all the photos from TimeMachine/External hardrive back into one NEW single Aperture  library.  How do I do this?

I think it's time to just restore all the photos from TimeMachine/External hardrive back into one NEW single Aperture  library.  How do I do this?
That are two tasks that you want to do in one - restoring from Time Machine and creating a new, merged Aperture library. Ths cannot be done in one go.
You can use Time Machine to restore your two libraries from the backup. But since Time Machine does not do archival backups of photo libraries, you can only restore the last backup TM made. Depending on when you last ran TM, this may very well be the current versions of your Aperture libraries.
To restore a library from Time Machine:
    Connect the backup drive.
In the Finder navigate to the folder with your Aperture Libraries (for example "Pictures") and open this folder as the front-most Finder Window.
With this window selected, go to the TM icon in the Finder's menu bar and "Enter Time Machine".
In the TM Time Line at the right of the TM Time Tunnel select the current backup and select the Aperture library in the Finder window. Select to "Restore to" this library to a different folder, so that you do not overwrite your current library.
Once you have restored both libraries, check, if the projects that you are concerned about are now separated again and are showing all thumbnails.
To help you to create a new, combined library from the restored library, we will need to know more. There are several options, e.g.:
Merging the two libraries by importing one into the other.
Exporting all your originals, project by project, and reimporting them.
What is your Aperture 3 version number? Do you have the latest version 3.4.5 or an earlier version?
How to proceed will depend on what you could recover from Time Machine.

  • How to revert back to Lion from Mt. Lion

I have a 2009 IMac.  I have no problem upgrade from Lion to Mt. Lion.  The only issue I have is the IMAC is very very warm, 55 degree on CPU and between 65 to 70 on GPU diod.  I want to revert back to Lion which I paid and downloaded in 2011.  The App store would not let me redownload again said that I have a newer system. Since I downloaded the Lion, I do not have any installation disk for Lion.

You need to first erase the hard drive:
Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • How can I copy aperture 3 from my macbook to my new macbook pro?

I bought a new macbook and want to put aperture 3 on it. I was told to go to the app store and click on purchases and install to my new computer from there. I am doing that right now but the internet where I am is so slow it's taking forever.
Is the a faster more expedient way to copy it from my macbook to my new macbook pro?

If you bought Aperture from the App Store this is the best and safest way to install on the other machine.
Pro Apps like Apertue do not like being copied and will sometimes experience problems if copied. They really need to be installed from the install media.

  • How to revert to Snow Leopard from time machine on Yosemite Device.

    Hello everybody,
Essentially I need to revert back to OS Snow leopard on my new macbook that has Yosemite installed (bought secondhand) as a few of my DJ programs (Rekordbox) are not co-operating with the new OS. I have the back up on a hard drive made with Time Machine, is there any way I can do this?
My old Macbook pro is still working, its just the backlight has gone out, so I have to use a torch on the back to see what I'm doing. Everything still functions correctly on my old device, and I can use the carbon clone copy if need be. Really just need my old laptop's os/files on this new device with Yosemite on it.
    Thanks in advance.

Do a backup, preferably 2 seperate ones.
Revert to a Previous OS X
    Revert to Snow Leopard
If you do revert, I'd use Setup Assistant to restore your data. This process takes a while, so do it when you won't need the computer for several hours, based on my experience.

  • How to Revert back the changes from the new version to old version

Hi, I need to revert back the changes in one of the Objects in Intergration Directory.  Which means, I need to de-activate the existing version, and have the old version activated again.  Can you help me on the steps on doing this?  Thank you.

    Mary,
If you have just saved urt object in IR / ID and not activated it, then u can simply go to the change list tab and right click on ur object and do " Reject changes".
if u have already activated the same, then u wud b required to open the object in IR/ ID.
Click on the history option and double click and open the same object version that u want and activate it.

  • How to revert to firefox3.6 from firefox4.0

    hello,
i tried accessing servicedesk.west.com after giving the userame and passwd, page loads perfect, but when i try to access any information it doesn't open in firefox4.0 but i can in other previous versions.
i disabled the popups as well

To see whether this problem is caused by the new HTML5 parser in Firefox 4, you can toggle it off like this:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''html5''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click '''html5.parser.enable''' to toggle it to false (it should turn bold).
Then reload the West page and test again. Any improvement?
If necessary, here's the process to roll back:
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
    Close Firefox 4.
You could install Firefox 3.6 over it (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.
Note: I haven't actually tried this myself!

  • How can I migrate an Aperture library from an external HDD with Mac OS Extended (Journaled, Encrypted) format?

How can I migrate an Aperture library from an external HDD with Mac OS Extended (Journaled, Encrypted) format?
I used to store my pictures on an external hard drive using the latest version of Aperture. Now I tried migrating my Aperture library to Photos. However, after a short moment an error message popped up telling me that "Photos was unable to make a copy of your library before preparing it. Photos does not have the necessary permissions...".
My external HDD doesn't need any permission repairs nor is the system prohibited to read from or write to it.
Thanks for any advice in advance!

My guess is that the encryption is the problem for the new app.

  • How can I move the aperture program from my old Mac to my new Macbook Pro?

I have Aperture 3.2 on my old Mac laptop and would like to know how to move it over to my new macbook pro retina laptop.  I tried to just move it from my external hard drive, but that didn't work. Can I use the migration assistant to transfer this and only this program to my new laptop?
    Thanks,
    Shirley

Apple Pro Apps like Aperture really do best if installed from the original media that hey were bought on. Trying to migrate Aperture can lead to a lot of frustrating problems.
The libraries can be copied over just as you would any file but the application itself needs to be installed.
How did you purchase Aperture? If you got it in the Mac App Store then all you need to do is log into the MAS from the new computer using the same Apple ID you used to buy Aperture and download it.
If you bought it on DVD you will need to install from those and then run software update to get to the latest version. Remember if you bought it on DVD you will need the original serial number that was included in the package. Also if this was and upgrade from an earlier version (1 or 2)  you will need those serial numbers also.
