How to rid the SPOD Spinning Pin Wheel Of Death

Hello,
Have this what they call the SPOD Spinning Pin Wheel Of Death. Cant rid it. Don't know where it came from or what to do to get rid of it or stop it from spinning.
Help!

Basically, you print out the instructions if possible.  Start at the beginning.  Try one step at a time.  Sometimes troubleshooting articles are a bit overwhelming & a lot of info overload.  You also have a choice of doing a Google search for step by step instructions that you can understand.  No one here knows the level of "understanding" when we post solutions.
Perhaps the steps mentioned in the following are easier to follow?

  • Aperture 3.1-OS 10.6.5-Spinning Pin wheel of Death

The main reason I switched to Aperture was for syncing between three macs. After the last updates every time I try to Import Libraries/Projects from my MBP, Aperture freezes when I select the library on the MBP. I have repaired permission and repaired the Library on the MBP. I have tried to import (sync) to two different iMacs with the exact same results. I am not having any issues with Aperture on the MBP and copied the MBP Library to one of the iMacs. I have not tried the third option the rebuilds the Library on the MBP.
    Any suggestions, Thanks

Back to my mac is working fine. The HD of the computer I am trying to sync mounts and I can select the Aperture library. I can drag the file to the iMac and aperture will sync. I get the same results on two different networks. My home network and my office network. The issue is connected to the network but it is Aperture getting the spinning pin wheel of death on a function listed as a top ten reasons for using Aperture. Syncing was working fine until I installed 3.1 and or 10.5.6.

  • Why do I get the Mac spinning color wheel for 40 secs or more?

Vers 7.0.1 completely stops my MacBook Pro and shows the dreaded spinning color wheel. I turned on my Activity Monitor and have traced the "time out" to Firefox. Not a plugin, per se, but to Firefox.
I have NEVER had this problem before this upgrade. I turned OFF the syncing, thinking that could be the problem (I had been notified several times - 10? - that the syncing server wasn't working properly, so I thought of it).
Any suggestions how to stop this. TOTALLY annoying. Happens ever few minutes even when I have the browser open but am working in other programs.
It takes more than 100% of my CPU usage.

  • Spinning color wheel of death

every time i try to open the mail i get the scwd. how do i solve this problem? right now i have to go thru my .mac acct to get my mail. very annoying.

Yesterday, whilst trying to solve a problem with mail - which attachments sporadically and automagically become embedded BASE64 files I rebuilt my IMAP inbox - All worked well for about two minutes. Then the real problems began. Mail would present me the Spinning Colored Wheel of Death. Then consume my CPU to 95% and Not Respond. Interestingly enough - I was still able to receive mail. Just not able to respond.
For the next few hours I scoured the forums. Reviewed the data collection bits and tried all of the solutions - none worked. I even tried to remove everything and start afresh but alas there are still some mail parameters lurking somewhere that seemed to keep ensuring the problem resurface.
I even tried to repair my drive but could not - because the repair option was grayed out. Was able to verify, fix permissions and all of the other activities instead of sleep.
I moved copies of Mail folders to the desktop - restarted. Nope. I moved my Preferences -> com.apple.mail.plist file - re-entered all of the information anew.Nope. Removed partial.emix files. Nope.
All in all it appears that there are many with problems and no real straight forward troubleshooting - a lot of "try this" and "try that" approach.
I would think that for a product that has numerous parameters and characteristics, there would be a better troubleshooting methodology.
Finally I fixed the problem ...
I went to http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird/ downloaded and installed Thunderbird - I am now back up and running.
I guess to be proficient I need to really understand the architecture of Mac Mail. I'll let the problem vet it self out to those that have the time and revisit at a later date - maybe. Until then TB 1.5 will enable me to get work done - and get some sleep

  • While using Firefox when I click the mouse or when typing like this I get the Mac spinning color wheel and any action is delayed about 10 seconds.

I'm on an iMac, 10.4, Firefox 3.6.20 and the problem is occurring with greater frequency. When I installed 3.6.20, it ran perfectly for a short time, but now the spinning color wheel happens on almost every mouse click and it makes using Firefox an impossibility. I tried the Apple installed Safari and had no difficulties. It does not occur when I use Thunderbird 2.0.0.17 either. I will appreciate any help because I rely on Firefox. Thanks.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the sessionstore.js [2] file and possible sessionstore-##.js [3] files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

  • How to stop the "BEACHBALL" spinning forever with every move I do?

Sorry for the lack of a better word. I have (2) G3 imacs running 10.3.9 w/cable internet, the graphite is linked directly to the cable modem w/ Airport Extreme and and the Flower Power uses an Airport Express. The Flower Power has no problems and is faster than the graphite. The problem of the spinning "Beachball" has gotten worse. As I surf, and go from page to page, it will load fast, but THEN the ball spins! , I have to wait for it to stop so I can move about the page, I guess you can say it freezes for a minute or 2, the mouse moves freely, but I can't click on anything. I empty my cache, and zap my "p" rams at start up, and even rebuild the desktop.
Does anyone have this problem? and what can I do to stop it? Any settings I can check, etc...?
    THANKS FOR ANY INPUTS!

Sorry first post in this forum.   I can log on to Yahoo email, read a few emails and then the infamous multi-colored spinning wheel appears and I end up having to shut down and cycle back in again.  I have a 2011 MacBookPro 17 not quite a year and it just started acting up this way.  Any suggestions.  Thanx.

  • How to stop the endless spinning beach ball??

What am I supposed to do when something has obviously gone wrong & the beach ball is spinning round endlesly? In Windows you could just hit Control-Alt-Delete - is there nothing similar on a Mac?? I cannot close anything off or make it stop; if I force shut down, when I switch on again it is still there spinning round... Jeez, and people used to complain about the egg timer in Windows; this is 100 times worse; there seems to be no controls or anything to shut things off in this stupid Mac...?

  • Macbook Is freezing randomly and giving me the spinning rainbow wheel of death.

Hi all. My Macbook (2009, right before they were changed to pros) is freezing at random times, sometimes when I'm on the internet, sometimes when I'm just trying to quit a program etc. It gives me the spinning wheel and when I go to the little apple in the corner to try and force quit my browser, or restart, it won't even click that, and remains frozen.  I replaced my hd about four months ago so I don't know what would be causing this. Is there anything I can do that doesn't involve me having to go to the Apple store?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take one of the actions that you're having trouble with. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

  • Why am I get the endless spinning color wheel?

When I try to open an email or other attachments I get the spinning color "thinking" wheel.  It never ends so I have to close the application.  Is this a problem with my wifi?

  • How to use the 6221 68 pin board?

I am using the PCI/PXI 6221 to control a motor by varying the voltage using LabView 8.2.   We are having trouble hard wiring the input and output voltages in and out of the board.

    Hi leaf34,
If I understand you correctly, you are having difficulty wiring your motor to your 6221. Are you using a connector block? The SCB-68 is a popular shielded connector block that works with M Series devices. Each pin is connected to a screw terminal for easier wire connection.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great day!

Thank you, I've got it reverse, but now it tracks across the screen, is there a way I can lock it in a fixed place?

  • Is anyone else having frequent crashing with iphoto 11 while editing photos?   We have 2 imacs (2007) and 1 Macbook pro (2010) and all three exhibit the same spinning rainbow wheel and crash after 3-7 edits.

    all macs are running 10.6.7
    all have 4gb ram
I saw some posts about the early intel nvidia issues, but the fix mentioned was 10.6.7 which we already have.
same library worked perfectly before iphoto 11.
