we have developed an FM unstructured template where each page contains basically two text boxes: a main text box where all the content goes (main flow), and an info text box where specific page-related information goes (info flow(s)).
Now, we want to make a Structured FrameMaker application out of it. My question is: Is there a way to direct XML content into a particular flow, depending on the elements (or whatever)?
I may add a question which is kind of off-topic from the above, but also not: How can I deal with the FM built-in line, circle, ... graphics in an structured application? I mean, how can I export and import them? I have no read/write rules found supporting these types of objects. If I have to write an import/export api client, how does FrameMaker behave when inserting a new line? I mean, how is the Structure View informed to do an update (knowing that my drawn line is a "line" element inside the structure tree with appropriate attributes)?

Thank you for your reply. So your answer confirms what I supposed after going through all the documentation. Probably, we will just keep to .FM format, because actually we do not need XML as source. This will keep things easy - and we can avoid an import/export client.
But the problem with multiple flows is also: you may mix unstructured and structured flows in a document, and "Validate" will not complain. So we have to set up our "own" validation to guarantee 100% structured flows.
The other questions: It was about the FM drawing objects, if there is a representation for EDD or read/write rules. But based on my research, I think there is no such representation, as it is e.g. for anchored frames (you click on an anchored frame and the corresponding element in the structure view is highlighted and vice versa).

How to rollback from patch upgrade?

If I installed a new patch for DS or DPS, how can I rollback? Is there any tool to auto this job?

I think after taking ldif backup for config and user data, you may simply re-install the original DS5.2 without patch.
However for schema and config data changes, it is your responsibility to scrutinize them and restore back the "correct" one.
So you may need to edit the ldif backup to suit the rolled back schema and config, prior to restore via ldif,..
Just my 2-cent, never done it.

How can I properly export video w/ bars to Rec709 (16-235 in 8-bit) from Premiere's RGB (0-255)?

I have hit some real frustrations in working with Premiere to meet broadcast Rec709 standards for DVD & Blu-Ray. Avid Symphony works in a Rec709 space and clearly operates with its video signal from 16-235 (which matches IRE 7.5 to 100), but Premiere doesn't seem to have this understanding in its programming and engineering. Here are my issues:
1) I can't manually enter in the digital values in the RGB Curve tool's points. Why would Premiere's engineers lock this basic feature out? It's in Photoshop.
2) I can't properly export Premiere's color bars. In order to export to Rec709 standards, to get around issue #1, I hack into the RGB Curves preset XML file to lift the Master Curve's point 1 from 0 to 16 and set the final white point from 255 to 235. If I use Premiere's bars, on the waveform, I can see the sub-black values, but when I lift the blacks with the curves preset, it clips all sub-black values upon export. WHY?! To get around this problem, I import bars generated by a camera (for example, by a Sony EX-350, i.e. XDCAM footage). All of this wouldn't be an issue if there were an export function that specifies exporting to rec709's 16-235 values instead of 0-255, as Avid does.
3) Particularly, the Waveform scope lies to me. The 7.5 IRE setup button does NOTHING for me, it's just a preview option that causes more confusion than clarity. Does Premiere map 0 out of 0-255 as 0 IRE or 7.5 IRE? I think it does the former and just uses that setup button to make you think that it's at 7.5. so if you do set it to 7.5, how then do you export it to match that option? Also, why can't the waveform scope have multiple options for the units - not just IRE, but also digital values (8-bit, 10-bit, linearized, etc.)?!
4) Speaking of importing the bars and footage. To continue the example of the Sony EX-350 - it imports the bars automatically by putting the black values at 0 IRE, not 7.5 IRE.
If Adobe wants industry professionals to take Premiere seriously, it needs to open up these options and clearly present what happens to tonal values in the image. It's very frustrating to figure out all of these problems and create cockamamy work-arounds.

Thanks for your reply! However, I hope you don't take my response the wrong way, but, with no meaning of disrespect to you personally, the notion that curves are the wrong tool for numeric adjustments extremely infuriates me and displays a real lack of understanding of why a colorist or cinematographer such as myself would want to use curves in the first place.
First, any LUT generation program or coloring program, such as Apple Color, gives complete access to numerical control to give precise, repeatable changes that you cannot get with the drag of a mouse. Photoshop, Avid Symphony, etc. all have curves tools with the ability to manually enter points.
Second, on a user level, there should be no wrong tool for numeric adjustments, especially curves - they are the most precise means to obtain a specific contrast response. Levels or RGB corrector will only give gamma, pedestal, and gain operations, but curves gives every possible shape of a contrast response in between. If I wanted to create a very specific S-curve, I must use the curves tool to do so.
Third, the question at hand is not Premiere Pro's ability to process natively in Rec709 with signal from 16-235 - Premiere's native ability to process all types of video input is the sole reason why I've switched to it as a platform. 'Sub-black values are not necessarily clamped'?! How then can I export a TIFF, for example, of Premiere's bars, with the sub-black values left intact? How do I even access these sub-black values, when all footage clips below 0 IRE? The primary question is, how does Premiere handle and export these IRE values with respect to digital values, whether they are 8-bit, 10-bit, 12-bit, etc.?
Adobe's video workflow lacks a concise, cohesive FAQ or explanation of its numerical signal chain. At least, I have missed it and can't find it anywhere. If I want to properly color grade footage with a proper final output in mind, I need to know my end goals to take the proper intermediary steps.

Just one question: I am using PL SQL Developer. My goal is to export some data (as .sql and .dmp files) from one database and to import them into the another database (both databases have identical structure - test database and production, just different database names and names of schema. In order to make it possible, I need to exclude schema name from generated export file. I believe that it is possible to do it automatically by setting up parameters of PL SQL Developer. How?

In the meantime, I have found the answer on my previous question:
Actually, the initial idea (how to exclude schema name from exported files) was wrong. No need for any intervention.
Trick is: Schema name can be changed during the import of exported files (PL SQL Developer during import gives possibility: From User (old schema) To User (new schema) .
Hope that this will be useful info for others.

How to save or export from iMovie?

I have version 10.0.4. I cannot share or export or save my movie so I can use it in any way. I can share individual clips to Theatre, but not the whole movie. How can i use my movie if I cannot get it out of iMovie?
It seems that this is a universal problem. Is this app simply a useless piece of junk?
It also seems to me that we used to have to finalize a movie project, but there is no finalized option anymore???

Thanks Josh, that's some help, but if I can impose on you for a little more, I should back up a little.
I have a movie as an event which I have done considerable editing on and I consider it a finished product. When I select the event, I can export it too, but it's made up of 5 clips and no matter how I try to export it, it always ends up as 5 separate files. I need it as one file for ease of operation.
Can't seem to find a way to merge the clips no matter what I try to export the whole thing.
And in "All Projects" there are 2 clips of parts of it - one is 0 secs and the other is 57 secs. My whole event (movie) is a little over 8 minutes, again consisting of 5 clips.
If you can help me with this, I'll definitely be in your debt. I have spent many hours trying to make it work with no luck.

How to rollback data from cube?

Hi Experts,
I have never worked with BPS and I have got one issue with BW support to look upon.
My questions are :
1) I ran some planning functions, there was some problem. Now how to rollback the data which would have got posted.
2) The planning cube has got request which says " Request without Monitor Log: APO Request or Terminated Request Generation" but this is yellow and transferred and added records are zero.
Alos I ran planning functions yesterday but update request in this yellow request is of 8th Jan.
So in which request data is bieng posted into cube? Also planning functions were succesfully ran since it showed me n noumbers of records changed.

If they are executed a spart of Planning Sequence then you wouldn't have to save anything, it will be automatically saved if there are no errors in any of the planning functions in the sequence.The buffer is always current with all the changes occured, so you wouldn't have to worry about explicit save or refresh unless these aren't part of planning sequence.Here are some links that will provide you with helpful insight on this topic:

고객이 Budget 화면에서 End Date 설정을 잘 못 하여 Period 가 잘못 지정되었는데 Budget Journal이 생성된 후에 End Date 설정을 강제로 변경 하고자 할 경우나 Budget Balance 자체에 문제가 있을 때 아래와 같은 Step 으로 Rollback 한다.
Solution Description
Step 1. 관련 데이타는 미리 Back up 받아 놓는다.
Step 2. Delete 할 Period를 결정한다.
Step 3. GL_BALANCES table에서 해당 period 의 budget balance 를 Delete 한다.

No, the 1080p option would re-compress the file as a 1080p H.264/AAC file. This means the compression format may be chaged from its original compression format and that the quality MAY be reduced due to the process of recompression. Basically, it all depends on what the original compression format, settings, and quality were like to begin with. If the original data was in a low compression editing format, then recompressing the data to H.264/AAC should produce a much smaller file with little or no loss in visual quality while recompressing a high compression format may produce little or now change in the file size but noticeably reduce the visual quality. Since "quality" is a highly subjective term, you should really be running your own tests to see which output you prefer rather than asking for opinions from others here.
Also, my question was if I could change the default export settings:
Depends on what you mean by "change" the default settings. The Apple H.264 presets are context adaptive in nature. They are, within certain limits, self-adjusting depending on the video content being transcoded and the specific preset selected. For instance, small target dispay dimensions will produce lower average data rates which means the final file will be smaller but you cannot manually change the frame rate, set key frame frequency, set a/v data rate limits, create custom anamorphic encodes, manually set the profile/level combination, set the entropy mode, etc.

Then the dpi value is removed, the gif files has no dpi value (it's empty).
