How to run a portal application in EP

Hi all,
I can upload and download .bak files from System admin-> support>portal runtime>browse .
After customization i can upload it back also to the portal by System admin> Support>Admin consolse.
How am i to run this portal application in the portal . I need to test wheather the customization i have done to the components are correct or not?

You can also run your component by calling the URL as:
http://localhost:50000/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/YourApplicationName.YourComponentName
YourApplicationName = ApplicationName is par file name
YourComponentName = To know the ComponentName, Check your PortalApp.xml <component name="YourComponentName "> tag

I am now to CE. I found the portal application architecture has changed a little.
An portal application previously are packaged into a par package, and deploy to irj as an portal application, but I found in CE, it is packaged into an web application and not under irj any more.
Another encountered problem is in previously release (EP 7.0), we can created an iview directly from an portal application, but in CE we found we can only created iview from iview template.
So my question is:
How could we run our developed portal application?

Hi Yang,
In CE the portal applications can be found under, Content Administration->Portal Content->Portal Applications.
Try to look for your portal application in the above repository and Right click->Copy. Then go to the Portal Content Folder and try to Paste as a PCD object.
In CE we have something called GPAL. Under this, the Repositories for different applications developed outside the portal are created e.g. Portal Applications, Web Dynpro Applications, Portlet Applications, WSRP Objects etc so that the PCD content can be created out of them.

save your workflow as an ical plugin, this will automatically insert the workflow into ical,and create a workflow category for it, then just set to repeat every 5 minutes, or save as an APP and use a program called CRONIX (freeware) to run the schedule.

How to run a FXML application on a server?

I would like to learn how to run a FXML application as applet directly on a server with no download for the client part.
My question:
1) Is it possible?
2) Is there someone so kind to give me some basic steps I have to follow to accomplish this?
A working example of the whole process would be very appreciated.

I'm not sure the question really makes sense.
FXML is a markup language for laying out the user interface in a JavaFX application. So "FXML application" doesn't really make sense; you have JavaFX applications whose layout may or may not be managed by FXML. What you can do with those applications doesn't depend on whether FXML is used. In any event, JavaFX applications are inherently client-side applications; they have a user interface and expect user interaction. It wouldn't make sense to run these on a server.
So it's not really clear to me what you mean.

You did not mention exactly which Forms version you are using so it will be difficult to offer specific help. However, you did mention Forms 9i. ALL "9i" releases were desupported long ago, so find software or documentation are becoming more difficult.

Hi Vijay,
go after you have deployed to Deploy on the right side of the VC. There you have to see "see source code" and "Run name of your application". Put your mouse at run and the application will start.
Another way ist to put the Button "Deploy Model " (it is the picture with the running man) in the 2second menu line. If you do this, the modell will start automatically, if it has no errors.

what do you mean remote application.In the other pc or in your pc just apart from you application?
If the application is in your pc,the method which the upper has mentioned is
a good one!
But if the application you want to run is not in your computer,the method can't do. And you can use socket with which you can build an application listening some port in the pc which contains the application you want to run .When you want to run that application ,send the Start_Command to the listening application.Then listening application will run the application with the help of the method the upper mentioned.

 Following is the steps for debugging the portal application.
Steps for Debugging
1. Stop the Portal Server if Running.

2. Launch the Config tool of J2EE Engine & Set Up the debugging of the current instance.
 The Config tool is located in the directory ,
<J2EE-Install-Dir>\JC00\j2ee\configtool\configtool.bat
 Switch to the current instance & go to the debug tab.
 Set Enable Debug Mode checked, start the VM of J2EE in debug mode.
 Set a valid debug port, default port is 50021.
 Save the settings and restart the J2EE Engine.
3. Restart the Portal Server.
4. Open SAP Netweaver Developer Studio. Go to Window --- > Open Perspective --- > Enterprise Portal & also open the Debug perspective.
 This enables you to develop & deploy EP Components to your development Portal.
5. Configure Development Environment for Debugging.
 Create new Remote Java Application debug settings.
 Pressing the debug button attaches the SAP Netweaver Developer Studio to the Specified portal installation.
 Go to Debug --- > Remote Java Application & create a new setting for your current Portal Application Project.
 Insert the portals DNS or IP Address and the debug port specified in the Config tool, default port is 50021.
 If the portal runs on the local machine you can enter localhost instead of IP address or DNS name.
 Make sure that your Portal Application is already deployed in the portal.
6. If the connection is attached to the J2EE engines VM session, the SAP Netweaver Studio is ready to debug.
BREAKPOINTS
A Breakpoint causes the execution of a program thread to suspend at the location here the breakpoint is set.
7. Set a breakpoint in your custom coding. The debugger will stop if the VM reaches this marked code line.
To enable the breakpoint,
 Locate the breakpoint in the marker bar of an editor.
 Open the breakpoints context menu & select Enable Breakpoint.
 The breakpoint image will change back to a blue circle.
VARIABLE VIEW
The variables view contains information about the variables in the currently-selected stack frame.
8. To Launch the Variables View :,
Choose Window -- > Show View -- > Other -- > Select Debug -- > Variables View.
9. Force the Portal to execute your deployed coding. The VM stops at the specified break point.
10. The current values of the member variables can be tracked in the Variables window of SAP Netweaver Developer Studio.

Error while running the portal application

Hi All,
I have made one sample portal application in Sun Java Studio Enterprise 8.When I build this application it is successfully build.Now when I start the server of Sun Java Studio Enterprise 8 and try to run the project ,the browser opens and gives the following error::
HTTP Status 404 - /portlet/
type Status report
message /portlet/
description The requested resource (/portlet/) is not available.
Sun-Java-System/Application-Server
If anyone having idea about this problem then please let me know.All suggestions are welcome.

OK, so they are not in the mood for posting on the forum today :-)
They suggest three things.
1) Restart the server. Deploying a portlet requires some configuration changes, which will take effect only after the server is restarted. Thus if it failed to restart due to some reason...
2) Try deleting the JSE userdir and trying again.
3) If the above two items do not help. Start the studio with the following command:runide.exe -J-Dcom.sun.tools.ide.portletbuilder.log=log,info try the deployment and either post here or email the output which will be output to the console.

How to run Forms5.o Applications on WEB using OAS 4.0.7

I Have Oracle Application Server 4.0.7, installed, up and running
on an NT Box. I have installed Forms5.0 Deployment server &
Client on It.
I was able to Run a forms module usning the Non Cartridge Method.
I am not able to figure out how to create a forms Cartridge or
Application in OAS 4.0.7.
Can any body please let me know how to create the forms
application and run on OAS4.0.X
The only application type that we can create in OAS are like,
PL/SQL, Live HTML, JCORBA, WebC . I don't find a corresponding
Application for forms. The documentation doesn't speak any thing
about the forms ..
