How to run a report jsp on a Web Server

Hi,
I've been working as plsql developer for many years, but I'm completely new on Oracle Reports.
My question is very simple.
I've tried to create a report by using the Wizard and once finished I see that, if I try to save the report, it's saved as .jsp
Does this mean that I can simply save my .jsp on a Web Server (for instance Tomcat) and run it on a browser?

Hi All,

Does anyone have tips on running a report outside of the web container? I'd like to be able to JUnit the scenarios I'm coding up without having an app server running. What is the ReportClientDocument expecting in the request, response, and context? The code as shown just returns the enclosed error.

All I'm really trying to do is have the report execute and be able to assert that the data is appropriately retrieved from the data source. If there's a way to do that without the Viewer, that would be cool, too.

Any tips would be much appreciated. Sorry about the poorly formatted code and error... the code tags don't seem to be working...

There's no documentation as to what's the minimum HTTPServletContext, HTTPServletRequest and HTTPServletResponse the CrystalReportViewer expects.
There certainly are plenty of unit testing frameworks for Java Web Apps out there, if that's where you're headed.

Error while running a report JSP in a war file from 9iAS server

I've a web application archive file (war) which i m deploying to the web using OEM. The war file consists of many JSPs. Among those JSPs i have one Report JSP, which i m calling from another JSP which is like a parameter form for the report JSP. When i call the report JSP, it gave me the following error,

The report tag in the report JSP is as follows,

The report server is up and running and so is the database. This report JSP was generated from the reports builder and the opened in JDeveloper environment,in the war file project. It was then compiled and a war file was created. Surprisingly this report JSP works fine when i run my webapplication from the embedded OC4J instance for JDeveloper, but when i try to run it from the 9iAS server i get the above mentioned error. The deployment of the war file to the server is successful and the other JSPs work fine, only the reports JSP is not working. Do i need to have some settings for running the reports JSP, please advise.

Can you please help me in deploying jdeveloper (9.0.3.1)war file to 9iAS release 1, when I try to run, none of the jsp's execute, I get java OutOf Memory error, I also think that there may be some version compatibility between jdev jdk and 9iAS jdk.

There are Parameters DESTTYPE, DESFORMAT and DESNAME. You can set these parameters to get as you want.
1) Output in Excel File

Hi Ramesh,
You can use SM36 and use the "Job Wizard" to define a background job in simple step by step procedure
Or
Goto SM37 and specify a job name.
Next specify the ABAP Program Name of the report you want to execute under Job Step.
Then click on "Extended Job Selection" and goto the Period Tab.
There select "Only Periodic Jobs" and then specify the frequency of execution based on Months, Weeks, Days, Hours or Minutes.

There are two ways for you to handle,
one manually setting up the job through SM36 which is better and convinient,
secondly through program using FM's JOB_OPEN, SUBMIT, JOB_CLOSE.
Find below steps in doing both:
Procedure 1:
1. Goto Trans -> SM36
2. Define a job with the program and variant if any
3. Click on start condition in application tool bar
4. In the pop-up window, click on Date/Time
5. Below you can see a check box "Periodic Job"
6. Next click on Period Values
7. Select "Other Period"
8. Now give '15' for Minutes
9. Save the job
Procedure 2 via Program:
Below is a sample code for the same. Note the ZTEMP2 is the program i am scheduling with 15mins frequency.

Why would you need the <%%> between the if else blocks? Even if you attempt to write some data within the blocks in java, you will still get an error. For example, this is illegal:

From this Function u can determine
how many rows in DIM u have.
After this u can determine size of DIM table:
ROWS * (How many Bytes are in one row) = Size of table.
In order to determine how many Bytes are in one row,
u can see transaction se11 -> Database table -> Tabkle name of DIM -> Display -> Fields -> just add the length*Bytes for all fields in this table.

Well as Peter said, we have to use transaction SWXF to trigger this workflow.
I ran a test run and workflow is getting triggered perfectly.
Coming to WORKITEM PART, Well you got to do the AGENT ASSIGNMENT for the Standard Task TS30000016. For doing that, you will have goto WS30000015 and double click on the first ACTIVITY STEP ( Approve notification of absence), you will get to see the detailed screen of that step. Click on the Small button beside AGENT ASSIGNMENT, you will get to see a new screen, place the cursor on the first line and click on Attributes button, and select the GENERAL TASK(Which is by default General Forwarding allowed).
Now get back to our transaction SWXF and create a leave application. Make sure that the initiator has enough leave quota in that period. After the application of leave, the SUPERVISOR(if OM is maintained properly) will get a WORKITEM for APPROVAL.
