I test pGina program which was create from GINA. I want create program for logon windows with C#. I wonder when user log off windows why pGina can run application for login windows. I think application can run when start windows only . How pGina can run
program when user click log off button ?

We have a situation. We monitor an application very closely for failure rate. Many users are currently just logging off windows when leaving work. When they use windows log off it kills this application which intern return non-zero exit code(indicating application
problem).
Is there a way to run a batch/powershell script to close application first(we have a method to close it gracefully) before log off process is triggered by windows 7.
We tried putting a routine in GPO log off script. But widows log off kills all applications before the routine has chance to run.

Create a batch file and insert the shutdown command in the last line. When you want to shutdown computer, just run this batch file.

My mac doesn't recognize my password when I log off

When I start my computer it recognize my password fine but when I log off or it goes to sleep it doesn't recognize my password anymore and it starts asking for keychains and stuff so I have to shut it down in order to login again, any help?

Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.

Why do my folders on my desktop when i log off then log back in move position all the time?

When i log off or turn off my laptop and then log back in my folders or files are in different positions then where i had placed them on my desktop previously

I mentioned in my earlier post.
And if that doesn't work try using the Desktop Icon Manager (DIM) which has been around since OS9 days to get those pesky desktop icons to behave.
You arrange your desktop icons the way you want them. Tell DIM to "memorize" that arrangement. Make DIM a login item so that when you log in it will move the icons to the memorized positions at login.
You can change the arrangment at any time and tell DIM to memorize a new arrangment.

Run LabVIEW executable when user logs off

I have a customer request to do this.
My customer has a computer in their plant that I wrote a LabVIEW applicaiton to monitor part of their process. This computer performs other functions in addition to my program. Their IT department has changed their policy that mandates that anybody using this computer has to log in under their own user name and password. Prevoulsy it was just a group user name and password. What this means for me is everytime a new user needs to use the PC they have to log off and log back on. This stops my program.
Is there a way to have a LabVIEW executable keep running when different users log off and log on?

Sounds like you need a service. It may be a complete architecture change, but you could have an executable running as a service and a user interface executable connecting to it (e.g. via TCP/IP). The service itself can't have a UI.
Without using a service there's no way an application can continue running when a user logs off (afaik).
A service is started even if no user logs on.
There's tools like srvany or similar that allow to run an executable as a service.

Java dying when user logs off machine

I have developed a class that monitors a MQ queue, I used the active-x bridge to allow distribution to both java and VB developers to use. The application that is to be developed should be running on a machine in the background.
I created a test VB program using the java class and created a "scheduled task" to start on system start up. When I start the machine, the application starts up and runs. Then a user logs into the machine, and application is still running. Then the user logs off the machine, and the program stops.
I have a VB porgram without the java active-x bridge object and that works throughout the login/logout process.
Any thoughts on how I can keep the program running continously, thanks.

Well, I found a solution. If you add the paramater -Xrs to the java command, it will reduce the use OS signals. Thus it will ignore the hook that Windows has.

When I log off, there is always an update waiting to be installed but the wheel just keeps spinning and nothing happens .

For the past two weeks, whenever I've logged off there has always been one update waiting to be installed. I found this curious, so last night I waited to see what would happen. The wheel just kept spinning and spinning--and pretty obviously the update was not installed. And now the update is still waiting to be installed. (Only in the last instance, when I was checking to see what happened, did I power off the computer. In all the previous instances, I found the computer OFF when I checked the following morning. As of 3/30/13, when logging off of Facebook using the Facebook App, it will not log me out. It is now permanently keeping me logged in. it also could be something different, if you try google hangounts. change password and log out it still recieves notifications. its how apples handles the "channel" notification system for apps that recieve notifications or do backroung sync, and im sure at some point that security hole will be a hijack point. i think its called XO auth. and is why it can maintain session even after an apperant logout
if you go to the app and it shows you have logged out but are still recieving notifications then that is evidence of the bug.
also look and find the option for "keep me logged in" i remember in the past that would allow a autologin after logout. also if the app does NOT save the logout status correctly in its "memory" the above refereced system will auto login you with the XO app authentication.
if there really is no keep me logged in option. then what crh24 said, they designed it delibertly to keep you logged in. though i never remember a problem on my ios 6,. are you on ios 7, bunny hop?

I successfully installed 'Orion' on windows machine but when i run the following command its not generating any files like *.csv and at the same time its not showing any error message
"orion -run simple -testname mytest -num_disks 1"
I created mytest.lun file where oracle is installed ,it conatins D:\devi\ram.doc(Here D drive having 500GB free disk space and ram is a document file)
Plz do needful how to run orion in windwos ,

Not showing user online, yet shows me when they logged off

When I hover over one of the screen names in my "offline" list, it shows me how long ago they logged off, yet I didn't see them online. I'm wondering if this means they blocked me, or if they were just logged on as invisible. It just seems odd that it would show me how long ago they logged off if I was blocked. Someone please ease my paranoia.

Off Line Buddies (greyed out) ones show me nothing other than Scree Name if I have a real name in Leopard and Snow Leopard. (and a larger Buddy Pic)
Away Buddies do show on some if they have gone Idle (No Keyboard/mouse input to computer) as well as Away.
(Idle but Available Buddies go Amber in iChat)
I tried this for a Significant number of Offline Buddies just in case one was Invisible and showed differently, but Nada.

[solved] hook to run commands when user logs in? (before bash profile)

Is there any way to run commands when a user logs in but before the bash profile is sourced?
For example, I have a user account with a home directory on /tmp. When the user logs in, the home directory might not exist so there will be no .bash_profile to source. I want to run a script to create the directory if necessary and copy some files into it. How can that be done?
I thought of putting something in /etc/profile or /etc/profile.d/, but I would like to run something before the user's shell and environment become active.
I can use /etc/rc.local to do what I want, but I would prefer a hook to ensure that everything is set right when the user logs in.
Any ideas?

Solution
In my case, I found that I could write my own shell script and set it as a login shell. In the script, I can configure everything I need before launching the interactive shell, then clean up anything after it exits.
