How to run GPIB based programs with visual basic 3

I have a little test program to comunicate with a GPIB device in a similar way that MAX does.
I type the address of the device, send the command *IDN?
but nothing returns except an error message that says s$ duplicate definition. I'm not terribly familiar with VB 3.0 Does anyone know what this means and how to fix it?

I'm assuming since you're using VB 3, I assume you're calling directly into gpib-32.dll - is that correct? Could you possibly post the VB code? Also, if it's possible for you to use a later version of VB, we have ActiveX controls for VB6 and .NET classes for VB.NET that would make GPIB-based I/O much simpler to do than it would be in VB 3.0

You would have to write your C++ programs as DLLs and then use something like the following:-
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE messagebeep
     (p_uint IN BINARY_INTEGER)
     AS EXTERNAL LIBRARY user32 NAME "MessageBeep"
     CALLING STANDARD PASCAL;
Within your C++ code you would then access the database to update your tables etc.
The way I see it is that you want processing to go Oracle --> C++ --> Oracle.
Do you really need the C++ layer ?

In SP2 we've made it very easy to automatically set the main class name
when you first try to run a class in a Java project that doesn't have
already have debugging configured.
More generalized ways to easily run a class with a main method are
already on the list for the next release.

No, you must install Windows to run Windows software. You do not need to use Boot Camp (yes, it's free because it comes with OS X.)
Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.

Try using GetTickCount() API function, which provides millisecond precision. If you need more precise timer, try using QueryPerformanceCounter() function.

Hello Manish,
Using transaction SM36 you can define the batch job along with the start conditions for that job.
1. Transaction SM36.
2. Give the Z name of the job in the 'Job Name' input field.
3. Click on 'Steps' button from the application toolbar.
4. On the 'Create Step 1' dialog box, give the name of the ABAP program in the 'ABAP Program' section' along with the variant.
5. Click on 'Check Input' button from the dialog box.
6. Click on 'Save' button from the dialog box once the check is successful.
7. One list will be shown. Click on Back button from the standard toolbar.
8. Click on 'Start Conditions' button from the application toolbar. Specify the start condition e.g. immediate. Click on save.
9. The job staus is now scheduled.
10.Click on Save button from the standard toolbar of SM36. The job status will be released.
Using SM37 you can monitor the status of the job.
This will sort out your problem.

You can make payments business area wise if you had ticked payment goup business area wise in the payment method in company code screen. However you will have to give company codes in the payment parametets, but payments will be grouped by business area.

How to Run a SCSI Scanner with Firewire In OS X?

Does anyone know how to run a SCSI scanner with Firewire in Mavericks?
I have unsuccessfully tried the RATOC FR1SX SCSI-to-Firewire converter. The Ratoc is recognized as a Firewire device in the System Profiler (see pic below). However, the VueScan scanning software does not recognize the scanner. I know the scanner works because I have been using it in an old HP PC. As such I installled Windows 7 64 bit via Boot Camp to see if I could use the scanner, but had no luck.
I have an iMac 21.5-inch, Mid 2010.
ANY HELP?

The Mac scanner driver is not seeing it as a native SCSI device assuming VueScan supports the model of scanner you have. (You did not list the scanner model.)
Other than getting a modern non-SCSI scanner, a possible option would be to get a Thunderbolt PCI expansion chassis and a 'real' SCSI interface card. There is no guarantee this will work though as SCSI has been discontinued in the Mac world for years and years. If you then want to look at a SCSI card for use with the expansion chassis then look at the following.
Hmm, just looked the AttoTech SCSI cards have been discontinued as well, as I said SCSI is ancient history in the Mac world.
