How to run SE30 on an update task, http, etc.

I don't have any issue, it's just for your information, as I couldn't find the question in the forum or sap notes.
I wanted to trace the updates triggered by a dialog transaction (MIR4 in my case, but this may apply to any transaction, and even batch programs).
I tried to activate update debugging, and when debugger starts automatically (at first update function module), I ran the trace from SE30 in "parallel mode" (as the update task seemt to be captured in dialog in exclusive mode) but it gives an empty trace.
The solution was to click the "Schedule For User/Service" button in SE30. It is possible to schedule a trace to start automatically for a user (enter yours), a client (enter current client), a given external session (choose Any for an update task), process category i.e. either a workprocess type (DIA, BGD, UPD) or other types (RFC, HTTP, etc.) (choose Update), object type is used to restrict (choose Any).
There is a "Max. No. of Sched. Measurements" field.
Now the next Update task with these criteria will automatically start a trace.

ODI provides web based UI for running the scenarios using Metadata Navigator (read only of ur ODI components) and Lighweight designer (u can edit the mapping here).
Please explore how to install metadata navigator in ODI and have a look at ODI Setup document for more information.

How to debug function module in update task ?

Hi ,
          i have following code :
CALL FUNCTION 'ZSD_t_UPDATE' IN UPDATE TASK
             TABLES
                              it_xvbkd = xvbkd.
Inside this function module i have some code to debug . How can i debug it ?
I put the breakpoint in it but its not working .
It is triggered on save of a tcode .

My home-grown method:
Set your breakpoint in the FM.
In your transaction, just before you press save, enter hobble mode in your command box with '/h'.
press save.
In your first debug screen, toggle settings>system debugging ON (NetWeaver Drop-down menu) or see previous notes for earlier WebAS versions.
Select continue (F8).
The program should then stop at your break-point in the FM.

How to run reports from discoverer viewer by http

Hello everybody,
We've migrated our j2ee application to htmldb and we've migrated Discoverer reports from 4i to 5. So, I'd like to know how to invoke reports from htmldb.
With the previous version we used this way:

Hi Seba
You basically run Viewer as normal and then copy the URL from the Address bar at the top of the browser. This can then be used to run the report.

FM in update task - How do you debug for a user exit (IW32)

Hi,
I am working on user exit IWO10009, fm EXIT_SAPLCOIH_009, transaction IW32.
The user-exit should be called any time an order is saved with parts added to the component tab.
The import structure of the user exit is CAUFVD, which doesnu2019t contain the items in the component. Instead, I have to go into table RESB and get the components.
However, when I go into RESB from inside the user-exit, the added components have not yet been added to the table.
As such, I was thinking of creating a Z function module in update task to process this code after the order is saved & RESB is updated.
2 questions
1 u2013 Is this the best way of accomplishing this?
2 u2013 How do you debug FMu2019s in update task? I have set a breakpoint & have switched system debugging on from inside the debugger, but it doesnu2019t stop inside the fm.

to debug update task you need to switch on "update debugging" not the "system debugging" from the menu Settings->update debugging.

IN UPDATE TASK problem with CRM_ORDER_SAVE

Hello,
I'm trying to write a program to update one field on CRM order documents,
but i need to run it in background with update task.
- I created a function module and called CRM_ORDER_MAINTAIN and CRM_ORDER_SAVE functions
in this function module consequently,
- I set the tick "Update Module" and "Start.immed." in attributes of this function module,
- I called the function module with IN UPDATE TASK additon in a program
- I used COMMIT WORK command after calling this function module.
if I use IN UPDATE TASK addition ,
function is not working and not updating table VBLOG
and no return message in my workplace.
But same coding is working perfectly if I don't use IN UPDATE TASK.
Is there way to understand what's wrong, or a trace possibility?

Hello Bulent,
The entry in VBLOG is retained if the there is any error during the update work process otherwise it is removed from VBLOG.
Why don't you check the behavior of your FM in "update debugging"? That should throw more light on how the FM works in update work process.

You can check with SO01 transaction if any error occurs
If there is an error during the update the record in VBLOG updated again. Check the online documentation on [UPDATE TASK|http://help.sap.com/abapdocu_702/en/abapcall_function_update.htm].

Call function in update task empty variables error

Hello,
I'm experiencing a weird error while using the addition "In update task".
My Scenario is the following:
Use the bapi_goodsmvt_create -> if there are no errors, fill some values and call my function and then commit everything.
The problem is, when the function runs in update task, all import parameters are empty!
Also, this only happens in the following code structure
CALL METHOD run_migo( IMPORTING bapireturn = t_bapireturn).
IF t_bapireturn IS INITIAL.
CALL METHOD save_custom_tables. "this runs my function 'IN UPDATE TASK'
CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT'
    EXPORTING
      wait = 'X'.
ENDIF.
if I commit inside the method SAVE_CUSTOM_TABLES, the data is passed normally to the function, if I commit like the code above, everything is empty.

Function module In Update Task is called more than once

Hi experts!!
I had a requirement to Create a Customer ( i will call it B) when another Customer (A) is created (ON SAVE).
I used a Badi to implement the requirement, and inside my Badi i have 2 Function Calls in Update Task.
The first one to create Customer B and the second one to send Customer's B data to another System.
Even though the second function call is inside an IF-ENDIF condition ( so that only Customer's B data are sent) the function is called twice sending the same data. My guess is that since the First Function saves the Customer to the database, that is the reason why the second Function is called twice.
Is there any way i can control how many times a Function In Update Task is called????

I tried your suggestion but even if i fill the flag during the first call the function is called twice. Looks like during the second database commit the function is called with the correct conditions met but twice.
Also while debugging it looks like it is only called once. It s very strange!
Any other ideas???

It has been a while since you asked your question- I hope you still need the solution. Java typically does not support this because it is platform specific. I don't know what operating system you are working on. I assume Windows. There are numerous ways to do this in Windows. The easiest is to copy the program into the startup folder. The directory is: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup. Another way, less visible to the user, is to make an entry in the registry. If you place the location of the program as data in a key in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current\Version\Run of the registry, it will start with the system. This is hard to do in Java (for obvious reasons) however it is not impossible. You can use JNI which is really difficult to learn and hard to implement or you can use

Documentation on reg.exe can be found through the command prompt. There are other ways such as modifying Autoexec.bat however they are less reliable

You do have a very complex looking site and may need several tables in mysql to handle all that data. If you knew to phpmysql I would suggest taking a look at this tutorial it will help get you started in understanding how to $_GET info from a database and also how to $_POST data to a database. Error Handling for Background/Update Tasks (Transfer Order creation) - How?

Hi,
I have a standard process for creating a Transfer Order and 2 user-exits that I have implemented.
The user exits are used to transfer information during Transfer Order creation.
However, the user-exits also check data in table TVARV and other. As such, error handling needs to be implemented, since the T.O. might or might not go through, depending on data validation and related.
However, the user-exits are implemented during creation, which is an update task that runs in the background. This makes it impossible to output any information or error messages.
What else can be done in regards to outputting a message, since the user will need to see some sort of message that the process failed, that the T.O. didnu2019t confirm? Can an SAP inbox message be created and how?

To get IDOC number when running MASTER_IDOC_DISTRIBUTE in update task.

How can I disable the HP Updates Agent from running?

HP pavilion D4100Y
Windows XP SP2 or 3 (not sure)
No error message
No recent changes
Problem: The program "Updates from HP Agent" runs frequently and on no particular schedule, certainly not one I chose. It takes over my computer for hours and uses most of the CPU, fluctuating from 13% to 87% to 1 etc.3% to 6%, etc. The computer hangs and I cannot use it for anything else. On the HP Updates screen, I set the updates to "NEVER" but that didn't work. The programs still run. On the Windows Task Manager window the program is called "Updates from HP Agent".
I cannot find anything about this problem in the support database.
How can I disable the HP Updates Agent from running?

Select your start button and in the search box type "msconfig" then select msconfig.exe under programs.
Look under the "Services" and "Boot" tabs. Uncheck HP update agent, select "Apply" and close.
