I am a bit confused about syntax. Have you read the documentation? If so, which part of it is confusing you?

    how java runs in command prompt and why java runs on it

    command prompt was used before the development of IDEs like RAD,eclipse etc.
    its still used for better understanding of the compilation and errors.
    type the java file and save the file(source file) in the bin folder of ur jdk environment with extension .java. the source file must be the one that has the main method declared.
    in the cmd prompt screen , set the path of bin folder.
    eg:C:/program files/jdk(some version)/bin/...
    for compilation,type:
    javac (source file_name).java and press enter
    for running the file:
    java source file_name

  • How to run wrap utility

    Hi All,
    I tried to use wrap utility from my command promt from c:/oracle9i/bin to encrypt the package code. But found that I am not having any wrap coomand in bin dir, so when I run wrap command from c:/oracle9i/bin, it gave me below error:
    C:\oracle9i\bin>wrap
    'wrap' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
    operable program or batch file.
    Can anybody help me in running wrap command. I am not able to understand if this is version issue, or complete pacakage has not been installed on my machine.
    Or there is some other way to run wrap utility, and I am running it in wrong manner.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Nidhi

    The wrap utility is a command line utility that obfuscates the contents of a PL/SQL source file. The syntax for the wrap utility is shown below.
    wrap iname=input_file [oname=output_file]
    The iname parameter specifies the source file, while the oname parameter specifies the destination file. If the destination file is not specified it defaults to the source file name with a ".pld" extension.
    Running the Wrap Utility
    Wrapping a package is amazingly simple, although there is one pitfall to avoid. Among the 500 plus files in the ORACLE_HOME/bin directory you will see wrap or WRAP depending on your operating system (a lot of the more common files and directories on Windows are upper-cased for ease of readability and identification).
    Using wrap is as simple as this:
    c:\ora9i\bin wrap iname=input_file_name
    You can specify an output file as a second argument by using this format:
    c:\ora9i\bin wrap iname=input_file_name oname=output_file_name
    Once wrapped, a package cannot be unwrapped. With that in mind, and just like what you would do with a real package, do not wrap the package until it is time to ship it. This implies keeping a source code repository of the original code. If a customer or user reports a bug against a wrapped package, there is no unwrapping it at the customer's site. You are going to have to ship another wrapped package with the fix in it. You will be making the bug fix or enhancement with the repository file and wrapping the new file.
    An Example of Using Wrap
    In a previous article, I used the DBMS_RANDOM package. A slightly modified bit of code from that produces the following:
    SQL> CREATE or REPLACE PROCEDURE wrap_it (seed_in NUMBER)
      2  IS
      3    v_rand INTEGER;
      4  BEGIN
      5    DBMS_RANDOM.INITIALIZE (seed_in);
      6    FOR i IN 1..5 LOOP
      7     v_rand := mod(abs(DBMS_RANDOM.RANDOM),45);
      8     dbms_output.put_line(i||': '||v_rand);
      9    END LOOP;
    10  END;
    11  /
    Procedure created.
    SQL> exec wrap_it(123456);
    1: 37
    2: 36
    3: 18
    4: 8
    5: 32
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.HTH.

  • How do run unix command in java

    %>

    I don't have further info to add to your first post, but think your guess seems quite reasonable. I thought of starting a new thread on the same topic, but think this (question) fits in here, too.
    I have Java code (freeware, not opensoure), intended for Unix, which basically provides the graphical interface and relies on an I/O layer (C + shell scripts) to do most of the work. I have access to the C+shell scripts which are opensource. I ported it to Cygwin and want to use it under Windows (there is no Cygwin native Java VM).
    My problem now boils down to " how to run commands under Unix and what differences are there with Windows". What are the variants?
    I have to guess what the program is doing when I get an IOException at some point. E.g.: a call to shell script may be made in a different way as to a compiled exe in Unix?. I found a way to bypass path problems because forward slashes are also accepted and /cygdrive/c construct can be replace by c:/; shell scripts can be compiled into exes using shc and they work; if symbolic links are replaced by duplication of exe files, they work. What will happen in an instance whereby a process runs a shell script dynamically, through a pipe (the shell script is compiled in the Cygwin/win version and receives parameters) in a construct like:
    pipefp = epopen(cmdbuf,"w"); /* (cmbuf is "makehdr par1 par2 ... ") (makehdr was a shell script and is now compiled exe for Cygwin/Windows) */?.
    Thanks.

  • How to run a command line argument

    i want to run a command line argument, say for eg......i want to execute the "dir" command on the dos prompt and capture the output.
    how can i do this.
    actually i want to capture the output of the ping command and write it to a file. can any body plsssssss help

    This command runs a ping to "address" and writes the output back to the command line. To capture it, just put strings into an array or do whatever you want with it. If you want to wait until the program completes before reading its input, use p.waitFor().
    Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("ping " + address);
    BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(p.getInputStream()));
    String currLine = null;
    while((currLine = in.readLine()) != null)

  • How to run Terminal commands in Xcode?

    Anyone knows how to include Terminal commands ( like sudo) in Xcode?  for example in a line of my program I need to run this:
    sudo open/Library/Preferences/com.apple.sharing.firewall.plist
    I searched the library but found no class or routine for that.

    Well, I am not a professional programmer, but one of the things I continue to learn is how to wade through all of the Cocoa documentation (and it does get deep in spots).  Chances are though, no matter what you are trying to do, Apple or some third party has created a class to make it easier - you just have to find it.  My Xcode documentation bookmarks continue to grow, but you might start with some of Apple's documentation, such as
    Cocoa Fundamentals Guide
    Foundation Framework Reference
    Application Kit Framework Reference

  • How to run system commands from JAVA

    Hi Friends,
    How to run windows system commands from JAVA
    Runtime r=Runtime.getRuntime();
    r.exec("dir");
    Throwing following Exception
    CreateProcess :dir error=2
    Thanks in advance
    Hamsa

    Hi ,
    in Windows NT this is not possible, you can use the following :
    Runtime r=Runtime.getRuntime();
    StringBuffer sbuf = new StringBuffer();
    String dir = new String();
    java.lang.Process proc = r.exec("cmd /c dir");
    InputStream is = proc.getInputStream();
    int ch ;
    while((ch=is.read() ) != -1)
    sbuf.append((char)ch);
    is.close();
    dir = sbuf.toString();
    System.out.println(dir );

  • How to run sequential commands by runtime or whatever in java?

    I'm doing a compile function in java GUI and need to run several commands one by one, how can i do this and how can i know that the previous command has been done and finished?
    commands like
    make ....
    make ....
    make ....

    THe Process object that Runtime.exec method returns has a method called waitFor. Calling it makes the currently executing Java thread wait for the process to exit.
    (apidoc: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/lang/Process.html#waitFor())

    For me that includes perusing available resources. The 'Search Forum' button of this forum is. Http://asktom.oracle.com also is. Ninety nine percent of all users posting here did zero to resolve their own problem. This is why the results of 'Search Forum' are such a mess. As Oracle does nothing to moderate or clean up this forum, the mess stays and is aggravated because most people....
