How to save a clip with a transparent background?

How do i save a clip with a transparent background to export to quicktime and then be able to import it back into my timeline and have it be able to overlay ontop of another clip? Transparent clip is for lower third

For transparency to work, you need to save it in a format that has an alpha channel. Not sure if FCE supports the Animation codec but if it does you'll want your material as "millions of colors +". The "+" means Alpha.

  • How to save Buffered Image with variable transparency in a file.

    Hi,
I need to save BufferedImage (type ARGB) in a file.
Transparency in this image is a function of position. Who knows, what would be the best suggestion for type of file to store this image (probably not JPEG) and which package would be appropriate. A sample of code would be higly desirable. Please help, thank you in advance.

Your can use the ImageIO-API if your software runs under JVM1.4 or you must use the JAI (Advanced Imaging API) ...

  • How to make an object with a transparent background

i know this should be simple, but my use of photoshop has really fallen off and i can't recall how to do this.
i have masked an object from a jpg file and pasted it into a new document created with background contents transparent and i do have the checkered background. yet, when i save this document, the background appears to be filled in with white. is it really white or is it really transparent. i even created a second layer to paste the object into and saved as a pdf, but the same thing happens.
if i flatten the image, the background also becomes white.
basic stuff, i know, but i don't remember and the help isn't helping me.

Tiff supports transparency and is a widely-accepted format. You may want to try giving the printer that format.
Gif and png can only be saved if you're using RGB images. If they are not RGB, then save as TIFF and you should be fine.
If you actually are missing a bunch of plug-ins and/or file format options, it's possible that they have somehow been deleted. You'd have to reinstall Photoshop to get them back, or copy the contents of the plug-ins folder from another computer. SFW is a plug-in that resides within an import/export folder in the plug-ins folder, so it does sound like you are missing some things that need to be re-installed.

  • How can I save file in Photoshop with an transparent background as an eps

I can save a file with a transparent background as an png and place it in a document and retain the transparent background. But my client requires eps file. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

You could add a clipping path - look in the Paths panel menu.

  • How to save a png with a straight or fat alpha?

Long story short, work in broadcast and a new piece of gear prefers png files.  I know how to save png's with a transparency, that's not the problem.  What I don't know how to do or if it's possible is to save them with a straight or fat alpha.  Right now we feather or extend the edges out past the alpha of say a logo and save it as a tif, psd or .tga.  That way once it's keyed over video or whatever, the edges look good, no black bad edging.... this makes sense, probably not explaining it very well.   But switching to png files I have no idea how to make a straight or fat alpha since it sees transparency.  I mean if I feathered out the edges, a png will see that correct, since there's no alpha??
I hope this makes sense ?

Chris, this is probably the answer I seek "PNG always saves with straight color - that's how the PNG spec defines it."
I admit my explanation was a bit weak and I understand PNG only supports transparency, which is not an alpha,  and the apps aren't treating them wrong....I just couldn't formulate an intelligent question and explain it, my bad.
After thinking about it I don't think using a PNG will work. RIght now for broadcast gear/applications if we don't fill the transparent and semi-transparent areas of an image with the colored part of the image, we usually end up getting a dirty key/matte or a lot of fringing.  So when using a .tif or .tga that reads an actuall alpha, we can fix the issue by doing what I described.  In fact we use a quick little plugin from flaming Pear called "Solidifty" to speed up the process http://www.flamingpear.com/download.html .  With that said, I know we can't do the same steps with a png because it only sees transparency, but I guess I was wondering if there was a work-around or a trick to fix that issue.  I could be wong, but doesn't a png save with white ?
But again, as I thought about it, I think i'm asking for something it's not meant to do, but I thought I'd ask anyway.
Thanks Chris, does this make more sense or more confusing?  The bottom-line is I don't think it will work.

  • How do I import animated gifs into Premiere with a transparent background?

I have an animated gif that I got from the internet, and I'm trying to import it into Premiere Pro with a transparent background. The gif is of a video game character standing still and blinking. Whenever I import it, it always has a white background, so I need help on how to change that.
I've gone into Photoshop and removed the white background frame by frame, making it transparent. I do this by using the magic wand tool to select the white background, then hit "delete" to turn it into that diamond grid, which means it's transparent. I then select File -> Save for Web. I preview every frame, and it shows that the backgrounds are transparent. I save it as a gif. But when I import it into Premiere Pro, the white background is still there.
I've read many forums online about people trying to import images into Premiere Pro with a transparent background, but none of them have explained how to do it specifically for animated gifs. Every answer has always been "export the image as a png, that'll work", and sure enough, I exported a few frames of the gif as pngs, and those few frames had transparent backgrounds in Premiere Pro. But I don't want a png because those aren't animated sequences, those can only be still images. I need to export it as a gif so that it will remain animated, but gif files always have that dreaded white background in Premiere Pro.
I suppose I could export every frame as a png, import each of those frames into Premiere Pro, then string all the frames together and tweak them so they'll be functionally identical to the animated gif, but that would take forever. I'm making a video project and I need numerous animated gifs to work with, so I don't want to do that with every single one of them. I'm looking for a way to simply import the gifs into Premiere Pro and be done with it. If there is any way to do this, please help me.

faind on gif transparency and other cartoon animation problems : Adobe After Effects
" The reason: GIFs don't support alpha channels. Instead, their file structure assigns a certain color value to be read as totally transparent. There aren't any degrees of transparency as you find in graphics formats that do support alpha channels.
To use an animated gif in AE, you'd first have to create the areas of transparency, then convert the series of images into a graphics format that supports alpha channels, and there are a bunch: PICT, TIFF, TARGA or PNG, to name a few."

  • CS4 How to save a clip or a group of clips to use in another project ?

Hi guys, I am new here and I am new in this videoediting.
I find Premiere Pro fantastic to edit videos, it really is a program for PRO´s.
Because of that it has so many functions and options that it is hard for a beginner to find his way.
I have tried to find the answere to my question in the Help, here in this Forum and I have also two different Video tutorials but not lucky.
    Background:
I had 10 videotapes from a Sony handycam that I took in 1989-90 in NZ living there with my 2 small daughters for one year.
I have got the tapes transformed to DVD´s and I have no problem to read them and edit them in Pro CS4. But I want to make a couple of different videos for different audiences.
One DVD incl the whole trip, one short version and then I want to use just some clips for something totally diferent.
I put in a lot of effort to change the lightning and editing every clip very carefully. I just want to do this one time for every clip.
So how can I save the edited clips so I easily can open them up in different projects?
Probably a stupid question but no question - no answere!
I have been readinf quite a lot here in the different forums for Premiere and I am amazed how much knowledge there is here.
    Best regards
    Sven

I hope my question has not been answered yet, I hope to hear another solution to my problem.
    Problem again:
I have 10 movies in .vob format, each around 30 minutes.
I edit each movie and from the first one I got 19 clips and together 5 min 23 seconds.
Each clip I try to make better with better lights, better sound etc etc using video and audio efects. So I put a lot of work into each clip.
When I have edited all 10 movies I might have 200 clips and each clip is improved by using different video and movie effects.
Then I want to make 3 maybe 4 different movies from all the clips. For some clips I might want to change the effects depending on which movie it will be included in or for some other reason.
So I want to save each clip with the video and audio effects "open".
I have got some ideas from Alan and Ann and I have tested to Export from the Workarea.
So I want to report the results from my tests:
I have a clip 1 min 40 sec with many diiferent video effects.
Format: Quick time gives a .mov file and the size was 381 Mbyte. It took around 30 minutes
Format: Microsoft avi gives a .avi file and the size was also 381 Mbyte and took same time.
Format: H.264 gives a .mp4 file and the size is only 40 Mbytes but took same time.
Format: MPEG4 gives a .3gp file with size 2.2 Mbytes.
When you export to media you choose Format and Preset plus you have 100 other different parameters that you can change.
When you click OK Adobe Media Encoder starts up. Here you can change Format and Preset and you can also duplicate the order to make a new file and make files with different Formats.
.mov file, .avi file and .mp4 file gave in my opinion same quality but the 3gp file was very blurred. I could import all the 3 first formats into Premiere Pro CS4 BUT the video and audio effects were deleted. The effects had affected the new movies so that is kind of OK but I had hoped the new movies should contained the effectinformation so I could change the effect for each clip depending of which final movie it should be in.
The Premiere Pro CS4 is a fantastic tool and a user can taylor his own "clipboard" with his style and make and save his own tools (effects).
Maybe there is a function to save an original clip together with its video and audio effects so it easy can be used and reused.
I have learned a lot today and I hope someone else has found these posts interesting and wants to dig deeper into the subject.
    Thanks everyone!
    Sven

  • Want to save Individual clips with separate names

Moving from Final cut over to Imovie. In Final Cut could save any clip with a separate name. Other than copying a clip over to a new project and rendering a move, I could not find how to do that in imovie, or in the tutorials/manual. I have spent a good deal of time bringing the HD movies over to Imovie and selecting out the clips to make a new movie. These clips must now be archived with individual names.
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Thanks in advance!

Probably collecting everything on an artboard into a new layer might give you the option to use a script to save layers to files.
But this is a feature request but no as of yet has suggested a way that this might work, at least I do not think so.

  • How to save a flash with .SWF

Hi, I have the 'Adobe Flash CS3 Professional', and I want to
know if you could tell me how to save a flash with .SWF.
When I want to create a new project, I can chose between nine
types of documents, and I want to make a flash for a website. What
type of document would you chose if you were me ?
I can't write the name of the diferent types of documents,
because I have this programme in Spanish.
    Can you help me ?
    Thank you

FLA is the native source format - make your movie and then
    publish to SWF -
you can not create an SWF initially - SWF is the
    exported/published format
    of your FLA>

  • How to save a graph with some parameters on it?

    hi
my application involves analysis of data and plot a graph of analysed data, how to save graph along with analysed data in a file otherthan labview?

Well, it sounds like you are wanting a picture of the graph, yes? If so there are two ways of getting it. First there is a VI method (Get Panel Image) that lets you get an image of the entire screen, and then there is a control method (Get Image) that lets you get an image of just the front panel object that you are interested in.
The help file entries for either method provides added detail on how to uses these methods to save a picture of your data.

  • How to move multiple clips with transitions?

Im still transitioning from FCP7 to FCP 10.1.2 and can't believe I have missed the lesson that explains how to move multiple clips with transitions.
Up till now I have tried several work arounds including deleting all the transitions then using the (P) Position tool to move the clips from the primary track to some track above it then re adding all the transitions.  This is a function I do on a daily basis.  Am I missing something?  Please help!
    Thank you

With some further investigation, the transitions have nothing to do with my problem.  In my case there was a tiny “Black gap slug” within the group that was preventing me from being able set it on top of another group of clips or gap someplace.  But even with the gap removed… I can move the clips on top of another group but the transitions stay behind on the primary (Magnetic)
In the screen shot you can see what happens when I move a group out of the primary (magnetic) timeline onto a gap.  All the transitions get left behind.
Ive notices that Cutting and pasting will only paste the sequence some other place on the primary (magnetic) timeline for me.
An example of why I would want to put a cropped/ resized group on top of another group is to do picture in picture effects or if I wanted to create a background behind a set of adjusted clips.

  • How do I export a keynote slide to pdf with a transparent background?

I use Keynote for creating figures for a report I'm currently writing and layouting in Adobe InDesign.
Unfortunately I have run in to a quite annoying problem.
Because of the page-layout and background graphics in my main report, I need to be able to export the figures without the white background which comes as standard. I tried to remove the background in "Master & layout" (my Keynote is in Danish, not sure if it's called the same in English), which is suggested to bring background transparency when exporting to Quicktime movies. I doesn't seem to have any effect when exporting to pdf though.
When importing the pdf's into InDesign the figures comes up with a white background instead of the wanted transparent.
My choice of pdf over png is because of the vector graphics.
Is it possible to export to pdf's with a transparent background?

One option would be to export the slides as image files and bring them in Pages in that format.
