How to save a movie

Hi, i'm a beginner with labview and i'd like to know how can i do to save movies on my computer from my program.
you can have a look on what i use now. I already tried to adapt the example of "grab & save to AVI" but i really don't know how to do.
Is somebody anywhere who can help me ?

First, can you please describe the hardware you are using? By movie, you mean the images a camera returns to your computer? What kind of camera do you use? (Firewire/IEEE1394, analog, CameraLink, USB). And finally, what is the purpose of your LabVIEW application?

I'm in the process of porting my XE app to a 10.1 instance.
I created an app export and export file of the schema. Then I installed a client on the same machine so I could connect and I get errors detailed in the end of this thread when attempting to import. Most of the tables are successful however, none of the procedural code goes in. The app export imported fine.
Now, I can manually copy the objects that remain but only if I can connect to XE and this ability seems to have been lost with the install of the 10.1 client.
Does anyone know how I can connect to XE using PLSQL Developer or is it indeed possible to connect to XE on a machine that is configured to also connect to a 10.1 remote server? I have installed the 10.1 client into a new Oracle home.

How to save a movie that is on a dvd to iTunes?

I need the steps to how to save a movie that is on a dvd to save in itunes.

If it's on a copy protected video DVD, you can't.
If it's on an unprotected video DVD, use a product such as MPEG Streamclip to convert the VOB files on it to MPEG-4.
If it's on a data DVD, import it as you would any other file. Conversion may be necessary.

I have a sony camcorder HD that uses tape to record to. I want to save the movie to a disk . either dvd or cd to mail to a friend who want to put it on his computer for editing.
HOW??? I cannot seem to copy the raw movie to a dvd or cd and then recopy to my computer..What gives? Am I missing something here? is there a program I can use?

Not possible.
An imovie project (DV) is uncompressed and runs at 13GB per hour.
iDVD will compress that project to the standard DVD format of mpeg2, which IS compressed, and is why a DVD can hold up to 120 minutes of video, although this includes menus, titles, transitions etc.
If you want to save, i.e. back-up, an iMovie project you will need an external hard disk.

I did try that BUT the DVD will NOT play in my dvd player. The large size 'share' option converted the imovie file into a m4v format. TOAST burned it okay but it won't open in the player.
Any other suggestions will be appreciated...

Do you mean you purchased one of Apple's movies, or was this another source? Movies can be saved to DVDs as data files for backup purposes and should be playable on your authorized computer. You cannot play the DVD in a standard DVD player with a television.
If the problem is with a burned backup then it is a general disc burning problem. You can try a different brand of disc (do not use cheap ones), slow down the burn speed.

Before, iMovie was great. I am not sure when the changeover happened, but iMovie '09 remains hard to use. I have a project, but where is it saved? Did you actually create a Project or are you attempting to Share (Export) an Event? Before you can Share you need to create a Project. You do this by going to iMovie's menu, then selecting File>New Project. The next step is to select clips or parts of clips in the Event (clips you've imported), then drag and drop them into your new Project. Once the clips are in place, you can add transitions, titles, maps, effects, music, voiceovers etc. to the Project. When finished, you can then export using any of the Share options from the menu. However, you can't Share an Event - only a Project that you have created from an Event.

How to save an project in iMovie 10

I am familiar with iMovies 9 and using OSX 10.6.8. Unfortunately I have a new MacPro on OS 10.9.2 and iMovie10 (give me back my old MAcbook any day). I have finished making the movie and saved it on the desktop in mp4 format. All I want to do now is to find out is how to save the movie I have made so I can possibly get to it again to maybe add/delete things from it. In other words, I simply want to save it -
how do I do this?
can I save the movie in m4v format like I did in iMovie 9?
the mp4 format is 900Mb for 10 min, the 12 minute movie I did in iMovie 9 is 400Mb when both saved as 720p. Why?

Ok I think I've worked it out (did not know your could share to the theater, the icloud message made me assume theater was just for icloud) but I've another technical question about export quality and pictures in videos.
I just published four different quality movies (480p, 560p, 720p, 1080p) which only had a few average quality digital pics in them, just to create a short movie to compare.
I've always assumed that the quality of pictures was handled differently to video in that pictures would be fine quality even with lower quality setting, and the thing that really got hurt by lesser xxxP quality was the moving video not the pictures. But when I resized all four Quicktime movies so they were the same size and put them next to each other I could notice quite a difference in the sharpness between each of them. Since I'd rather have the pictures all used at their best quality will I have to choose the 60GB 1080p export function anyway at some point? It seems like such a waste of space and time when technically there are only about ten frames in the entire clip!
Surely there's some kind of video encoding language where you can make the file size reflect this? Kinda like what vector graphics did to bitmap formats for image files.
There must be a way round this ...

Hi,
See if the old version of iMovie is still in your Applications folder. I re-activated mine. Evidently, in their infinite wisdom Apple decided that they want to force their followers into the Cloud and that DVD operations are yesterday. Frankly, I think it very presumptuous of them to make that decision for us. I intend to lodge an official complaint.

After it's recorded, try playing it back by double-clicking on it. Then you will see an iPhoto icon in the tool bar just to the left of the play button. Click on that. It will export that video clip to iPhoto. When it's done it try to open iPhoto, if it doesn't just launch iPhoto yourself. And then look for the Last Import. Your video should appear under that Last Import icon. Double-click your movie also in iPhoto just to make sure it plays back. Quit iPhoto. Now open iMovie and look for the iPhoto Videos icon in the Event Library in iMovie. Click on that and if it asks to create Thumbnails choose "Now" instad of Later. Once it completes making the thumbnails you'll see your video. Drag that video into the Project Browser (the top half of the iMovie Window). Click the play button and watch it in the Preview window. Then to export it out go to Share Menu > Export Movie (choose Large size) and save it to the Desktop. It's that EZ!

iMovie'08 - NO - Projects can not be moved - As far as I know
You need iMovie'09 or 11 where both Events and Projects can be moved.
DO NOT move or alter any folder named
• iMovie Projects - or -
• iMovie Events
on DeskTop/Finder - Else they will not work and in some cases it is un-repairable !
Moving has to be done inside iMovie Application.
AND You need an in between storage eg an external hard disk and here are an IMPORTANT MUST
• it MUST BE Mac OS Extended formatted - UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange will not work FOR VIDEO
• Should be a FireWire one - As USB/USB2 performs badly especially when filling up and when editing HD-video.
